Door panel clear washers for Series 1

Featured Replies

Does any have a source for the clear washer used to attach the lower door panel on the Series 1 cars?

Thanks,

Don't know exactly what you mean with a "clear washer" .. i think a washer from colourless plastic?  I needed a colourless plastic round sticker for on the paint where the rubber of the tailgate comes when you close it.. and i found one in the giant stock of my painter, he has the straingest parts for cars in many many assortment boxes..

Maybe your painter has some for you..

I tried McMaster-Carr for countersunk finishing washers.  Found white ones, but not clear.  Hmmm...

Maybe you can make some out of plexiglas on a lath.. @Captain Obvious?

Can you give some exact dimensions?

With a small lathe, one could use a small clear dress button to start with.

If you want to take a deep dive into these door panel screws and finish washers,

here is a thread I started about 16 years ago.

10mm outside diameter.

Seem them on the couple of 69 510’s I’ve worked on recently as well doing the same duty.

What are those?  Lifesavers?  You nut!  Thanks for the pictures.  I'm going to write to a guy and see if I can have them made.

Actually, you can modify them yourself.

Step 1:  Remove from wrapper.

Step 2:  Insert in mouth.

Step 3:  Remove from mouth when desired reduced size is achieved..

Warning:  Leaving in mouth too long will make them disappear. 😎
