  1. Could be, hard to tell from pictures, but I can see what Mart is saying here. Could be just light effects
  2. Yours is very nice Mart ! I think the 280zx is more of a grand tourer, and it's interior and handling are much more modern compared to the 240z
  3. Those flat tops remind me on the emission carbs i am working on with the scooters:
  4. The service manuals are dated by year and domestic or export MODEL, the series term on the front is only to determine S30 serie(S ! ) I agree that $^!# is confusing, got me to in the beginning. I'm not here to fight who is right or not wright lol. If you want to call it a series 1 go ahead. It's funny i'm now about 15 years into restoring classic cars ( US and JDM ) and bikes to ) , what I find is that basically on ALL cars and bikes of that time period, changes through the years and even months occured quickly, because quickly changing goverment regulations etc. So every kind of classic club has it's own way of seperating changes throughout the years. Some became a myth, some are true.
  5. starters are dirt cheap around 70 bucks, just get a new rebuild one. A rebuild shop will prob charge more then reman
  6. It does say " MODEL " S30 Series though 😆
  7. That's not specific with Datsun, almost all brands had that in the day, because changes followed each other so rapidly. Some parts from 69/70 where left over and stuffed in a 71 with some new things together, I just restored a 1965 515 zundapp moped, some thing going on there, some parts from previous model 510, some parts from later model 517 allready. My 70 Mustang the same, it shares things from a 69, but not everything
  8. Guys there is no such thing as a " series 1,2 etc " ....
  9. Seems the hype is over for now, values are steady. I wonder how it will go in the future, because interest from newer generations will move to. How many cars from the 50s let alone the 30's pre war do you still see on the road ? They also become so expensive normal folks cant afford them anymore.
  10. The whole prize craze really started when banks started giving bad to non rates on savings. People started to invest in housing ( real estate ), art, classics etc.. anything with value increase over time
  11. In the past rubbers used to be softer, same with tires, these days they mix a lot of synthetic stuff in to use less naturel rubber €€. But the dis-advantage of naturel rubber is that it doesn't last that long and dries out quicker, but it's softer. With the Chinese scooters for my work they still use that old rubber in their tires also, but they are allready dried out in 1 year. With the mopeds with inner tubes to.. to old tires used to be soft, you could put them on with thand, without damaging the rim, these days i have to heat them up with an air gun to make em soft enough to put on without damage...
  12. sounds like a rushed botch job for big bucks
  13. There is an early 70 for sale on our local " craigslist " Marktplaats.. ≥ Datsun 240Z Coupe 1970 Series 1 Matching Handbak HELE VROEGE — Oldtimers — Marktplaats
  14. Pretty sure they didn't came with Weber carbs 😄
  15. I got a lot of original folders and old books from Frank ( see in this topic) who died of cancer. His dad gave me this. Pretty cool stuff, some rare to. I'll keep it. Here are just a few snapshots.. above

  17. This is just because the hype and value to them, from my engineer/mechanic point of view, I would never give 32k for that thing lol. These people that bid, make a calculation what it's worth restored, and take the bet
  18. It's HBM not HTM , yeah they have pretty good stuff, I believe most is made in Taiwan. I use a lot of their stuff in my workshop for many years now, not much problems, work fine. When they where still in their old building, i allready bought there. Their populairity has exploded now
  19. Haha it's a cover, they put their own logo on it , free advertising I guess lol
  20. Hi Mart, Matte finish i read somewhere is original the tailpanel, not clear coated. Yes this is 2k paint but not shiny. The rear deck lid i put clear coat yes.. These are my other classics, the Mustang just got new paint.. . The Kreidler 50cc is from 70 the Yamaha scooter from 1998, but these are getting classics slowly, and i wanted an original one, since i had that scooter when i was 16😄. Currently putting together a 65 zundapp 50cc to. This will be the last project so far..
  21. Valve adjustment done to, last one was 2 years ago i think... Cilinder 123 all where to tight, 456 only the intake
  22. I had to do something about the rear deck lid it was starting to get bad ( respray was in 2016 . The paint is still fine, the rust is starting in places out of sight. So far around the doors is still fine, it was only in the rear. And i think the tail light panels look close enough 😌
  23. Thought so haha, in my edit i posted that ,thanks
  24. 280 nos belt is on. Seems fine to me... Removed the taillight panel to get that original look and treat surface rust beneath the rear panel... Fun thing is i found a photo of one in the edit: Shanghai museum that is glossy? 😂
