Sounds like CO's dealt with that before. She expects 6 inches and gets only 5. Rims look nice. There should be a date stamp near the outer edge of the rim. An early date might help the sale. Price is good considering that they were powder coated! Chuck
  2. Hi all, I am saddened to read on Facebook that Victor Laury has passed. Victor was a long time Datsun fanatic and he helped build our club in the 'early' days. He was known to us as @Victor Laury and was one of the most helpful people I knew. He was a moderator and brought a huge ray of sunshine to our collection of pixels, 1's, and 0's. Victor was featured on our club years ago, and he drove 4 different Datsuns in his daily life. I raise a glass to Victor and wish him godspeed on his trip to Heaven, knowing that he will be driving in the sunshine with the top down. He was an inspiration to me and I treat every day as a privilege to be on this Earth. Victor, if you are reading this, we will miss you dearly and our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Enjoy your special place in Heaven and we will meet again someday. Moderator Mike PS: I will never forget our common love for Faye Valentine. RIP my friend!
  3. I like the louvers. I know some don't but they make the car much cooler when it gets hot outside...although in the Great White North, that may not be an issue
  4. Two new fire trucks for our Department, custom built by SPARTAN. Great engineers great people to deal with.
  5. Not a lot to report lately. I have been working on a lot of small part refurbishment and powder coating. Which means a lot of sandblasting and detailing... I did find a set of Interlouver louvers on eBay that I ordered. Used and partly stripped with missing hardware, but alas, beggars can't be choosers. @zKars has already hooked me up last year with the trim mounting hardware so hopefully I can make a functional set out of these. Not sure how they will look in the end, but I am very nostalgic towards having these on the car. This is how I remember seeing my first 280 back in high school!
  6. Grannyknot, our Spartans were "road delivered" by our mechanics so they were well on the way to being broken in by the time they got here. Also, I'm pretty sure the engines were run at the factory as the pumpers had to pass a pump test before they were accepted. So by the time the engines (in the fire service a truck with a pump on it is called an engine, one without is called a truck like a heavy rescue vehicle or an aerial apparatus like a tower or a ladder truck) were put into service they were ready to go. Hope this answers your question. Cheers, Mike
  7. Technically the greater the AMP's, the greater the number of winding's in the alternator and the higher cost of manufacture. The resistance of the commutator is negligible and should not cost "more HP" to turn. The magnetic interference on a newer style alternator should actually be a HP "win" in the long run. I plan on running a modern 3 wire 10SI GM style alternator in my resto-mod. 100+ AMP style... The bottom line is the draw from the car. A stock configuration won't consume that much power at all, however if you add a big sound system and speakers, electronic niceties like power steering, power windows, hi power lighting.... you will need the modern higher amp alternator. Losing 1-2 HP for that is worth it.

Nice rims. I'm not looking, but I can help prevent you from having to deal with the pisssed off purchaser who bought them expecting six inches... They're five inch rims. You measure the width between the inside tire bead seating surfaces.
  9. Hayitsrama, thanks for the info.

You are right on Charles.....and if you want a totally fun and reliable street car that runs on pump gas, more H.P. Is not always better. However, I really want another shot at Eiji....therefore I'm going to build something to go back and try to even the score....therefore the stroker crank!
