  1. I suspect it was the cussing. That sometimes works for me too.
  2. Well...I have no idea if I'll ever get it back in again...but it's out! And like gwri8 said...it was just "magical". I was just twisting, tugging cussing, gripping with pliers and swearing that there was simply no way this was gonna work....when, all of a sudden, it just slipped free. So, I can independently verify that the heat shield is removable with the EGR tube in place. Even with the EGR tube heat shield still in place. Thanks to all...moving along to the next puzzle...
  3. I will put this one on my 69’s. These stickers are only on US HSL, not on EU. These labels have no Japanese signs on it, pure English. So I truly believe they were added to the cars in North Amerca. On this one is no year, so you could make an assumtion this is the first one. It is on #672
  4. EFI manifolds sometimes leak at EGR due to metal erosion.
  5. How about your concept but in a "jaws-of-life" type mechanism? Tiny "mandibles of convenience".
  6. I’m imagining a tool to make this easier. Imagine a forked body that hooks over the shaft, each side of the bolt, and a threaded bolt like thing that presses on the end of the stud to push it through. kinda like this tie rod ball end remover thingy, but with bigger better wrap around fingers spaced further apart. Nice cupped end that snuggles over the threaded end of the stud to keep it on. Gonna go ‘play’ tonight and see if I can make one.
  7. Hey thanks, Kats. I have never noticed that before.
  8. @katsMy co-owned Feb 1970 did not have the plastic base: I wish I still had it ?
  9. Well let's hope for a better outcome on this.
  10. Welcome to the forum. In my opinion, the best tribute you can give your friend is to keep the car original and maintain it with the same level of care the automobile has become accustom to.
  11. They’re from DPAN on the web. (Datsun Parts and Needs). Plastic but well done. Overall I have decided to avoid the 280Z badging due to the fact this car will be a mix of S30 variants plus a 3100cc engine. A stock Fairlady badge seems to offend the purists too much so this is a nice compromise.
  12. Look guys, I see people going off the rails talking about Mr K. This not the thread. The topic is the Mint 240Z. Let's stay on topic, shall we?
  13. Only those of us that still use the term "Tin Foil", or I could say "only us old farts".
  14. I've used several layers of paper towels soaked in Evapo-Rust, then layed the wet towels as flat as possible on the vertical? rusty surfaces and covered the towels with Saran Wrap. (does anyone use that term anymore?) I checked the progress and re-wet the towels using a spray bottle as needed.
