There must be threads about this but im a lazy arse so i start a new one. I removed front panel from my 240Z and now planning to restore it the best i can. Chromes from the side are okay but the texts have turn to green and there is green spots here and there. With what should i overpaint this? Did it originally have gloss, semi gloss or matt paint? Should i prime it first before actual paint? Have never done this with plastic.

Hello all The dome light in my Z recently stopped working. I checked all the fuses (all but the radio one is fine, I don't own a radio so, its not needed). I check the wire connection to the light and they're all clean and nice. I replaced the bulb and nothing, no light, nada. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Jan

Ok,...I need to replace the door panels in my 240Z. I have looked at all the major venodrs and no one seems to offer them. I have seen sets on eBay priced at $400.00 +. Kind of out of my budget right now. Where can I find a set of door panels without having to take out a second mortage?

I need to paint the metal trim piece that goes between the dash and the windshield. Is the stock color semi-gloss black?

Put some 8 inch speakers in the back behind the stock Interior panels. They are a tight fit to say the least. I had to remove and bypass the evaporation tank to make room.

I thought the antenna drain grommet, inner fender seals and cowl drain grommets were well tucked away... but did you know a small rubber lives inside the door and is a rest for the window when fully lowered? Here it is and also where it goes: See the bracket/stand-offon the bottom of the door with the rectangular hole? That is where in mounts. Another shot: I saw a photo of a rubber wire-tied there but I cna not find it now.

Unfortunately replacing the fuzzy trim is not a quick job like the rest of the weather stripping. The fuzzy window trim is actually a metal strip with a ribbon of fuzzy material contained within it to make an assembly. This was then stapled to the door panel's top metal section using an industrial stapler. Here you can see most of the fuzz removed except at the rusty old staples. Close-up shot of a staple Details of the fastening. Fuzz removed and staple exposed. I used cutters to remove the staples... not a fun job but not too difficult. There are many ways to fasten the new fuzzy trim assembly: - industrial stapler - air powered nail gun/staple…

Hello all My current full dash cover is coming apart due to the sun out here in Arizona. I'm thinking of ordering just the top section of the dashboard (upper half) instead of doing the full one. Has anyone had any experience with the one MSA sells. I know JCWhitney sells them also but those are a bit more on the pricey side (last time I looked it was 120 or something like that). Thanks all Jan P.S I know I can repair it using the methods described but I sadly have little time to do so

Been having problems with my 72 240Z loosing coolant. I tought i found the reason when i changed leaking pipe next to valve in passenger side. It didnt help. Just few minutes ago, i took the driver side carpet away for hoovering and noticed that the insulation foam was soaked wet!! It was worked as a sponge and sucked all the leaked coolant , there was at least a litre sucked in. It was steadily leaking trough summer and i didnt notice a thing, except that every now and then i needed to add a coolant. DAMN. I wonder how much damage this leaky core has made, i mean if it has leaked to transmission tunnel.. For core replace, do i need to remove dash..? I can seriously say…

The radio in my Z doesn't work. I need to replace it (I'm considering the RetroRadio unit) but before I commit to a radio, what I really want to do is get rid of the face plate that is currently installed in the console and replace it with something that's in good shape. The face plate that is in there now looks like it has seen many radios over the decades. There isn't much left to it anymore. I'll post a picture tonight. I've looked for NOS and reproduction face plates but have come-up empty. Does anyone know of a source or have a good solution?

Jan 71 240z I am ready to put the tools back. Does anyone have a description or photo of what goes where and how? Here is a stock photo of the parts borrowed from this web site. It seems to be missing a bag and chock.... and what does the rubber belt device hold down. I ensured all of the welded fittings behind the passenger seat remained exposed.
