  1. Could try opening the bonet and looking at them. If the have flat tops, they are flat tops. (If they are have curved edges thay are round tops).

  3. Abas 1970 240z LHD ex-CA car (in progress 12 years and counting) 1972 240z RHD (rusty project for 15 years in the future!!!) Now thats commitment! (or just plain lazyness. Just kidding)
  4. This means that it was the 60039th L24 engine block produced. When you take into consideration that the L24 was also used in other datsun models at the time. I dont believe that the numbers specific to the car, but to the block ( I could be wrong, as i havent researched this, the though had never occured to me before now). It then it becomes realistic that this number could have come from a 70's engine. eg the 240K/skyline was also fitted with the L24 as well as the 240Z, so then 2 cars could not both have the same ingine number. I havent seen any engine numbers for early cars. Or It could just be a early head on a later block.
  5. But the steering wheel is not from a 280z its from a 240z, unless Unless bill means he got it out of one of his other cars that a 280z, but originally its a 240z steering wheel.
  6. Not easy but, Take the p90 off and put a e88 on it (or N42). That will bring the compression up, increasing horsepower. The p90 has larger cc chambers (It has a 53cc chamber) than the e88 because its for a turbo engine, and along with the dished pistons lowers the static compression ratio down for the turbo. The p90 is supposed to flow better, but the e88 will have higher compression. Putting it on a flattop L28 motor puts compression in the mid 10's.

I was looking at this photo and the comments http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10045&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 Bill says in the description its a 280Z wheel. and Inf says its a 240z wheel, which I agree with. But looking past the wheel, its also a 240z dash, 240z center console, and 240z door trims. they changed the dash for the 260z. So my questions: Did they change it back for the 280z (Unlikely) Is bills car actually a 240z and he mistakenly believes its a 280z(Bill's the only person that can answer that by checking the chassis numbers and id tags) Or did someone swap the interior out of a 240z and put it in a 280z. Check out the other photos.   9. Yep. mine would be a 32 japanese woman with all the right curves in all the right places. extremely nice to look at, and even better get in and ride umm drive.

Just pull it out, pull the case apart, pull the motor off and connect it to a battery, and if it spins, then its working. screw it back on and lube the spindles with sewing machine oil, put it back together, connect it to a battery and see if it goes. it it doesnt giv it a bit of a shake. That what i did. and I left it sitting on my desk, connected to a battery for a couple of weeks. If you'd seen my car you would understand why.
  14. Yeah I saw that. It looks like it needs a lot of work. Definatly not worth the $4000 it was listed at. It's been on ebay since december last year, sitting in a shed rusting away. Poor car. Some people dont deserve cars.

  19. I'm guessing 71 because that what it looks like in the photo.., but the number i was looking at might be something else, other than the year. I'll try and track down some more information on the car from the owner, but I believe that he bought it as is, with the fairlady grill and fender mirror. Though it appears to be a "series 2 car" from the other photos i have, but i'll give it a thorough examination when i next see the car in the metal.

  21. As Darth Vader said "I find your lack of faith disturbing" I've seen the car, the compliance and nissan tags. What more "reported" proof do you need? Next time I see the car i'll take more notice of the numbers. It has the fairlady grill, fender mirrors, so i think its a japanese domestic model that was sent to australia. I took a photo of the plates. Looks like it arrived in Aus in 1971, but the photo is out of focus. So you all you non believers, heres the photo i took of the plates.
