Z related questions(Australia).
Just a few questions I wanna do some work on my 240z next couple of days. First thing is I'm going to be replacing the rear drums and getting the shoes relined. I was considering upgrading to the ZX discs but I've been told this mod is not worth while can anyone elaborate? The second thing I'm doing is replacing the front rotors with ZX vented units and putting a spacer in the caliper to allow for the bigger rotor. Does anyone have some cheap ZX vented upfront discs that haven't been machined below legal limit cheap? The third is the speedo cable snapped when i was down at Calper park raceway I don't wanna buy a second hand 1 and have it break on me again so does anyone know where to get a good one from and if the one rarespares makes is any good? Next is the bulbs that suit the 240z guages. A long time ago i bought some for the centre three guages but they were physically too long and wouldn't sit in the caps(green ones) correctly and now they don't work for all sorts of reasons so I want to know where i can get a set of 4W bulbs that will work I'm told Hella any else know? There are a few other things but these are the things I want help with. I posted under MISC as I felt it was most appropriate. Cheers, Gavin.

R32 GT-R
I didn't know you bought 1 of these Alan. Nice car and great idea I just love the history of these Godzilla's. In Australia they dominated the V8 supercar scene and what's even more sweet about them is the fact they were practically banned for being too good. I can only imagine how fast the racing versions are

Go Veggie
just another thought maybe in 30 years we'll all be running our Z's like this .

Go Veggie
Pretty funny but at least he's trying I guess in some weird way . I respect the idea of using veggie oil as fuel but I think $40k is rubbish for sure. Unless it was researching being able to run on that fuel who knows. If I owned it which i couldn't see myself doing I'd definately change the paint job. First time I've seen an actual LD28 engine looks funny

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
hehehe oh well If I'm not happy with it I can always sell it and get an RB motor now can't i?

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
We still have to get my mate to dyno the thing just to see how much power it actually makes are the rear wheels. He's also said we should get her down to Calder Park and see what it does down the 1/4 mile. You have read about Norm the 12 second SU dude? Well the work done to my mates Z is very similar but I personally think alot more professionally done. So I'm confident his car will run into the 12's and I've been in the car also and it really does feel quick. I remember the first night I met him he was flying around in it and I had told myself he must be running tripples and when he popped the bonnet and I see 2 SU's I was so suprised. He says you "don't" really need the stroker crank but I've got my mind set on it now. We have a few options with it either find a second hand LD28 crank in Australia import it from America but it might be $$$ or actually get a crankshaft made. It's by no means the cheapest way to go with the engine I'm building. I had already came across a P90 an F54, the good distributor which i wish i knew where it was from I'll be posting pics to try and see who know's what car they are on. The crank which i don't have yet. I think you could swap an RB motor in cheaper than building the LD28 is what I'm saying but I just like an L-series

Poll: Should we prevent gallery downloads?
Well some interesting points, I too had thought we could implement an option to allow the individual to select if they want to protect their gallery but as Mike said it's not that simple. There would be a fair bit of code and research to do something like this. I had an assignment recently which just involved using Java to mail merge 2 documents and I found that pretty tough. :paranoid: . Another good option was to make galleries only accessible to registered members. That way visitors looking for images to rip off will at least have to go through the membership process and more often than not they are in a hurry to find appropriate material and will go elsewhere. The new system is annoying because you can't copy and paste text. The right click function is more than just an image saver. All it does is slow the process down and frustrate legitimate members. . I think the best thing is user discretion (spelling?) and if you do wish to post something else where at least provide a link to the original place it came from and some description. So I'm voting for No protection .

haha your right Alfa but I am usually online and up late enough to see what's new straight away. Still searching for that elusive diesel crank. I know Gee was willing to check one out up in Qld if that offer still exists I might need your help with it sometime soon. However back to the topic at hand

Hi Method you can check out the www.viczcar.com website from time to time i list as many Z's for sale as I can dont' be suprised though alot of our members are like you "looking". www.ozdat.com is another good place to look every wednesday it is updated. of course trading post. By the way good luck finding a Z is the hard part as Alfa was saying. I'd rather not disclose how much i paid for my Z because I feel it is worth more than what I paid. I also believe these cars are on the verge of shooting off into a higher price range. I'll just let you know it was under $10k but honestly I'd be willing to pay $10k or more to replace her for a similar condition car. Hope that makes sense it's awfully late atm

Ripped off?
Not meaning to make you feel bad Mike I know the effort you go to with this site. Just don't really think it's neccessary. Peace out
-
Ripped off?
I kind of have to say I agree with Carl on that. However it's not a big loss for Internet Explorer users you just move the mouse over the image for a few seconds and click on the disk that appears and you can still save the image. The whole problem is if you can view the picture through HTML you can save the picture it's already on your Hard Drive in the browser cache. The only thing is achieves is stopping computer illiterate people.

R-Factory GT-R
I still think it's a great looking car any idea what style of panasports they are I wouldn't mind getting a set for my Z if they are 16".
-
Ripped off?
Ok lets say I downloaded an image of someone's car off this site. Then I went into photoshop and played with it and changed the way the image looked the color of the car or the background etc.. Would you then still say there is a copyright on the image? I guess in a way it is but I am wondering what others think about this? :stupid:

Good Toyota 2000GT Website (Off-topic!!)
Sounds similar to the story behind my Z but a little less exotic. The original owner has it a few years. Sells it to the father of the guy I bought it off who has it for a while then in 1990 or so she under goes some work a fresh paint job etc. Since then was in the family till around 2001-2002 when i bought her and have no intention of selling for quite some time.
