Significant 240Z Sale

    Recommended Posts

There is a guy in the Tampa area who has an astounding collection of S30 Z-cars.  When I first met him, he had several early, series one examples with low miles and in nearly pristine original condition.  I recall one of the cars had some of the original plastic interior wrapping that the dealer was supposed to remove.  Eventually, he sold those cars and replaced them with a number of Vintage Z cars from a collector in Georgia.  We probably know of whom I speak.  Point being, survivors like the one we are discussing are out there and I would guess that the $72 grand is about what they are worth.  What's a Vintage Z worth these days?

Although this car is not a particularly low number car. I suspect lower number or earlier cars would only add to the premium

Oh no, similar color combo. Mine lives in Baton Rouge. I talk to the owner before every LSU vs Alabama game.

Good luck with your sale. Cliff

Thank you. I’m trying to decide what would be a reasonable reserve.  Thoughts?

I'll tag Madkaw in a couple of hours.  He recently did a restore of a similar car and would be better able to give you a current value.

I get up too early when it gets this hot. LOL

Your auction company is charging a 20% buyers premium so that really means you will be paying for that with lower bid offers.  The car is in wonderful condition and the prices are still climbing. Good luck.

Who me ? Why would I be the expert ?

I would be curious how a non matching numbers car does . It looks like he has the money in it, but modified , so he needs to call it a resto mod. The 70 in my shop will be a resto mod because it won’t have original drivetrain .

Value would be based on interest ,  but he should get his money back
