  1. dkd021, I find it hard to find much of anything NOS (early Z related) for under $50....NOS hubcaps? I find it hard to believe there is a big stash sitting around out there somewhere. May be wrong and I hope I am, cause I need 2 1/2 sets myself. Inspection door clips...Chris W, Carl B., please put me on that list for 3 sets....Keep em away from Ebay please..... :nervous: david
  2. All a matter of supply and demand....
  3. Hi, its sold and delivered... waiting on the rest of the car to be ready... David
  4. Hi Bret, I walked into local nissan dealership, and ordered a 240z cam....it came internally oiled. Was told the 240z part #s replaced with later ones. Not a lot of difference, but I know for sure I have a cam thats not worn. David
  5. I've run with both oiling systems for 3 years now in race enviroment "ITS SCCA" No problems with stock oil pump, turbo robs HP,.....180+ crank HP.... YMMV, David Spillman

Imagine my surprise early this morning to see midwest z-car bidding on a new 72 dash. May not be the same, but thought I'd stir up the rumors. 7. Hi Corganx33... Where are you located? I could use a couple of engine stands... ...Whoops, Matt, Found you info on the other webpage. I'll be in Durham this saturday at the Z car show, any chance can swing by?... David Spillman W..1-800-228-8650 Cell..1-828-289-0098
  8. You can use eccentric bushings where control mounts.....could also use other means, but eccentric are easiest. david
  9. HI Sopwith, Run as little as possible on both ends...zero in the rear...fronts just enough to make it turn in. Replace all the mushy bushings with poly or delrin...check bearings. dragging wheels around is sure way to go slower in a straight line. david
  10. Try it again Sam. Deadflow... crankcase vent hose is one with the wrong clamp ....must of been a lapse of sorts...clamp theif maybe... david
  11. Here are a couple of pics.... Line to pcv valve comes from tube off block directly under #1 exhaust....
  12. Howdy, I've tested on chassis dyno both with and without airhorns....Without you'll get higher peak HP, but loose much of the broad torque curve the Z is famous for........I had about 5 HP inrease HP w/out, not worth the sacrifice of torque IMHO....smaller air horns create higher torque numbers generally while less HP.....lot to be gained and lost with airhorn size shape, or lack of. The hose off the valve cover to the backing plate for filter creates vacumn that can pull out a lot of air borne crap out of the engine while cold....I'm sure someone here can extrapolate further YMMV david

Sopwith, You need to section or shorten strut tubes.....to gain more wheel travel. May require different struts...Is there a spacer under your new struts now?.....Really sholdn't be bottoming out, bad on your equipment, speed. Sounds like you got the hang of power on over steer!! David
  14. Motor Sport Auto.. Check out their website ..I would swear they have em in their most resent catalog for like $32 a side, or pair. Good Luck, david
  15. We may both be right if they changed over the years.... I friend of mine has a one owner 75 he parked several years back, that I'll have to check out tomorrow for these elusive items.....I would guess these have been discarded over the years when knocked loose or carpet changed out, just like the plastic seat guards. david
  16. The 3 sets well, 2 1/2 sets I've seen appear to have started out as cad plated, mine are shiny....in spots. They very well may have started out painted black, I just haven't seen any. Why bother with cad-plating only to paintem? Later models maybe. david

I'd guess $650 door to door..... Go to dependableautoshippers.com or DAS.com....or something like that, you can get a quote preety quick online... david
  18. WOW.... I thought hubcaps were outrageous..... david
  19. Beandip, These clips are about 3" long.... David
  20. Chris, the third is coming to my house.....the fourth will come to auction in 5 days or so.... Find a good used set...$200-$300 have them refinished for another $1000....not much difference in price in my eyes. david
  21. I to feel it nuts to pay that kinda $$$ for hub caps, but I'm not seeing any other options out there.... Where would you guys search for perfect or near perfect, never used hubcaps? Foolishness?...Hardly david
  22. Its about supply and demand....and need it right now. NOS is limited.....I had a set of radio knobs I found in a box listed for about 30 minutes before they sold for $35 BUYNOW....I priced them too cheap I guess....maybe try one at a time next time I have em :surprised david
  23. Your gonna have trouble getting much negative camber without camber plates....lowering the car will help some, but without more camber your tires aren't gonna provide max traction...what tire/wheel combo you using? Excentric bushings, and a couple of other tricks can also give additional camber... Without adjustments at swaybar ends, you will most likely have some preload, which amounts to more spring rate at that end of car...I think. I've always set up alignment, corner weights..all adjustments with sway bar un-hooked, then adjusted swaybar end links so there is no preload while sitting. No adjustment on stock bar.....You have looked under there? :classic: .... The end links really needs to be adjustable....to avoid preload. Different attachment points on sway bar can be welded on as well to allow changiong lever arm length. david
  24. Here are a couple of pics of clips mentioned above.. GunnerRob described perfectly First is early 240 velcro patches Next is actual installed in early 260, but is same at least back to Vin 40,000. Intersting not in Micro fish.... David
  25. I've seen a couple in cars with original carpet they just help hold the carpet from sliding around....the front carpet had 2 holes that were under front edge of seat right in front of the front seat mount....that fit over a L-like inch wide lip ....not on early cars, but 72-73 cars for sure....After market replacement carpet kits may not have been stamped with opening so clips were thrown away.... Matter of fact these will be my first "experiment" with electroplating system. david
