  1. Dan, That someone would be Bryan. @LBO730 He made excellent reproduction shift and handbrake boots in both vinyl and leather. A lot of us on the forums purchased them from him. We tried to get a reproduction carpet set made but it fell through. I wish it hadn't. The perfect reproduction carpet set has yet to be made.

Interested in the texture of this. The original dash grain pattern is unique. Is it identical, and/or does it compare favorably to that found on Just Dashes restorations? Their's is not identical, but very close.

You are so right Bruce! I am the world's worst when it comes to taking the Z off the road for any amount of time. Each day that I don't drive it is like that day is really missing something----sorta like going to work without your pants on!
  4. 73 E88 = hemi-Z well--kinda/sorta???

Rich- http://www.datsun240zrubber.com/apps/webstore/products/show/7319377 Contact Steve Nixon regarding the battery cables. He has reproduced them very accurately and they would look perfect on this perfect restoration. Don't fret that it says "out of stock"---he'll make more.

Thanks so much Philip @240260280 and @Lumens----but really, I still have so much to learn. I've understood about half of the TSB. It is a loooooong step by step with no shortcuts allowed--quite different from the earlier Hitachi carbs. The many adjustments required are probably responsible for the maligned reputation as " boat anchors" As you know, I have gotten the flat tops running fairly well. Now--- I know that the fuel nozzles are currently nowhere near the correct setting of .118---one is at .074 and the other at .051---just waiting to do a removal and adjustment as they are internal to the carb and cannot be adjusted while installed. I think once that is done they will really show some performance. Nevertheless, they have already made it from Bentonville, Arkansas to Austin, Texas for ZCON 2017, through the great Circuit of the Americas parade (?????) laps (where my "optimistic" speedometer read 104 mph down the straight ) and back home with no issues. (except for the flat rear tire from a utility knife blade in Killeen, TX on the way down----thank goodness for @S30Driver and @MikeW and @Captain Obvious). Running a 73 240Z with flat tops and points and stock springs may put me in the "old geezer" record books on the COTA track for a while to come. (Not sure anyone else would care to challenge that with a run of their own) Great fun! Let's do it again in Atlanta 2018!! Thanks again for the TSB---much appreciated! I will refer to it often.

  10. Welcome Mr. Grubbs! I would highly recommend: Not cheap, but very high quality and supplied to MSA by this forum's very own Dave Irwin. @Zs-ondabrain If the car does not have this get it---I wouldn't have a Z without it. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic10l/12-4651 Next would this----- http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic10l/12-4652 These are the 2 of best upgrades that can be done for a 240Z electrical system along with the DeoxIT Mark mentioned above. Please post more photos, especially of the engine bay and interior!

I like the way you staged the Hot Wheels Z'z to the photo. A twist to taking the Z for a spin "around the block"!--
  13. I agree with Patcon---diaphragm is ruptured or reaction disk has dropped---the pedal effort, increase in rpm and squishing airish sound are all telltale for one--the other-- or both. Crappy photo of the check valve location-----look just below the hood opening and just above the throttle linkage at the firewall----the check valve holder is above and to the left of the brake booster---follow the hoses, round and black with a little red showing---the red is the check valve.
  14. P.M. sent Ziggy!

Hi Rich--- Certainly NOT tired of the engine pics---beautiful work there! Not to worry about the red coil wire boot----I 'm pretty sure it would be correct. I purchased a NOS set of original Nissan plug wires years ago and it has the red boot. As installed on my 73 before I returned to the original flat tops---- I love your work and uncompromising attention to detail Sir! Your restoration of this car is reference material and the story should be moved by the Administrators to a spot in the "Knowledge Base" for safe-keeping. @Mike
  16. Here's us last Saturday at the site of the best bacon cheeseburger in Arkansas----1/2 lb. of goodness after a spirited run through the Ozarks. Wish you were here!! Left to Right-----Jim Smirlies, Kent Yount, Zup, Scott McElroy

Jeff, Regarding rebuilding your horns-- When I rebuilt mine the gaskets weren't available. I put them back together without the gaskets and they work and sound as original. Look up seller nikkibid1972 on ebay. He makes a reproduction restoration kit that includes the die-cut gaskets and correct new nuts, bolts and washers. I have bought a couple of sets. Nice kit. Rob does not have a listing for these currently. If you contact him with your request to purchase a set I think he will eventually put together another round of them for sale. Zup
  18. The NWAZCC meeting last night was great dis-cussin and fun. Good friends, very nice cars----plans for tomorrow's 3.5+ hour drive through the Ozark National Forest to Oark and the oldest Café in Arkansas. (since 1890) https://www.arkansas.com/attractions/detail/historic-oark-general-store-cafe/90772 Preparations for ZCON18 were murmered---such a good night we had! Thanks Gregg for coming home! Zup

I'd say YES, of course Chuck. There are no doubt several other early Z owners out there that haven't seen this yet that may be interested eventually. IMHO, Steve's offerings of plastic and rubber reproductions are the best out there. Just another little known item that completes the original picture for some, myself included. Many thanks to Site, HS30-H, Mike B and you for the topic and education. Zup

Nice Chuck! Would you be willing to send them as the "pattern"? Do you care to contact Steve Nixon with a request? I'm in for a set, if we need to start determining if there is enough interest to make it worth his efforts.

I have the rubber ring also but, I do not have the rubber cover for the T-handle. Finding one of those to have reproduced might be a challenge--- @Mike B @240dkw @zKars Any help here guys??

@nix240z Time to get busy Steve!
  23. @Patcon Charles-- Looks like the price dropped to $350. Worth it for sure, but he says "Make "serious" cash offer". A chance to haggle. Hard to tell by the photos but I think it is a late, late 72 (transitioning to 73---- Front bumper filler, bumperette spacing and emissions/ choke cable location on the engine are immediate indicators) A real mess, but it hasn't been mucked with----lots of original parts in the original locations Let me know if you go over the edge and get it. Interested in the flat tops--- of course. It is complete enough that it seems a part out is guaranteed to make a profit. (radio, steering wheel, grill, wheels, blah, blah, blah) I think you could make the 350 back in nuts, bolts and screws alone. All the Best, Zup
  24. Glad this got cleared up! You guys cover all the bases!!
