  1. Did anyone notice the 2 seater (the yellow car) in the 1975 model pictured has the fresh air vents on the hatch like a 1970/71 Series 1. I can't tell if they are there in the 1970 example (red car) they have on that site. Re-edited because somehow "The Yellow Car" jumped to the end of the post and just deadended there, instead of after "2 seater" like I thought I had written it.
  2. That passenger side bumper bolt is the worst one I've come across so far. I cast my vote for it, haven't attempted the other one you mentioned.
  3. I bought a rear hatch patch panel from Courtesy Nissan a few weeks back. It was the least expensive one I have seen and I looked for a long time. At least $37 less the ones being offered on eBay every couple of weeks. They gave a discount, can't remember if it was 25% or not. Fast, personal and "courteous" service, well packed and as described. Gary
  4. I took a few digital shots, but they just didn't cut it so I busted out the old F3 and my tripod, so I'll have to wait until I can develop the film to see how they came out. No Z in the shot tho, would have been too hard to set up that way. Maybe a photoshop composite after the Z is worth showing off. Gary
  5. I looked at these for quite awhile and noticed no one was bidding. I actually went out and looked at my tailights, from the inside of car, and couldn't figure why anyone would put these on to make the bulbs even harder to change.
  6. I made "Gran Turismorator" w/ a score of 22%. Rather than a judgement of my mechanical ability I think this test only proves I'm a decent guesser/test taker. How else would I have made it thru college?
  7. Without my middle initial I got, Deputy O'Nutty -- At least I'm not sheriff. With my middle inititial I got Professor Out of Their Tree -- still trying to figure that one out.
  8. I'm 6' 6" and find there's enough space... way more than most modern cars. I am thinking of maybe a smaller diameter steering wheel for just a pinch more room to move my left leg around when using the clutch. If I was any taller it would be a squeeze. Nothing like my old college roommate's VW Beetle. I had to put both legs to the left of the steering wheel to shift into first. Once I was out of first I was never going back. The glovebox door had dents in it from my knees pushing against it when I rode in the passenger seat. My daily driver is a full size Chevy Pickup K1500 Silverado.
  9. I like the way you think -- my car will never be "museum stock" or even just stock "stock," but I like to think of it as a 1970. However, it was built 12/70 (just under the wire) and I got tired of the "it's a 1971" comments. So to most of the rest of the world I'll just call it a 1971, but in my head I'll be thinking 1970 because it has all the Series I features of the earliest cars and it can't help it if it's birthdate came so late in the year.
  10. My 1971 also had the hole in the tranny tunnel enlarged, as well as a small piece of the early console cut out. You can't see any of the changes with the shift boot installed.
  11. Maybe time to change the name of this post, I keep looking at it expecting Sunroof/Targa comments. Not that it's not interesting, but....
  12. I've never had the problem at home, just the one time at work and it went away. If I set the text size to the smallest the rectangle got narrower, but was still a pain. I never messed with anything in the resolution and the next day the problem had gone away on its own. Hope it stays away.
  13. It looks like it's not on dish's lineup http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/programming/CUST100ChannelCard.pdf. I have their top package and have never seen it listed. I'll see if my bro on the Wet Coast can record it for me off DirectTV.
  14. I have an offer to trade parts of my 1983 L28 Turbo motor for a complete late model non-turbo motor with SU carbs. If it can be worked out we've agreed to pay shipping each way for the swap. Unfortunately my trading partner and I are in opposite corners of the country. I just need some advice on what would be the most cost effective way for me to have his motor shipped from Florida to Washington State. I figure it can be put on a pallet and wrapped in plastic and truck shipped. Anyone in the Hurricane State have any recommendations as to what trucking line to contact or how much this would cost me? As my Florida friend only wants the goodies off my motor and not the whole enchilada it should be a lot less to ship my parts to him. I had been going back and forth on whether to put the turbo motor in my 71 Z, but have decided to stick with SUs for now so I feel the trade will be worth it if it doesn't cost me too dearly for shipping. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Gary P.S. This probably is in the wrong section of the forum, if so feel free to move it to where it really belongs.
  15. Yes, my dad loves those big Fords. He had the old rectangle on rectangle square sided Crown Vic, then replaced that with a Merc Marquie. Then he bought the more rounded Marquie. All in white of course, and except for the grill and lack of the big rubber push bumpers they look just like our Washington State Patrol cruisers. It is kind of fun driving the things and watching the brake lights flash when oncoming traffic sees you (he said with a sadistic chuckle).
