  1. What's that Steve? Yeah I have to agree with the great engine bit. Getting performance out of them is easy and cheap too.
  2. Exactly my thought. He would have carried out the work himself naturally. Had he paid someone to do it then I might believe him.
  3. Ok, so that was mean:finger:
  4. You might be right. I only saw it briefly and I was in shock so I couldn't function properly.
  5. Is that all? I don't want to sound rude but if Carlos spent $100,000 as he claims and all he's putting down is 120kw on the ground then there's either something wrong or I'm missing something. Someone please enlighten me.
  6. Hi guys, I just came back from watching a movie and in the previews they had one for the new Pizza movie coming up. To those that haven't heard about Pizza, it's an SBS comedy show about these ethnics that deliver pizza and get in comedic situations. Pretty funny show at times. Anyway, in the preview I saw a 240/260? red in colour with cowl induction doing a burnout. It looked and sounded good but it was a short scene only. Now, this show is filmed in Sydney so logically you'd think that the movie is filmed in Sydney and that this car is from Sydney. Does anyone know more about this car? also If anyone buys High Performance Imports magazine, in issue 30 there is a black 2000GT Toyota (I hope that's right) and a red 260Z with an RB25DET from Sydney. Cheers
  7. Thanks trs, I called the RTA today and they confirmed the 1020 weight. Since they got it wrong on my rego they have overcharged me. There is a threshold of 1500 and anything over that they charge you more for rego. So the RTA owes me around $100. I'll have to try to get a refund tomorrow.
  8. Ok ok I must fess up. I have been researching a Chev 350 transplant for my Z.:disappoin Unfortunately, or maybe a blessing in disguise, the RTA's rules prohibit me from going ahead with this project. They have a formula for acceptable engine upgrades which goes like this... Tare weight x 0.294 = acceptable maximum engine capacity. In this case using NSW's Tare Weight of 1020 I can go as big as 299.88ci. Nowhere near a 350 Chev. If it wasn't going to be a 350 it wasn't going to be anything so I'm bailing on that idea. A couple of things... Prior to finding out that I can't legally do it I had a nostalgic moment working on my engine where I actually felt sorry for it and started to second guess my decision. The fact that I can't do it was a load of my mind. Fianlly, I feel reborn in a strange way and have more respect for my car. I can't describe it and I don't want to belittle my feeling by trying to put it down in words so I won't try... phew, had to get that off my chest
  9. My friend on another forum posted up a story of how he got in a cop chase last night and how he flipped his car over and it burnt to pieces etc etc. I must admit he got me.
  10. dero, generally cars are given female names but there's no reason why your car can't be gay... :cheeky:
  11. Thanks Mr C. I'll look inot it. But this problem will come up again when I replace the stock air box with a couple of aftermarket air filters. What do I do then? My compliance plate has always been there, as far as I know. It's a '72 model.
  12. Thanks Cuong. That sounds to be about right. My rego also says 'sedan' btw. Oh the competence of government bodies. Now, if someone from NSW could check their rego papers please. My thoughts are; >The NSW RTA system has the wrong Tare Weight. This is possible if the figures are entered automatically in reference to car makes and models. or >The Tare Weight is entered manually and they made a mistake when filling out mine. Cheers
  13. Can someone with a 240Z in Australia (NSW would be even better) please check their rego papers and tell me what the 'Tare Weight' is listed as. I think mine might be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time the RTA stuffed something up though. After coming off my license suspension they gave me a Gold license which you need a clean record for. :stupid: Please check rego papers though, I can't use guesses. Mine is listed as 1620 which looks very wrong. Also, what's the correct definition of 'Tare weight'? Is it car + full tank + driver or just car + full tank. Cheers
  14. It might help if you state the car model. I'd say there is no seperate switch. Check the dimmer (?). If that fails check your fuse. If that fails, take it to an electrician to check your wiring. Cheers
  15. I see, thanks halz. Still on the hunt for a car mate? I'd have given up by now. I envy your dedication.
  16. That is so much fun it's actually worrying me. It gets very hard.
  17. just curious what this stands for?

  19. In respect to 1 Bravo 6's "Precious" What is your cars' name? I don't have one yet for my Z. She has yet to earn a name.
  20. Good one Rick. Made my night that joke. (yes it's been a boring day)
  21. So it is Carlos then. The rally car (the one you he's spent $100,000 on) he has has seen better days btw. He offered it to me for $40,000 and I had to exercise lots of self control to keep myself from laughing.
  22. Just curious what everyones home page is. Please post links to make it interesting. Mine was Google up until recently. Now I've gone back to an old favourite How Stuff Works. This site should be used on an almost daily basis by everyone. You learn a tonne of things and well presented explanations are easy to pick up by the simplest of minds (read: me):cheeky: The Auto section is fantastic!
  23. Do you have pics Carl? ------------ Damage doesn't seem that bad but if you are the owner it's awful.
