http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/TripleSUs.htm I must admit that I am still only in the theoretical stages of my z car build. my 1972 240z is a nearly stock daily driver. I found the above website very intersting and was wondering if anyone out there new if a six carb setup could be found or if it is something that will have to be entirely custom fab work.

Hi, I was wondering what the pros and cons are to running the single downdraft setup? Also anyone out there who actually runs that system, just whether they like the setup. In the past I had run a dual downdraft weber setup and had issues with the car surging and was told that the issue was the gas pooling in the base of the intake manifolds and then when I stepped on it, it would suck up all that extra gas. Since switching to the dual su setup I haven't had the issue, but I'm getting tired of them not running right after the car sits for a while. thanks, Brian

Hi all, First, I will say that I still need to do all of the base tuning on the carbs, but I think that I have another issue. I am hoping (and assuming) that this is something simple. I am just not very good with the "dual carb" thing yet... Quick Summary - 1971 240Z - Mechanical pump removed - Electric pump installed on frame rail near tank - Brand new L28 - Brand new Z-Therapy SU's - Maybe 1 hour of run time total - E12-80 Electronic disti with MSD Coil - Current Fuel Pump = New Carter P4070 - 6PSI - Routing = Tank --> In-Line Fuel Filter --> Fuel Pump --> Lines --> Front Fuel Filter --> In Line FP Gauge --> Carb Feeded Line --> Carbs -…

Are these 3 screw carbs for the early cars? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-early-SU-carburetors-/220740326878?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33652615de Over what period of time were 3 screw carbs used? I thought someone might be interested in these... Thanks, Charles

I am getting my 40DCOE's rebuilt. I could have done it myself if I had more time, but I got tired of looking at them all spread out on the work bench for years. One of the carbs needs a new throttle shaft. The new shaft from Pierce Manifolds is not drilled for the pump cam. What is the best way to index and drill the throttle shaft correctly? I do have a drill press, but set up and technique is my real question. Thanks, Charles

I have a 72 240z completely stock. Car runs great throughout RPMs very strong! Once Ive driven around and temp is warm at a complete stop it idles around 1.5k and won't drop down. Also once I turn the key off pull out the key the engine remains on for about 5-8 seconds until it burns of the remaining fuel. First carb car any suggestions to fix this problem. Thanks for the help!

Is there anything to be giained by going from the standard roundtop SU's to a set of Weber DGV's?

Okay so my 1973 240z (all smog gear removed) wont go above 60mph in 3rd or 4th gear, kind of hits a wall. Pulls strongly through RPM range in 1st and 2nd up too 5000 rpm (didn't try any higher), change to third and all acceleration ends. Doesn't seem to be hunting for extra fuel, just stays where it is. I've checked my timing (with a strobe) it's set at 10 degrees @ 800rpm.I've tried advancing/retarding it with no improvement. I've got a new petronix ignitor (had one before replaced it as test) with new 3 ohm flamethrower coil (no ballast resistor). Just put in new NGK sparkplugs, re-checked SU float levels are correct, made sure damper oil is in dashpots, and that piston…

OK....New to the Datsun world. Have some questions. The car has a totally rebuilt engine, but it hasn't been run in about 3 years. When we went to start it, fuel comes out of the hose that's connected what at first thought was an overflow valve. But, upon reading, that's not an overflow.....It looks to be an air intake. We actually clamped them (there's 2, one on each carb), and the car started right up. But now gas leaks out the float....perhaps a bad gasket. But my wquestion, why does gas come out of these tubes. If it's an intake, it should be sucking in air. What if there's not enough oil in the reservior. Why is there oil in the reservoir?? I'm lost.

Hi guys, i'm robin from holland and bought a 260z 2 days ago. (i will introduce me in a short time on the site ) The Z has some minor issues that have to be solve. things like the rev meter doesnt work and lights etc. But there is a big problem, i gues, with the carburetor. The car starts immediately even when it is very cold ( now its freezing here ) and then with some choking the engine comes alive. I know that the carburators arent'n being running that good, but i can drive the car normal with sometimes that the carbs wont get some gasolin for a second. But said before, the carbs need some adjustment. When i drive around for a while en then stop en turn the car off i…

Does anyone have any extra ones of these? They're the springs that attach from the heat shield to the linkage of each carburetor.

This is the first time I have posted, so hope I'm not screwing things up here. Just wondering if anybody is running an aftermarket intake on there 280z. I bought a 71 240z with an L28 engine that has a Clifford manifold and a 500cfm Carter. there is also a 390 Holly that came with the car. From what I can determine, the 500 is prob. to much carb and I would be better off installing the 390. Is anybody using this setup?
