ihiryu Posted October 22, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2012 Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has used the Old Air A/C kit?I hate to say it, but it seems like is a much better deal than the Vintage Air kit.http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/custom-street-rod-ac-units/700800-series-ac-systems-c-30000000_32000000_37000000.htmlThe kits seem to be a better buy than the VA units. What do you guys think? I was thinking about using the IP-800HC.
djwarner Posted October 22, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2012 The unit you selected does not have a compressor, condensor, drier, safety switch, hoses or fitting. If all you want is to replace your evaporator, VintageAir can sell you one for a comparable price.I just bought a VintageAir system and will be installing it next week. The VintageAir systems are designed to recirculate air from the interior only - no fresh air input. I'm going to try to save the fresh air vent by replacing the evaporator lefthand fan with a righthand fan so the opening will face the vent box. ihiryu Posted October 22, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted October 22, 2012 I still have my original A/C stuff, so I just need the evaporator. VA doesn't seem to include the control panels though. I think that's a pretty solid idea with the fresh air vent though.
Pop's Z Posted October 22, 2012 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2012 DJ, don't go to all that trouble...you have a fresh air vent on both sides of the car now...just pull the knob out.Cheers, Mike

sblake01 Posted October 22, 2012 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2012 I'm not even sure that unit would fit under an S30 dash.
