Z's on BAT and other places collection
Yes, I wear a medium and it fits nicely. It'll shrink up in the dryer, I'm afraid. Nice looking shirt.

Z's on BAT and other places collection
I just got my t-shirt today. It's very nice; big bold, full chest graphic with a 'Hunzinker' signature on the sleeve. Highly recommended, it's for charity.

The mystery of the secret Spare key box (in the frame)
You're not missing anything. Someone found a "Hide-A-Key" box on a couple of different cars and thought it was a NISSAN part; which it is not. AND in an unreachable location as 'DatsunZGuy observed.

Magazines: Perhaps the first German mention of Goertz in 1974
I think if one looks at Japanese design theory and practical trends in the late 1960's, that which would have influenced the expression of someone like Matsuo san and his colleagues, one would conclude that the S30 project was cutting edge Japanese design.

Magazines: Perhaps the first German mention of Goertz in 1974
Wilkommen auch! Your point reminds me of years back when little was known about the Vintage Z program causing me to start a conversation and collect research information. It grew to a lengthy conversation and, eventually, I wrote a dissertation about the program. I would love to talk about when the Goertz myth began and by whom. If not for entertainment! We all know it's a myth, that Goertz had little to nothing to do with the design which makes the conversation entertaining to me. Go for it! "hook-nosed aristocrat" Ha, ha, ha, - great!

Droopy sun visor
Fuzzy visors mean only one thing; you're screwed if you can't find the screw. And even if you can, you'll need a fuzzy screw driver or you'll screw the fuzz while you're screwing. I would say screw U to the fuzzy visors.

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Yes, I'm watching the pointy tip antenna as well. How about his $500 battery cable?! I know the seller and just sold him a few rare parts for ridiculous money. There's no shame anymore. But don't worry. Your fresh air duct is going to look great.

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Mind posting a link for that part? Is that for both sides or just the one? I agree with the gasket. The joint at the body duct needs to be sealed. Oh, never mind, I found it. Wowsers! Expensive

Jay Leno's Garage - 'The Beginning Of Z Cars: Fairlady Z'. episode Feb. 20th 2023.
Love this styling discussion. Especially from the guy with enough finesse to light his face on fire. What a "hero". All these styling comments from everyone who didn't talk to the guy responsible. However, if they DID talk to the actual designer, (I have), they would understand the influences that this car came from and how coincidental it was when it was introduced.

Steering column lower u-joint replacement part
I don't remember if I used that particular part. My steering shaft u-joint was worn out and I took it to a machine shop for replacement. They wouldn't do it for liability reasons so I took it apart, measured all the various dimensions and found a u-joint on the internet that fit. Put the whole thing back together myself. I remember also that u-joint installation between model years is different. Some had the u-joints peened in place and some, like mine, had a clip.

Reproduction Engine ID / Vin Number Plate
The screw finish is clear zinc. You need to measure the diameter of the shank. Should be 3mm. Just slightly smaller than 1/8".

air leak at throttle shafts
Well yea. I didn't think you would do anything like that. But how funny was that captain's question; "why"?
-
air leak at throttle shafts
Did you do that, or is that what you found when you cleaned up the carbs? Don't tell me you did that. No "crudely executed" about it. That carburetor is ruined.

Z's on BAT and other places collection
As I recall, Distinctive Industries was the vinyl manufacturer for the Vintage Z program. I have installed their interior vinyl once and I have another full set on the shelf. There are very subtle differences from original but one would really have to know to see them. Otherwise their products are first rate, fit very well, and look great. I don't think the embossing is an issue.

Ah. I remember talking about this a long time ago. Moved the horns forward to accommodate the a/c radiator?

240Z restorations, what's right and what's not
On my cars, the yellow paint (I assume lacquer) was blotched on with a brush. Fairly messy, seemingly applied in a hurry. So, I looked at all my glass, from both cars, and I can't tell what from the chart. I have some LAMISAFE M-146 and some TEMPERLITE M-215

240Z restorations, what's right and what's not
No, the yellow paint in that picture above is fairly conservative. IMO too neatly done, the paint marks thin and aligned. I think the factory application was far more sloppy.

I have never seen one of those. I would buy one, definitely!
