Painless Wiring Universal Kit?
Mateo05, If still considering the painless way, I have the painless wiring kit I purchased for my race car three years ago...minus one relay. I decided not to use in order to save weight went with lighter 6 toggle switches instead. $75 for the kit....minus one relay, minus paper work that came with it. Not too difficult to figure out. Be glad to shoot you a Pic if you like. trying to clean out the barn david

auto tranny parts.........
I'll check on the weight of stuff....pretty dang heavy thou.... all I could do to carry it to the garage door. If I had to guess,it'd be close to 75-100 pounds, I'll carry the bathroom scales out to the garage tomorrow, and get you a number. Swapping to 5-speed is fun stuff!......if you remember that they made a couple different kinds of clutch pedals..... david

280Z, The Pics you have linked to have any additional info other then what pops up? I have interest, but like many, a car like this would wind up on the next back burner in line behind 2 other cars in need of "fixes". Lots of little knobs, & switches of interest. david

Early rotors.....Original style
Hi All, Several years back I removed one rotor from an early car VIN #3100 or so with the "hat" vented, or with 4 slots. Would this be an early aftermarket rotor or from the factory? I posed this question via private email to several early car original owners back 3-4 years ago with all not really sure if they had been swapped out or not...none had this rotor on their cars. My interest again raised after noticing several photos in the Wick Humble "How to restore" show these same Slotted "hats"Pages 81,86,91,214. This part considered a requirement for car shows, or considered a wear item? Is there still a source for these rotors? Full of questions, david

'toe in' on my rear tire problem
Pusher, Wheel shaking meaning what? Bouncing or wobbling? Take that tire to the local tire store and have em spin it on a balancing machine or just spin the tire manually to determine if the wheel is bent. If it's not bent, and your seeing a wobble while driving, yoou may have bent or broken stub axle...Dangerous......Hopefully not david

Car Collection Terminology and Standards
Erique, How ironic, I spent the last hour of light yesterday in a local JY looking for a early hcp heater control panel with chrome trim intact....Wasn't completely satisfied with my find, so I may seriously consider using the later HCP if for no other reason, availability. I respectfully make a motion to move relevent posts to and rename thread to,as Car Collection Terminology, description standards, or something similar.... david

'toe in' on my rear tire problem
Raising rear wheels off the ground and while grasping outer tire, try to rock both top to bottom and side to side...rule out bearing/stub axle being bad Stock bushings shouldn't move a whole lot . Good idea for all cars occasionally. Check out the condition and positioning of rubber bushings retained at the inner pickup points of control arm should be able to measure center of spindle pin to center of inner large bolt head:D and compare right and left side for both front and rear of control arm,if more then a 1/8" difference look at bent control arm........ Comparing right and left wheel base measurements may inlighten as well if bent you then need to decide if the blame spindle pin will come out.......replacing the whole corner is quicker/easier if spindle pin refuses to come out, swapping strut inserts is a breeze with spring compressor vs trip to the machine shop. Of course the hammer approach may "straighten",but risks seperating the spot welds. If your lucky the PO has installed eccentric bushings. Adjust as needed. or replace with aftermarket poly....although stock rubber will feel better for the street. PICS would be nice. david

Car Collection Terminology and Standards
Enrique, Describing the varying degrees of condition of a product is subjective. Condition is a relative term, The condition of a product will be descibed by 10 people in 10 different ways...if in enough detail and there is unmandated terminology available. This is the case in most advertisements. Buyer beware......Yes,we agree. I think. Varying degrees of "original" exist as well and to most somewhat subjective. ....... Edit..... Edit.... Edit..... Edit.... Editing post offered while in discomfort wanting that dead horse to quit kicking....... seriously Actual name, david spillman.... PS ebay ID: volgolf153q...for those sellers that believe I'm an unreasonable customer

Loss of power after high speed run

E88 on L28
Not sure of engines sold in australia, I really need to study more on datsuns outside the US..... but with the 73 240, that came with valve relief pistons...pistons had more positive deck clearance 73 model?.... maybe some influence on your piston design as well. You already no I'm sure, but there is interferance with standard bore 240 w/larger valves. david

Loss of power after high speed run
Dato, Don't forget linkage check to assure even opening of both carbs.....visual check should rule it out ....uneven airflow, linkage issue or bent valve. Long shot, but plug brake booster line at crossover to rule out leaky check valve, line or brake booster. just thoughts.:cross-eye david

E88 on L28
Ray, check your E88 head chamber size compared to PICS on Zcar.com PICS of E31....There are some Small chambered "E31 like" small valve, E88s as well. Competent machine shop can install your larger valves to early heads........with 280 no block modes needed, but w/240/260 will need to notch block for valve clearence . david
