Hey, if California ever did break off and become an island....maybe during all the shaking and moving of breaking off it would also shake loose and get rid of all the bleeding heart liberals. I can see it now on the evening news....portions of Boxer and Fienstien found floating in the middle of a pack of well fed sharks...more news after this commercial break! Plus we might then have more coast line for surfing. Wouldn't that be grand!
  2. Yes, they are by Racing Hart (C4's)
  3. Gawd, you must be feeling lucky today! If I'm correct, the pair of cars you are talking about belong to a fellow named Tod Kaneko. And by the way they are not red but orange. I believe both car have the same style wheels. I think they are made by R/H. BBS, Volke, Fiske, and others make similar wheels.

ezzzzzzz, I believe Lance was talking about the rear calipers only. I don't think he is saying he has 280ZX or 240SX rear calipers on the front! He is using the 280ZX calipers as opposed to the 240SX calipers on the rear. By the way, the 240SX and 280ZXT rear calipers look to be identical. Anyway, the bottom line is, you want to use the 280ZX flex lines. As I mentioned previously, I ordered the longer of the two available 280ZX SS flex lines. Hope this is a bit clearer for you.

Vicky, you are so right.....no $$$ = no resto!!! Good gawd, I'm already into it for nearly $19K and I could easily drop another $10K.......oh lord, where does it all stop???

CTR98, while I'm certainly no expert on the subject, I do have a couple of suggestions. Alot of people go about changing this and changing that in search of a better setup, which is a normal process. However, making changes without knowing the specific reasons for doing so is similar to shooting in the dark without night vision....you might get luck or you may never find a combination that works. So, educating ones self about modern suspensions is essential to knowing why and which direction one needs to venture for a good setup. There are a number of great books out, by reputable people in the racing industry, that go into get detail on the subject. Secondly, as you likely know, starting out with a stiff chassis is essential to a good handling car. Lastly, and like must of the books will tell you, once you get a grasp on the theory and reasoning behind suspensions, it will by no means give you any specific answers for setting up your car, but only a good set of mental tools to work with. Experience with your car, under certain conditions, is the key to a successful setup. Sorry my crystal ball is out of service or I would provide you with the secret setups.

Yes it been done. I believe all that is required are the right side mounting brackets/gas strut form an appropriate donor car or possibly new parts. Of course you may have to modify the interior panel to clear the lower mounting bracket.

Dan, Ed is absolutely right on all he said. The log book and photos are so important as you will forget certain things as time passes. Plus, it will serve as a record of what you've done during your resto.

With the upgrade you are doing, definitely go with the SS flex lines. To determine what hoses you will need, first figure out what fittings are required at each end of the hose (front & rear of course). Next will be length. You can use the old stock hoses to see if they have sufficient length and figure from there. Most of the prefabed hoses will have specific lengths for specific model cars. Alot of outfits sell these SS lines and most all are of good quality so I based my purchase on price. I purchased mine from Jim Cook Racing in SoCal (visit their website) because you can talk technical issues with them and they have tons of experience with the Z cars as well as their prices were lower than the rest I looked into. If I remember correctly, since the conversion you are doing is the same as what I did, I purchased the longer of the 280ZX SS brake lines. I think I payed approx $70.00 for the set of four. Regarding brake pads.....get the best you can afford....like HAWK or AXXIS Metal Master. Hope this helps you a little.
  11. I concure with Carl. The only bummer is that you hide those beautiful aluminum velocity stacks under the K&N filters. These stacks do smooth out and increase the velocity of the air coming into the carbs. Also, changing the length of the stacks will move your performance power band a little......longer stacks, better low end....shorter stacks, better high end.

Will is correct! It was a smog prevention device. Typically when you get out of the gas you will get a richer condition until the rpm subsides....the smog police didn't like this situation as you can imagine.

Replacing the weather seals on the hatch might help but definitely address the fuel tank vent hoses. Also, I've seen earlier Z's (with only one gas strut) with hatch hinge failure! This would be the hinge closest to the gas strut. The hinge may just be cracked but weak enough to allow the force from the gas strut to prevent the hatch from completely closing. I guess a worst case senerio would be that the chassis is racked from a prior accident and the hatch just doesn't align well! It just never made sense to me why Datsun put just one gas strut on one side, when people typically will pull the hatch closed from the center of the hatch, creating a significant load on the one hatch hinge!!? As we know, Datsun later changed to two gas struts....hummmmm!!?

Hey newspaper BOY! Aren't you the one that started ranting about it being 2:00AM...not me! I happen to just READ the article that mentioned the girls started their little escapade at 9:30 PM. No wonder the news is as unreliable as it is, when we have folks like you working on them. :stupid:

And this is news worthy......right!!! Come on, these are teenaged girls! How much common sense can one expect from them. Maybe the OLD woman had it comming, for some unknown reason.
  18. I would think if you were hit from behind, as you stated, file a claim as usual! Isn't that what insurance is for? Now if there are details you are not providing us that may suggest something fishy was going on....well, that's another matter!

Stick to software Dave! :stupid: Just kiddy with you. You might consider calling a reputable L6 engine builder and see what they have to say about it.

Choosing one over the other is difficult at best! However, I would say that if sex and the big "O" would last as long as a good outting in a Z, I would choose sex...........can you imagine having an orgasm that lasts all day long??? Back to reality........I'll take the Z!!!
  23. Once again Carl comes forth with the truth and reveals the real reason the ZX series went into production........!!! Again, just having some script fun!
  24. I'm with 240znz and Vicky.... Very well put Vicky! And.....Red-Eye, you're getting weak brother!!!
