  1. No doubt you will find half-cuts for that price. Whether they've done 37,000k's or 137,000 is another matter. All I'm saying is that engine is pretty fresh and would fetch a good price, especially in the US with Skylines being a bit rarer.
  2. Engine alone without loom in Aus sells for <$7000. One with loom clutch etc goes for alot more. Half cuts are easily in the 10's. Brembo brakes from a GTR are pretty expensive too. Rims are extortionally expensive. The low milage on this engine would fetch a decent price. Now add all the other extra tidbits and you have yourself a very good deal.
  3. Very good price. Just the engine and the brakes would cost more than the sale price.
  4. Looks like it to me Steve. "Race car, L28 engine, triple Webers, Half cage, 4 point harness, adjustable suspension, 8 x 15 mags, second car needs total restoration, heaps of spares including guards, doors, engine, gearbox etc. L283947281. Ph 0421 699 553 Woori Yallock Vic. $6,500" second car needs total restoration = you are doing me a favour by taking it away. Still worth a look for anyone near Melbourne though. What's that white square on the bonnet for?
  5. Don't know if this has been posted already but here goes Carpoint advert
  6. An English teacher was explaining to his students the concept of gender association in the English language. One of the students raised her hand and asked: "What gender is a computer?" The teacher wasn't certain, so he divided the class into two groups: males in one and females in the other. He asked them to decide if a computer should be referred to as masculine or feminine, giving four reasons for their recommendations. The women concluded that computers should be referred to as masculine because: 1) In order to get their attention you have to turn them on. 2) They have a lot of data but are still clueless. 3) They are supposed to help you solve your problems but half the time they are the problem. 4) As soon as you commit to one, you realise that, if you had waited a little longer, you could have had a better model. The men decided that computers should be referred to as feminine because: 1) No one but their creator understands their internal logic. 2) The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else. 3) Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for later retrieval. 4) As soon as you make a commitment, you find yourself spending half your pay cheque on accessories for it.
  7. I'd like to see what'll happen if we get them in Aus. You'd be likely to get your car impounded for that.
  8. Exactly what I've been thinking about. Japanese tend to be a smaller build race and the seats don't go as far forward as one would like. I have mine as far forward as it can go and it's just right. I'm not a tall person. The hand out the window doesn't suit this car at all. The seats are low (which I love. being closer to the ground in any car is a bonus) and the wipers get in my field of view but I'm used to it now.
  9. Congratulations. Hope it sucks your bank account dry but still leaves you grinning from ear to ear. Mine's a '72 and it's in mph too.
  10. Hi Michael For a short while (very short while) I considered doing the rb26 surgery. Only things that stopped me was the fact that I did realise I want to keep it original and the cost of the conversion. Anyway, goodluck and I hope to meet you one day to pick your brain and experience re this conversion. If you are keeping an expense sheet I'd love to know the final figure if you don't mind.

You don't need it and you don't want it. At least that's the attitude you should show. If you show him that you really want this car he will play you for all you are worth. And don't get upset as it's up to him who he sells to and how much he gets rid of it for. It is a sellers market in Aus afterall. Goodluck Chris. ps. wait for him to ring you back. Do not call him again.

It must be the drift style adopted from Japan. Only I don't see much panel damage which is also a prerequisite for the drift look. /end sarcasm
  14. It went a little something like this- Coming home this morning my car decided to die at around 4am. Alternator thought it was a good time to call it quits and retire. NRMA came and got me home safely. One of my mates picked me up and we get to the meeting point where there's over 30 Skylines with some wrx's, a messerati and a few other cars. From the word go we started loosing cars. Every second suburb there was a victim. By the time we got to Wollongong we were less than half the group. We met up with the datnet boys and girls and they fed us with their snags which was mighty kind of them. I asked one of them if there was any 240's in their club and for some reason one of them laughed. Apparently there isn't any. Around that time RB30-ZED (Steven) showed up with his 240. One very nice piece of work. We had a quick chat and unfortunately the group I was with decided to leave so we cut it short. Nice to meet you Steve:classic: We never went past the lighthouse where everyone was as we got reports police were handing out defects. A couple of my mates got one unfortunately. The lighthouse was pretty packed despite the police. The lesson of the day I guess would be- never understimate organisation. Can't wait for next years one.
  15. Like I said, there are different names depending on who you ask.
  16. If I remember correctly it's called shaving. The photo states that it is "frenched". I guess there are different names for it. The door is opened either through a button or a door handle under the door. There would be other methods too but I can't help you there. Here in Australia it is illegal for a road registered car due to safety factors. In case of an accident or any emergency the door cannot be opened from the outside therefore it is illegal. Looks damned good all the same.
  17. This cruise is set to be the biggest of the year. So far every car club I know has it's own meeting point and numbers are looking big. We alone have around 30+ Skylines so far. A couple are even cruising from Wollongong to Sydney to met us and then cruise back. www.datnet.org is going up as well so if you are not doing anything on Sunday make sure you wash your car and get on down to Wollongong. RB30-ZED will most likely be there so if you want to check out last months 'Ride of the Month' be there. George
  18. Been driving for 8 years, 1 fine for 111kmh in a 60 zone, lost license for 3 months and now the insurance companies are giving it to me up the *ahem* It hurts when you are young and they discriminate (rightfully so) for being young let alone loss of license. One reason why I sold my car.
  19. storm, what are those isma fender flares? anyone have a pic? So what is the biggest tyre you can fit on a stock 240z? I'm more interested in width. I had a look last night and there doesn't seem to be much room for anything bigger than 215s
  20. I don't think I've ever seen one on the road. Congratulations Alfa, hope you have fun with it.
  21. Why bother with something you'll drive a few times in your life when you can go to work each day with this... http://www.mclaren4sale.com/ I would have bought it but you can't register them in NSW so I had to pass.
  22. Aussie palm pilot
  23. Value of 240Z's in Sydney Aus according to NRMA (insurance company) is $4500AUD
  24. Unfortunately I'm a bit worse than I thought so I'm going to have to give it a miss.
  25. 24 over here. good to see so much diversity
