Nice Tank Mike, The date stamp is also great find,Oct 30th,1969.Is this car have a 11/69 tag on the body frame? The tank is E4100, I now learn 1969 240Z has a same tank like Fairlady-Z, Z-L. And no fuel vapor tank, great! kats

Hi, I recently have got a choke and throttle mechanism here in Japan. And I found something unusual of its cable area. (anyway this mechanism is for a Z432, as you can see the picture it has only one cable for the choke) Can you see the wire for the choke? It is not solid cable like we usually see. And there is a very long steel tube for the wire,it seems to me the tube is helping movement of the wire , not to be bend around a basement. I remember there is a technical bulletin for the changing of the wire for choke mechanism, a former wire was superseded by a solid cable. Solid cable for the choke, this does not have a steel tube, does it? So I think this mechanism is the earliest one.How about LOW VIN cars? Chris or Mike B can confirm their mechanism which has wire or solid cable for the choke. Also I found a interesting thing, the basement of the mechanism is reversible, for S20 engine and L20/L24 engines. This Z432's mechanism has a place for L20/L24: two choke cables on the back.It can be used for L20/L24 when it is reversed front and back. To look carefully into your mechanism(for L20/L24), there is a place for S20 one choke cable on the back. kats PS. Please refer post#88, especially the top left two pictures.They have an earliest throttle control mechanism with different apperance of the lever, but the choke cable is solid type,without steel tube.

Hi , I love this kind of topic.Chris, I have no problem with the repro fuel door knob on my car,please refer my web site,my Z432 is equipped this knob as a demonstration. About OEM parts, I think we agree if you put totally correct and new and clean and provided from NISSAN as OEM parts, that is the best. But I can not put all the parts like this, so I love to put repro parts if it is so good. Some parts are very difficult to distinguish, ZCCA does not ask to show a receipt of each parts buying.On the other hand ,if you put OEM parts on your car but lost receipts,you can not prove your statement unless the judges say "yes this is an original". At this point, you can put whatever you think it is perfect looking from any angle of view. Let's let the judges judge. The judges must have eyes to distinguish what is the original without asking and touching. If the judges judge this is correct, that is correct even if it is repro. In this case, repro maker beats judges!! Or we can say repro parts become real OEM parts can not we? These what I am saying is only applicable for talking about "car show", repro is repro, never been OEM. If you are 100% purist, you can not accept repro parts. The judges must train themselves harder and harder, and we respect the judges more and more. kats

Hi Carl, Yes that is the matter, and I asked that Mr.Tamura, he did not know why the stamping area is off set to the left. But he remember the area was much much bigger when it was under progress. And the area was seen overshoot from the rear bumper. He did final finishing touch of the panel, but a panel press team was responsible to solve the shrinkage problem. Mr.Tamura said the reason of off set must be the result of many tests made by the team.They tried so many times, he said. Alan,I want you to see this thread, I would like to introduce you to Mr.Tamura, you must see him. Many many things will be unvailed to the world , not from my english skill but you can do that Alan. kats

Hi Mike, Very nice paint job and restored tail lights,I agree not buying todays ones but refresh original 1969 lights, keep them forever! I envy your blue 903.I wish I had same blue on my 240Z some day. About a punched area of the rear panel, I have just come across the answer last week when I met a special person . That area is for the solution of avoiding bad shrink when the metal is pressed on the machine. I met Mr.Tamura , he was a finalist of the S30 styling (I should start a new thread of him) in 1967 to 1969.He told me many many things about finishing touch of the S30, his boss was Mr.Matsuo of course, once you hear his story,you will realize he did really hard work and his hands created beautiful body panel shape/lines/edges/fins/curves e.t.c. , and you will find you can not have this beautiful S30 without his hands. kats

And I am 7th owner of this car, when I got this car, the ODO was 28,260 KM. There is no paper to prove this ODO, but looking at general condition of its interior, I think this ODO is correct for this car in almost 40 years.Both seats are original and very neet, crack-free dash as well !! Originally came with head lamp covers, without fog lights and a rear spoiler. I want to see the inside and engine of this car when in 1970's. kats

Hi, Last week I dropped a book store, and I looked some car magazines. And I found one book showed silver Z432, well... The picture looks very old, must be taken in early 1970's.The car has an original license plate , that is 品川(Shinagawa) 51　る　28-98 . This is my Z432!! whao. Last year I went to the local vehicle bureau to get a registration data of my Z432 from the bigining.We can have it in Japan, everyone. I was surprised My Z432 was registered in 31th Mar 1970, and the first owner was not a person, Tokyo Nissan was. My Z432 must left the factory Jan 1970, so the registered little bit late. And the first owner was Nissan, these two facts means my car was used as a donor car for press(test drive) .At that time(still nowadays?) a new car must be registerd with in 6 months from the date of manufacture, so it is common the press car was registered with time delay and belongs to dealer/manufacture office. kats

Hi, I posted an interesting thing of a parts catalog in my web site. You can see it here,http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/philo.html Some of you already knew it, the parts catalog (both USA/CANADA and RHD model) has 5 page inserts, each paper has very good instructions for mechanic/sales people of the dealership, also they are very worth to read even for us now. Is this a Mr.K's idea? How do you say in English like these words, an instruction? philosophy? policy? We, in Japan, I have never seen such a thing in the parts catalog/service manual/bulletin e.t.c. I put a title "Mr.K's philosophy" for this page,but I want to know what is a best way to describe. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you, kats

And the car has been sitting/sleeping the outside with a car cover,without any news. Hi Chris and Dan, I did not know that, various kinds of script.I thought Z432's non-push cap is same like all the others.But script is different.By the way,push cap is for the Z432 reservoir bottle. NOS cap for Z432 says "REMOVE SLOWLY/ TIGHTEN" As you can see,there is no Japanese. And I looked up and found my Z432 old cap says "DO NOT OPEN WHEN HOT/ アツイトキ　アケルトキケン" Japanese words say exactly Do not open when hot. And the cap on ELVIC's car says "REMOVE SLOWLY/ユックリマワセ" Also Japanese words say exactly Remove slowly. What is saying on other car's cap? kats
