The 7 inch form factor for the headlights is very common, and it is still used for Jeeps. Since Wranglers are popular that means we will benefit from the headlight availability for quite some time.

The voltage for the brake lights is interrupted at three places downstream of the fuse: 1. The switch at the brake pedal 2. The hazard switch 3. The turn signal switch. If you have voltage at the turn signal switch but not downstream, it could be the turn signal switch itself. With the turn signal stalk in the center position, you should have continuity between the wires on the outer part of the switch, pins 1, 2 & 3 in picture Turn_Signal_Repair_39 on the Turn Signal Repair page. There is a rocker switch (picture Turn_Signal_Repair_25) that breaks contact between 1 & 2 or 2 & 3 when you move the turn signal stalk. I understand about the translation challenges. I hope this explanation helps.

Review these and ask any remaining questions: https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/hazard-switch-brake-light-turn-signal-circuit-analysis/ https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/early-hazard-switch/ https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/2012/12/04/turn-signal-repair/
  4. Things to consider: 1. Was there a California emissions version of the 75? 2. If so, will it have the same equipment as a 77? 3. Will it pass the visual test on smogging? 4. Didn't the fuel pump relay, etc., change between 76 & 77?
  5. It's the Hoser Hut!
  6. A person selling an old car was less than truthful? I can't believe it.
  7. Patcon lives in the area.
  8. No pictures = just guessing. Go to http://www.zhome.com and research problem areas on early Z cars.
  9. I will get to the hotel Monday afternoon, Philip. I'll give you a call after Wendy and I get unpacked.
  10. For a Z with an ammeter, re-route one of the alternator wires through the glove box to a single pole Maxi Fuse holder. Use an 80A fuse in it. When you park, open the glove box and remove the fuse. You could pretty much do the same on the white/red wire going to the ignition switch. On the 280Z, you could interrupt it near the firewall connector C9.
  11. Dang, I would have preferred the Staybridge as the primary.
  12. 17331-N4200 is used in 76 and later. Courtesy Parts lists it as NLA, but Nissanparts.cc doesn't list it as NLA (though they might list less information than they previously would). NissanPartsDeal.com might have it, but they say to call to verify. A few other places claim to have them, but I don't know the veracity of their listings/websites.
  13. I like my idea better, Cliff.
  14. Chet lives about 50 miles from Jai. If I weren't so jammed up with work, I would make the trip.
  15. Christopher Karl with the ZCCA said the alternate hotel will be announced on Monday.
  16. Charles, I posted a question about alternate hotels over on the Delta Z Club page on Facebook. I'll let you know if I find out anything.
  17. I need to put in the new seats, center console, steering wheel and headlights. The gas tank needs to be drained, too, and tune the engine after that. Those are the things that come to mind off the top of my head.
  18. Come down to Georgia for a couple of weeks before the convention. You can help me get the 240Z in running shape and drive that to the convention.
  19. Cliff/Jai, Whose car is has that engine? I see a pretty good crack in that head, right above where the boot makes a right turn down.
  20. I am afraid so. They tend to be picky when it comes to judging. However, do you own the car to show, or do you own the car to enjoy?
  21. I'm glad I could help. Chet is good people, and he knows his Z stuff.
  22. Bruce said that is me, but I don't believe him.
  23. Unfortunately, tan could still indicate a problem with the head gasket (or head). Seeing it on the spark plug just means there is a valve cover gasket leak, too. The oil and coolant can form an emulsion that can look tan. I frequently see people describing it as "chocolate milk". Send me your contact information, and I'll pass it along to Chet Wittel to see if he can take a look at your car. If he can't, I may be able to, depending upon whether or not I have spare time before the ZCCA convention.
  24. If you live in Georgia, send me a PM with your location. I may know people close to you.
  25. From my reply on the other thread: Just reading that there might be a leaking head gasket, my suggestion would be to try to see if there is an old Z enthusiast living nearby (Z clubs are great resources for finding someone.) who could take a look at it. The coolant should be inspected, as well as spark plugs, fuel pressure, compression, etc., etc.
