  1. All this being said, there are certainly some duplicates out there! I know for a fact that some older Hondas had this same thing because my best friend and I both had Hondas of the early '80s era and our door keys were the same, ignition keys were different. This allowed us to easily prank each other from time to time. 😉
  2. I completely agree about the codes. I was reading it correctly except that there seem to be 5 rather than 6 locations for wafers. What I did wrong was select the incorrect options on the calculator causing it to use the wrong formula. you are absolutely correct with 1024 (assuming 4 different wafers and 5 positions).
  3. If I am reading everything correctly there are 4 unique wafers and each lock cylinder takes 6 wafers...this results in 84 possible combinations. https://www.statskingdom.com/combinations-calculator.html

Yes you can get rid of the vapor tank, here's some info on doing so: http://www.zhome.com/Racing/FuelTankVaporLineMod/FuelTankVaporMod.htm
  5. It may be worth looking around on https://www.240zrubberparts.com/ to see if he has them. If not you may strike up a conversation to see if he is willing to create/produce them (you may have to send him one of yours as a template to work from). Just a thought. 🙂

Here's a link to the ones I've been using for many years. They last outside in Texas a couple years, though they do have the 5 year warranty and will replace it so for the price you could get two if the first one does not last at least 5 years (as is the case for me). These fit pretty good and other than just not standing up to the Texas sun for more than a couple years I've had not issues with them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324313657809?var=513384273040&hash=item4b8299b1d1:g:8TUAAOSw4hlbdHqf&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAABAEc7YsKl%2FB4AHtIrP1FVTpSgZfIl7wNL7Slf%2BT0PgqvqgtH%2FdzVocttkdW1R2arJt6Bd8fza7ZVReZravGawoDpdm7cLnpB41%2BQPPirwrqeBslIOyV%2BPX0GeZazgK%2Fdt6gFZdMp6iFBm%2F4DdwWEsWsQN5wKZM7qZl0vMJGN3VyH635hE%2BALenRx0xJnzcX4evi8On7ht6d0jBSS6m6EpczGlr1hs%2FBxP3srsgAtUg1UW%2FY0anPf3mB7%2B0kY2xL6hdmrTL6xWFGzNAE%2FgXX1Hgwlse44wcBogw3Xi%2B%2Bzxp77bzReqBQc8tasWROLKGJ1R0w8B5c0TgoCXdsMgcu7tscs%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_rjlt71YA
  7. I have only ever seen pix of these vinyl tops. I agree, they are not for me...and I've heard from many (not just in the Z community) that cars with these tend to have rust under the vinyl.
  8. Easy answer, if the LEDs are that bright I may want to dim them down a little bit so as to not be too blinding while driving at night. Just wanted to make sure I have the option should I feel I need it.
  9. Do they work with the dimmer?
  10. That's too bad. 😞
  11. Jaime Sommers played by Lindsay Wagner in The Bionic Woman drove a blue 280Z (black interior) in all three seasons (1976-1978).
  12. Yes this is exactly correct. I've ordered from him and had no issues.
  13. For what it's worth Hung has a solid reputation from everything I've read. I have had no personal dealings with him myself...yet. 😉
  14. @conedodger gave the right hookup for reproductions, it is Hung Vu and he can be found on Facebook. Hung is in California and from what others have said produces a quality dash. For restorations you have Just Dashes and I want to say the other place was called Dashboard Restore though I'm not sure if they are still in business (and as I recall they were in Australia.
  15. Here's what I did... I trailered my Z to the local Z repair shop and had them drain all the fluids (radiator, engine, tranny, diff, and fuel tank)...this was because I was removing all of these and working on everything. They have the right equipment to do this and tanks to dump it all in which get collected and properly handled, no mess, no fuss for me to deal with. I then pulled the fuel tank and sent it to the closest Gas Tank Renu dealer (https://www.gastankrenu.com/). They are 3 hours away although they do free pick up and delivery in my city. They then proceeded to clean and coat the tank inside and out repairing any damage in the process. They also offer a lifetime warranty. Total cost was something like $460 last year as I recall. Process took about 6 weeks. After reading this thread to this point I'd highly suggest that you bite the bullet and take this route.
  16. Here's a '71 240Z on BAT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-220/?fbclid=IwAR3gJtE9Qj6RE-lG8Qyvm0QzacSyAUfi8yKMUQyAGrfAOryfmBpCVwZmFtE
  17. You have nice flowers though.
  18. That is interesting Alan, I truly thought that he made them based upon all discussions and information I had. Thank you for the info.
  19. He has been VERY busy as we come out of the pandemic. He's been backed up on orders and working hard to get them built and shipped. We did a group buy last year, summer or fall (I do not remember) and it recently arrived in town just a few weeks ago. That delay was caused by MANY factors such as supply chain delays, illness, other orders in front of ours, shipping delays, and so on. Be patient with him, he will get you taken care of. And remember that he is likely out building systems rather than sitting at his computer answering emails and texts...and I'll bet he's been getting a lot of them from people wondering where their parts are. He's a stand up guy. 🙂 Hope that info helps a little bit.
  20. I absolutely 1000% agree with @26th-Z!!! Do NOT do that, you will not like the results.
  21. They have much more, some of which may still not show on their website. One I saw pix of recently is the part of the firewall where the brake booster, clutch master cylinder, and steering column all come through...beautiful piece!
  22. Exactly what they are, it's in the description though not quite as clear ("and a front tow bar").
  23. Use the Z engine calculator to compute your compression ratio if you really want to know it.
  24. Please post pix and build date as S30Driver also requested.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is by far the best Z group on the internet!!
