Thanks Alan, That is what I thought. It was designed for very early thermostat housings that have no fittings in that area. I have these early housings on HLS30-00249 & 147 but not on my friends 1973.

Thanks Mike! Yup you seem to have the side ports plugged. The two that I have are different in that they have fittings on the side ports and they interfere. btw cool arp bolts on the thermostat housing! First class!

I found at thread (pun too) by @Captain Obvious where he used a 1/2" -14 NPT tap to fit in the BSPT followed by a fitting. I'll do this but us a 1/2"-14 plug to remove the interference:

Thanks Alan! I'll install w/o the thermostat housing then grind off the unused hose fitting on the side of the housing that interferes and weld shut to prevent leaks. I have ~ 6 spare thermostat housing but none w/o side fittings. The later 260 and 280z have even more bits on the side. Here is an internet picture of a similar protruding fitting:

Cannon fits, the Harada does not.... it binds in two locations. The part marked in red is tight against the thermostat housing. I now have to find an early one with no fittings on that face.

Well I am installing one for a friend on my recommendation but what a piece of $^!#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does not fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've installed several Cannon, TWM, and even a Lynx but this is the first fitment problem. It looks great and performs well mechanically but come on!!! The Cannon that it replaced works fine. It will not fit properly against the header flange AND the stand-off for the rod hits the thermostat housing fittings. P O S !!!!!!

They haven't forgotten the economy field, however; in the same exhibit at the auditorium is a pickup truck that has a price tag of only $1875. The auto show is playing to record crowds at the auditorium, some of them not just lovers of cars. The nearly 300 autos have to vie for attention with many lovely ladies.
