  1. Lets cut to the chase, you build as supremely beautiful car, and for that I stand at attention and salute you sir. But now the time has come to market it and sell it. I watch BAT with daily regularity. A Z car just sold for 27k and it was not as nice as yours, but it was a 240Z, and inherently they get more money than a 280Z. So what to do. I like BAT, I think that when the planets align you get great results. They have had a GLUT of POrsches lately and I see the early Z's taking off to follow them. People who cannot catch the 911 bubble can catch a Z, and you get a better car to boot. I say give BAT a try.
  2. @HaZmatt, I just wanted to let you know that you can have YOUR thread back. The thread was locked due to it being hijacked but I just unlocked it so you can continue discussing the sale of your beautiful car. Mike
  3. The input shaft didn't have much, if any extra play Zed. I was surprised to see the broken sleeve as I haven't seen a failure like that before. If appeared to have broken right at the front cover, though I didn't study it close enough to see if it fatigued from flex. I donated a 4 speed to Al for the front cover and whatever internals he can use. Hopefully all goes well with the rebuild.
  4. Echoing what others have said, I'm sad to see you have to let it go. I read every post on your build log and it was certainly inspiring. BaT or eBay are good options. Please don't take this as a slight to your car, because it isn't, but I don't think BaT will get you $25-30. Most of the cars there seem to be in the teens, with this 73 (http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-14/) that went for almost $28 being an outlier. Of course, with auctions, what matters most is getting at least two people who really want the car, but that's never a guarantee. Good luck!
  5. It's been slow going the past couple weeks. Seems like life keeps getting in the way. At least he fiberglass part of this project is basically over with now. Using smaller pieces, though not as pretty, made for better results. I also realized that I've never smoked a cigarette in my life and have no plans on starting, so there's no sense in keeping the lighter. Got the whole thing covered with cloth and at this point, it's what I would generously call a hot mess. Trimmed everything down and marked all the voids and other areas that needed to be re-glassed. Fixed them all up, and got to sanding. Here's what it looks like this evening. Plenty of work left to do...
  6. It's a little too tempting!
  7. You could always have two Z's.
  8. Thank you sir. I wish there was another way too, believe me Iv'e thought about this for awhile. I do realize that I will regret it eventually but i'm willing to make the sacrifice. Besides I regret selling pretty much every car I've owned . If you can find the funds I would be happy to make you a great deal on it. I know you would appreciate it more than anyone. I would hate to sell it to some douche that throws it in a garage somewhere and doesn't truly enjoy it.
  9. Well. Sti diff is in and first test drive done. It hooks!!
