  1. Though NS mag may have some early Z coverage, I prefer not to read through the other stuff to get to it. In a mag like Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car, I find the 'other stuff' to be more interesting than G35s and SERs and Xterras. 'Classic Speed and Style From Around the Globe' is just more interesting to me than 'The quarterly magazine for Nissan, Datsun, and Infiniti enthusiasts'. Plus, it's monthly for about the same price. JMO
  2. What does that have to do with the routing of coolant lines; which is what I thought this thread was about?
  3. What pump did you use? I only ask because my experience has led me to the conclusion that the only way to go is OEM. Your situation sounds like your car isn't holding enough fuel pressure to start and has to fill the lines and fuel rail each time you let it sit. After market pumps are notorious for that. Especially the ones sold by Autozone and Kragen. (Master E8312). They're junk. A bad check valve on an OEM pump will also exhibit the same symptoms.

That comes up as 'Mask-radio aperture'. #54 in the scan.
  5. That may be true but I'm not interested much in anything badged 'Nissan' after about 1980 or so. Like I said, I'm a 'Datsun' fan not a Nissan fan. Hey Bill, capitalize that "D" when you say Datsun.
  6. You might also try Hemmings Sports and Exotic. They seem to always have something classic Datsun related in their issues though not always Z cars which is fine for me since I'm more into the overall Datsun thing.

Note the differences in how the shifter mounts in these attachments.
  8. My 78 has it which could mean that all L28s have that connector.
  9. A BPE with the original stickers and equipment/alloy wheels would be worth more than the ones that have been repainted w/o the decals. But I agree that the price is too high. I wonder what the 1% is that's not original.
  10. It's all in where they get their information from. In the Japanese car segment on the TBS show 'Driving Passion', they refer to the Bluebird as a Toyota.
  11. Ain't gonna happen. Especially if you understand the reason for the use of the Datsun name in the frist place. The average public, which is who auto manufacturers aim for, generally have no clue when you say 'Datsun'. I am a Datsun fan, but not a Nissan fan. As far as I'm concerned, Nissan might as well be Ford, GM or Toyota. Oh wait, Toyota, Ford and GM actually support their older cars so that's not really a fair statement
  12. I don't see any problem with what you are doing. I just wish you had access to some 280 or 810 stuff. We have had an influx of spam lately (cialis, Christmas stuff, cell phones, ipods, etc.) but your posts certainly don't fall in that catagory.
  13. The Datsun Man thing I spoke of involved TV commercials. They even had stickers you could get at the dealers. I wasn't doubting the validity of the 'Datman' bank but nothing in those links indicate that any dealer other than Escondido Datsun was involved in the Datman thing unless I'm reading them wrong.
  14. As I recall, they did have a 'Datsunman' commercial campaign going back in the late 70s, maybe into the early 80s. But that was, as I said, Datsunman not 'Datman'. Must have been a campain for that individual dealership, Escondido Datsun, which does show up in my 'Fall 1977 Datsun Dealer Directory'.

Oh, they're out there, but they are on the considerably pricey side. A cheap one is about 200 bucks and they go up and up (!) from there.
  16. No mention of them in the microfiche. They're dealer or aftermarket add-ons.
  17. Motorsports has them if you can't find them in Australia. I had them on one of my previous Zs but really didn't like them since they let water, dirt, etc. in. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7BSA03/50-1451
  18. I can build 'em but sometimes I have a problem making them work right. (computers)
  19. How'd you get that to work?
  20. And a 'hey' from the IE, in this case, San Bernardino. Make sure you hit the SoCal Datsun get togehters as there doesn't seem to be quite so many anymore as well as the nest years' JCCS at the Queen Mary.
  21. You beat me to it, Ian. Pricey plus you can find most if not all of that stuff elswhere. And, by the way, your link didn't work.
  22. Okay, so it's not a Z but I wouldn't have my Z out on a day like this anyway. This was taken March 2006 in front of my house. This doesn't happen very often in Southern California.
  23. I talked to nissanparts.cc. They also say it's NLA.
  24. You should get a battery maintainer of some kind. I use one on my 320 Pickup when it sits for long periods and it keeps the battery charged.
  25. The dogleg tranny in that ad wouldn't work right in a Z because it's tilted for the Z20 (naps-z) engine. You'd want the earlier one but I'm not sure I'd use that trans behind a 6 cylinder. I have one in my 64 320 Pickup which has a J16 4cyl. I just don't know how it would hold up behind a 6. Plus, it's shorter than a Z trans so it would require driveshaft and mounting modifications.
