For a Z with an ammeter, re-route one of the alternator wires through the glove box to a single pole Maxi Fuse holder. Use an 80A fuse in it. When you park, open the glove box and remove the fuse. You could pretty much do the same on the white/red wire going to the ignition switch. On the 280Z, you could interrupt it near the firewall connector C9.

Dang, I would have preferred the Staybridge as the primary.

17331-N4200 is used in 76 and later. Courtesy Parts lists it as NLA, but Nissanparts.cc doesn't list it as NLA (though they might list less information than they previously would). NissanPartsDeal.com might have it, but they say to call to verify. A few other places claim to have them, but I don't know the veracity of their listings/websites.

I need to put in the new seats, center console, steering wheel and headlights. The gas tank needs to be drained, too, and tune the engine after that. Those are the things that come to mind off the top of my head.

Come down to Georgia for a couple of weeks before the convention. You can help me get the 240Z in running shape and drive that to the convention.

Cliff/Jai, Whose car is has that engine? I see a pretty good crack in that head, right above where the boot makes a right turn down.

Unfortunately, tan could still indicate a problem with the head gasket (or head). Seeing it on the spark plug just means there is a valve cover gasket leak, too. The oil and coolant can form an emulsion that can look tan. I frequently see people describing it as "chocolate milk". Send me your contact information, and I'll pass it along to Chet Wittel to see if he can take a look at your car. If he can't, I may be able to, depending upon whether or not I have spare time before the ZCCA convention.

From my reply on the other thread: Just reading that there might be a leaking head gasket, my suggestion would be to try to see if there is an old Z enthusiast living nearby (Z clubs are great resources for finding someone.) who could take a look at it. The coolant should be inspected, as well as spark plugs, fuel pressure, compression, etc., etc.

The resistor is probably there to reduce the inrush current when the coil is energized. It also serves to drop the voltage at little going through the coil.

The 3PM check in is just to make sure they can get all of the vacated rooms cleaned. About any hotel I've ever stayed at will allow you to check in sooner if the room has already been cleaned.

I had one of those in my 240Z. It died after 14 years of very light use. I replaced it with a 280ZX ignition. If you REALLY want to do a conversion, search here for HEI. IIRC, you can use it to replace the TIU. There is even a thread about mounting the HEI module inside the box for the TIU.

Be careful, guys. He just wants to use you so he can tune your cars.
