Hoses are getting really expensive
Question, from the factory or on a brand new Z (if you guys can remember), were the hoses black or did they actually have a brownish or dark brown tint? The one in the ebay add looks brown and/or faded. Vicky

What do you do for a living?
I'm a collector/investor of fine high end automobiles. I travel all over the world to purchase rare and vintage cars. I bring them back in my own personal 747 which I actually hold a pilots license to fly. NOT I'm a loan processor and my husband is a ThemoDynamic Engineer which is a fancy word for residential and commercial air conditioning concept and design. Vicky

27th z!!!
A snake skin on the console!!! Be careful Chris, the owner of that skin just might still be residing in the car I received your e-mail about the "Welcoming Party" for the Princess but Scott's on call this weekend so I don't think we'll make it. I'm gonna try and convince him to go though. Jim Peters said the party was from noon to 1 pm...only an hour? Again congrats on the new addition! Vicky

Would you pay $3M for this?
I would pay $3 million for that car. It's such a piece of history. I would also restore it to the day it first laid a tire on the track. It would be kept in my private climate controlled garage along with my other "I wish I owned" cars. God I gotta win the lottery :tapemouth Vicky

New 350Z!?!
Nope, still don't care for it. Don't like the way the back-end (from that side shot) rises up. Looks like it was backed into a light pole. By extending the length, it makes the nob on roof even more pronounced. If they would just make the roof line flatter and blend into the rear (like our Z's) I might enjoy the view. JMO Vicky

wanted ideas on graphics for hood -non flames
Hey rusty260z, how about some "ghost Z's" painted on you car. I've seen a few hot rods with ghost flames. Looks really good because the graphics aren't so over powering. You could get the "ghost Z's" painted behind the front wheels where the motor heads normally put the flames. Even on the hood they'd look good. You have to be at the right angle to see them, pretty neat I think. JMO Vicky

When does your fuel pump start?
The fuel pump starts on my 77 as soon as the key is in the start position on the ignition. Vicky

Wanted, your opinion
Bill, does you car run yet? I wasn't sure if it's in running order or not. I think you should put money into the engine and get it top knotch first. Body mods can come later. Don't be like some folks (not Z'ers) that have all this stuff on the car but it runs like crap. What happens if you by spoilers, rims and such and find out you could have used that money for a major engine part you need. (Of course if you Z's engine is primo then the entire paragraph is null and void) Vicky

Point of interest
Here's a customizing tip. My husband covered the steering shaft in the engine bay with a chrome bathroom towel holder. Got it at the local Home Depot or Lowes. Looks exactly like the expensive chrome steering shafts that all the T-bucket folks use. Fit perfect!! Now that's the poor man's hot rodding tip of the day Vicky

What defines a 240Z a classic?
Hagerty Classic Insurance actually classifies my 1972 240Z has an "Antique". I'd be interested to see if anyone else who has a specialty insurance company covering their Z how they've classified it. Vicky

Charley's Comming
:classic: Hi all. We and the Z's are fine. Charley didn't even come near the Tampa Bay area as 26th-Z said. I think we got two drops of rain and a poof of wind. Glad 26th-Z made it OK too. I wonder how seerex made out, I think he's in the Orlando area. Thanks again for the concern. Hope all the other members along the east coast pull through. Vicky

Tired of being called names?
While waiting for the 77 280Z to be completed, we purchased the 72 240Z "Vintage Z". We've been called "rice burner" by our Chevy and Ford buddys from the begining. Scott even won a special trophy that says "It's Nice But It's Rice". On the top of the trophy where the little cup is they actually put rice in there! That same car won Best in Class (1970-1979) out of 100+ cars in that class alone, at a local car show a few years back. Beat out bb Chevelles, modified vettes, Camaros, Cudas, etc. Needless to say, there were some mighty pissed off people but the judges new the little yellow bone stock 240Z was something else. The 77 280Z won Best Engine at a Muscle Car show a few months ago. More PO'd people I'm sure. We get dissed by alot of people but that just makes the victory even sweeter for Scott. Vicky

6 speed?
I know alot of the newer cars have the 6 speed. But what would be the advantage of it in a Z? I always thought a 4 speed was best, no? Even a 5 speed, isn't the fifth gear just overdrive for highway cruising. I'd think a 3 speed with the proper rear gears would get you there quicker. Don't most top fuel or funny cars just use a 3-speed? Interesting topic zeiss150. Vicky

-- FREE ! -- White Face Guage files to print up on sticker paper!!!!
We have the white face guages. My husband painted the little bulbs with red fingernail polish so now all the guages have a red glow. Very cool looking. Now you can buy the bulbs in colors I believe. Vicky

Charley's Comming
You know whats funny is that's exactly what I'm worried about.........my cars. They are safe in a garage and are very well insured. I can replace my home but my Z's I cannot replace (or at least I wouldn't what to go through that again). Are my priorities all out of wack, am I obsessed? Vicky

Charley's Comming
Charley is on course for a direct hit to the Tampa Bay area tomorrow. Please think of all your fellow members in this area and other Florida members too who will be affected by this hurricane Vicky

Just bought a factory restored 72 240Z!
In looking through the documentation and paperwork that I have on my 1972 240Z, I find that Nissan referred to this program as "Nissan Vintage Z Pre-Owned Vehicle". Nissan documentation also states that these cars are "Nissan authorized remanufactured pre-owned Datsun vehicles that have been reconditioned to meet Certification standards". There's alot of reading, but in no area that I can see does Nissan ever state that these cars are "Factory Restored" as the term is being argued. I will do a complete reading of all the documentation I have later. Vicky

trivia
I suspect that to be very true what with how Datsun couldn't keep the cars in stock. Vicky

Hood wont close
Can you make some type of adjustment to the tension rods on the front. Those criss-cross bars. Vicky
