  1. Kats, Of course I think you know this, but... The answer is a simple 'no'. The 432-Rs that were sold to the general public - even if they were aspiring racers - and especially those that were registered for road use, had a fixed price and a fixed mechanical specification. They were pretty much on the limit of what was legally compliant for sale and road use in Japan at the time, and there was already some compromise on - for example - emissions issues with the deletion of the airbox, airfilter and the positive crankcase ventilation system that hooked up to it. If anybody wanted to tune their 432-R - or indeed go racing with it - then there was a whole raft of Nissan Sports/Race Option parts available for them to purchase and fit, and the official Nissan Sports Race & Rally 'Yellow Book' to advise them on parts, techniques and race settings: Out there in the ether there are misconceptions and claims that the 432-R - as sold to the general public - had a race-tuned engine, but I think this is simply mistaken. There's probably some element of confusion between the specs of the standard road-going 432-Rs and the Works race cars, which were of course completely different.
  2. Kats, For reference, the 432-type S20 engine in my 432-R replica is stamped engine # S20-000877, and block casting numbers are 9 2 11 32: There was some suggestion that a batch of 432-type S20 engine blocks were cast at the same time as a batch of mid/late production PGC10 GT-R engine blocks, early in 1969.
  3. Hi moelk, yes it is. I am so impressed that they are so beautiful, so clean , and installed some race options. Kats
  4. Absolute Auto Glass in Austin for the win! The precision gasket of that vintage was about perfect, no need to tape like @240260280 had to do.
  5. Thank you thank you! My head looks similar. Probably got some life left in it.
  6. The bottom of the passenger side guide should be further to the left so that the chain tensioner is doing most of the pushing at that point. The bottom of that guide should be tucked in away from the chain so that there is no wear on its leading edge. Take a look at this:
  7. For what it's worth mine was cut once since I've owned it to straighten it, can't remember the thousandth though but here's where mine is against the E31 stamp. My machinist told me it wouldn't need to be shimmed?
  8. TRUST, my friend is something one puts in a parachute, not a 50 year old car!
  9. Oh ye of little faith. He does state that the car is "RUST FREE". Don't you trust him?
  10. Kats, I bet you could sell reproductions of that manual on Ebay for $100!! One way to raise funds for your race parts.
  11. The inner tie rod spins once you undo the jamb nut for this adjustment. I suggest a professional alignment to know for sure it ends up correct.
  12. Hi Alan, thank you for your input, that is what I was expecting. Mr . Yamamoto said the engine pulled from a Z432-R, but everything which I saw was a standard S20 engine parts . I understood that is correct, Z432-R which was sold to the public has a standard S20 engine. When you want to race , you have to buy and install race option parts into your S20 engine, I got it. I have seen and missed race option piston, 8H/8L camshaft, camshaft sprocket , but if I managed obtaining those parts, it would not work. I need to have a specific head gasket, specific valve springs, seals, etc, etc.. And professional assemble work. It is just a long way !! Kats I restored my race and rally manual , Terashima-san kindly gave me . I used the parts catalog' s picture. The Z432-R is exactly the same size picture of the manual.
  13. It sounds like the problem i had it could be days and it won't crazy vibrate then when car is parked for a day or two problems comes back specifically on the first drive after is being sitting. Sent from my SM-G360P using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  14. One more comment about this from my experience. I have a low mileage '71 and a "parts car" '71. The steering on the parts car was tight with no play in the steering shaft but the low mileage car had play even after replacing everything in the front (except for the inner tie rod ends). I was sure it was the ujoints. Upon closer inspection, the nut was loose on the steering wheel. My troubleshooting skills need a little work.
  15. So I finished the emissions delete tonight. I must say, it looks so much better without the chaos of vacuum lines. Just force threaded some flywheel bolts from an old ford 302 that I rebuilt awhile back. There is an exhaust line behind the breather tube that I decided not to mess with. I removed the anti-backfire valve and it sounded soooo nice but I saw some flames pop out and decided to quickly thread it back on. Going to find a a way to leave it off and use a vacuum hose to direct it away from the carbs to keep that sound.
  16. If you didn't have the problem before then 98% of what you're doing and planning has no real basis. No offense. I would focus on the tires. I had a tiny wobble on my other car that slowly grew in to a bigger wobble that I knew was tires but I waited too long to fix. Had a blowout on the highway at 70 that probably started out as a busted belt in the tire. The blowout ended up as a softball sized hole in the tread with frayed steel wire from the belts poking out. In the few seconds it went from wobble to blowout I thought a gang of bikers was passing me, I actually looked in my mirror for the choppers. Just an aside... Try swapping your back tires for the fronts. If it's bad front tires you'll notice a difference.
  17. Hi Gave, I am wondering about future price of our car and other old cars. When can I trade my Z432 with a Dino 246GT (or 206GT is more suitable for 2000cc car)? Never going to be happened? If I have a Z432-R , I would be able to trade. On the side note of this Z432-R , recently this car was bought by Japanese car guy in Shizuoka , Japan. I think I said there is a gentleman who has three Z432-Rs in Japan, his cars are pristine and still upgrading the level of originality. We will see them someday in the future. Kats
  18. Around here we call that "tuition": the cost of learning...
  19. Me and you both! It would've been a race to Kentucky. I should have known after Mr Pilgrim mentioned it. Oh well, mo money mo problems.
  20. Thank you everyone, we have more to discover, let's keep going. Today I went to a shop , to see a S20 which is going to be my Z432's spare. Mr. Yamamoto is very passionate about S20, LY engine, he loves racing. Mr. Yamamoto said this engine might come from a Z432-R which was totaled , I will be happy if it is true. Does Z432-R's engine have racing piston, racing camshafts from the beginning? Alan , let us know. Kats
