rb26 turnkey setup
How many miles are logged on the engine, what sort of service did it receive, and how hard was it used? Do you have a compression test readout? Very interested!

why dont z's get carbon fiber?
Greatwhite, Just to make a clearification........carbon fiber and kevlar are two different animals. Some manufactures use kevlar weave for the internal layers and then use carbon fiber weave for the external layer (for visual effect) to keep costs down. True CF race parts are usually all CF, are thinner by comparison, and lighter than the CF/kevlar mix street parts. Just some food for thought!

why dont z's get carbon fiber?
Come on Vicky, you know our toys (cars) are never really done, even if they appear to be! If you want CF parts, buy CF parts! I know with mine, which has been done and a driver for a little over two year now, I may just get the bug to turn it into the car I originally wanted at the start of the redo.....a 300+HP SBF w/5 spd, necessary chassis mods, fuel cell, Quaife diff, CV type drive axles, rollbar, and maybe paint job!!? I quess all it takes is time/money. Probably another $10K by the time its said and done. I do know one thing for sure....if I had that kind of HP I would certainly be using it. This would likely translate into EXHIBITION OF SPEED citations. Would doing this catagorize me as a future HYBRIDZ guy? Hummmm.....would you all frown and send me away or would I still be a welcome CLASSIC ZCAR CLUB member. (this should get some responces)

Zcarcreations Stainless Steel bolt kits opinions
Mark, When I was going through my 240 I purchased the SS bolt kit for the engine and was more than pleased with the purchase. Actually, I was surprised how well it was packaged including details about what goes where! I don't think you will be disappointed with their product. Tom

How do I test a voltage regulator?
One thing you might want to check, especially after a direct short as you described, is your fusible links. Check the repair manual for their location. It is likely that they are fried!!! Just a little food for thought!

Pedal Upgrade
I prefer to drive with combat boots on! Makes the heel/toe thing a real challenge! I'm just kidding!!! I have thought about some inexpensive driving shoes (under $150.00) as they look quit comfortable and I'm quessing they provide better pedal control.

Are '79 5 Spds any good?
As Stephen said, the N47 works just fine with carbs....mine is internally stock and runs like butter. I used the intakes/SU's from an early Z. Regarding the 79 5spd trans...I remember reading some time ago that this was kind of an oddball tranny (hence it was used for only one year). I would think it would be OK as long as you didn't want to put big HP in front of it. Anyone care to add to this?

Seems like a really clean and original 72'
I think the guy is dreaming, if the reserve is $19K. Time will tell what the market will bear! I'd give him $5K for it right now!!!

Idler pulley noise
deadflo, before you install the new belt, take a piece of 400 to 600 grit sandpaper to the belt wear surfaces on the pullies and knock off the shinny glaze. This will assist in a quiet running belt.

Intake and exhaust gasket
If you want the most happening studs, call up ARP fasteners and tell them the size and quantity you need. They are very helpful folks and truely support the motorsport industry. Their studs are a high grade SS and they have an allen socket drive on one end for easy install. Another good tip for reliability on the gasket.....be sure to check the torque on the stud nuts every once and a while...especially right after the first couple of engine heat cycles.

What makes a great plug wire?
After doing some homework on plug wires, I chose the Magnacore KV85 wires. As Blakes says about his wires.....nary a problem! They look great and clean-up well too!