  16. Is there a way to adjust the torsion bars? The hood on my '72 parts car used to stay up on its own, while my '71 car's hood will not stay up without the prop in place. Then I forget it's there and try and close the hood without putting it down (I've a bad case of Sometimers disease I guess). Sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't. How do you increase the torsion to hold up the hood?
  17. Yes, I've had people try to charge me for using PayPal when the money is drawn on a credit card. However, according to eBay, this kind of charge is not allowed. Either you take PayPal or you don't, you don't get to charge people more just because they charge a very small fee for funds drawn on a credit card.
  18. Yeah, that was what I was getting with the wider donations block. Now that I am home things are back to normal. Guess I'll have to see if its the same at work in the a.m. Has yours cleared up Bambi?
  19. Okay, it's not just my work computer, tried one in another department and still have the problem. It shrinks if I make text size smaller, but doesn't go away. Also, it doesn't seem to be affected by changing screen resolution. Also doesn't seem to show up except on the home page. Help!
  20. Is it just me or does anybody else have a large white rectangle blocking view of a good chunk of the home page? This seems to be covering the left half of the newest forum topics down to about half the list. I guess I'll try shutting down and reconnecting. Gary
  21. Sorry to keep flogging a dead horse -- but when the seller says actual shipping costs plus $3 handling charge in a "no reserve" auction, then he shouldn't hide his reserve in his final shipping cost. This is a dishonest practice and was only emphasized by the fact he is listing the same type item (size, weight) at "no reserve" with a higher start price and lower shipping price. Sure I believe in Caveat Emptor -- I guess I was just blowing off some steam. Update: I just checked his auction and see he has ended it early due to an error in his listing. Maybe he just entered the wrong shipping weight in his calculator (I'd like to think it was an honest error). Personally I like the US Postal Service Calculator I use because it tells the shipping weight I've listed to the potential buyer so s/he can decide whether I'm giving an honest shipping weight. By using the calculator I have to shuffle most of the stuff down to the post office to get it weighed (unless it's under 5 lbs), but then there are no questions about what final ship cost should be. After admonishing him for the high price of shipping and saying he should be ashamed of himself he displayed this answer in the auction he has now closed: A: I just plug the numbers into the the machine, I dont make the prices. I will check to make sure I have the weight listed right. Thanks For the heads up. Now I kind of feel bad, especially if it was an honest mistake. Gary
  22. I always try to include a shipping calculator. When the potential buyer enters their zip code the calculator will tell what weight I have entered. Of course I never charge handling (not yet anyway). I might charge handling if it was something very large. I learned a long time ago not to bid if I don't know the shipping charges, but when something seems crooked to me I just have to tell someone.
  23. http://zhome.com/ under accessories. They show a no long available aftermarket T-Top that I think looks pretty good. Here's the website and the story: http://zhome.com/History/240Accessory.htm If it was available today and didn't cause headroom or structural problems I'd go for it. Much nicer than a sunroof.
  24. I've been watching a 280Z padded armrest on eBay that's only got 2 hrs. to go and have been tempted to buy and adapt to my 240Z. Bid is at only $1 with no bidders. I guess here's why. When I enter my zip in the shipping calculator I get a shipping cost of over $23 by UPS ground. That must include the $3 handling charge mentioned with the auction description. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2492578092&fromMakeTrack=true His seller name is djd16 and he seems to also go by ZNZX.com The only thing padded here is the price with a false shipping weight IMHO. To prove my point he has another one of these with a start bid of $10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34206&item=2493254065&rd=1 Exact same picture and discription, but when you use the shipping calculator now the cost is only $12.70. What happened did the arm rest go on a diet or was the other one stuffed with lead. I think this is a dishonest practise and I realize Buyer Beware applies, but the tempation to submit a bid and figure how much can shipping be (when he says seller pays actual shipping plus the $3 handling) if I get it for $1. I'm glad s/he includes the shipping calculator or I'd be crying in my beer in a couple hours. He's got relatively positive feedback, but I say I wouldn't do business with him.
  25. Ouch! $2,200+ for an auto tranny, I guess I shouldn't have tossed the one I had. About the same for an R200 diff. I'm glad I don't need (nor can I afford) brand new parts. So dkd021, are you saying they sell items for about half the MSRP I'll keep them in mind for something I just can't find anywhere else and it's nice to know there are a few brand new parts still out there, but they're still out of my range. Are these the same people that list tons of stuff for NISSAN on eBay? The same ones who put the keywords 240Z in all their auctions and slow me down by clogging up the listings when I'm power browsing what's out there?
