Another classic one from Carl. Anyone for a red?

Factory V8 240Zs
Do you know why this would be? I thought that seeing as it was only a test engine and not mass produced that it doesn't affect anything.

Tools...
Yes, how could have everyone forgotten that? I just found a nice set of 3/8 wratchet set from Repco with lifetime warranty for $134. One of my mechanic friends will buy it for me at a discount though so it's a good deal either way.

Tare Weight
MR C. They aren't actually charging you too much. There are thresholds and once you cross it there is a standard rate charged. If, like in my case, they entered the tare weight over 1500 then you would be getting charged too much. I don't know the exact thresholds but one of them is 1500. Cheers

Close-up
Quality shot! This was my desktop for a while before I got a Z. ps. Photoshop the spot of sunlight just above the tail light. It'll look better but that's just my opinion.

So this is your car Lachlan. You know that this picture among a couple of others of your car were the first pictures I ever found on the net of the 240Z. Played a big part in my decision to start to search for one. Cheers ps. luurve the slotters. Just need to invest in some tyre blackener ;o)

This one is short and to the point
I somehow doubt that would be your reaction:finger:

Tare Weight
Lachlan, if I remember right, the tech sheet I had from the RTA rated the 240K as 1200 tare weight. 350 Chev anyone???

Flywheel
What was original weight Brett and how much did they take off? I gather from your previous post you want more taken off. Could you not notice the difference?

the search is over
Looks very nice:love: Congratulations.

Flywheel
How much does a lightened flywheel go for?

I'm just starting to expand my collection of tools and was wandering what you guys find as invaluable and must have for general work on your car? Cheers

Now you've upset the balance.

MR C, I don't know about WA but NSW only has sedan in their records so that's what they classify them as. I asked them about this.

Got another question.
ROFL That made me laugh so hard that I had to put it in my sig. Umm, I'm going to see Warren like I told you so we'll see what he says. He did show me a centre console like mine once and from that he told me that I'm after the chrome/aluminium ashtrays.

Got another question.
Hey Rick. I actually just found a pic of a 240 in the galery with a chrome ashtray top. Here 'tis Cheers

Australian resources
I was at the newsagent today and found this in "Australian Classic Car". Does anyone read this mag btw? I nearly bought it but saw that it was 80% advertisements so I changed my mind. Any of you Mexicans (read: Victorians) know about this guy? Lawrie Nelson Nisszed Spares 20 Kerrs Rd St Andrews VIC 3761 Ph 03 9710 1091 Fx 03 9710 1887 I was just curious if you guys know about this 'cause nobody has mentioned him. On a sidenote, I took a pen from their collection at the newsagents and wrote down the address. I returned the pen and a minute later I got told that it's against copyright laws to do that. Had no idea so I apologised.

Tare Weight
trs, shhhh! you're going to jinx me. They didn't actually admit anything. The gentleman said that he has to check the blue slip and that would arrive at the particular RTA tomorrow. If there was an entry error they would refund me the money. If not.... Funny thing is I got their tech department to fax their spec sheets to me which shows that these cars have a Tear Weight of only 1020. Apparently they are meant to use these as a guideline but the gentleman wouldn't have none of that. He wanted to check the blue slip. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing... If there's an entry error on the actual blue slip then I imagine they will give me the run-around.

Your Cars' Name?
I'm from Macedonia and our language dictates (ie, it's not a choice) that cars are female. Everyone I've ever known has also considered cars to be females.

"yeah, that's easy for you to say, you drive a...
What was the luxury car? The ZX probably was a piece of $^!# compared to it. Grim realities of life:disappoin

Tare Weight
So I payed the RTA a visit today and it looks like I'll be getting a refund of $120 as the tear weight was recorded wrong and I was overcharged initially.

A blessing in disguise?
Brett, you can fit an engine 15% lager than stock without engineering cert. Anything bigger and up to limit, it has to be engineered. The reason you have seen big V8's in NSW with engineering cert is because they would have been engineered pre '96. The rules changed around that time but these cars are still around and can still be registered. Lucky them! I've spoken to the RTA tech department, engineers and have downloaded some information from the RTA site itself. Here is the RTA information on light vehicle modifications

A blessing in disguise?
No guys, unfortunately that's it. That is the maximum capacity I can legally get engineered. For forced induction engines there is another formula. I'll post it up tonight as I've left the info sheet at home.
