  1. Thank you , the book is very interesting and full of useful information. Just great ! Kats
  2. In this book , January 1955 , Datsun 110 went on sale . And B10 , Datsun Sunny was released in April 1966 . Kats
  3. Hi 240 in OZ , thank you so much giving wonderful information, your input backs up our decoding method. I was thinking about other Nissan cars , they might have the same coded Jack and tool , and now it looks like true . Your 1969 B10 has Jan 18th 1969 Jack , Bingo ! I don’t know why O means 1969 . In this method A means 1954 . We need to see older cars have this coding . Long journey. Kats
  4. Congratulations Terrapin Z !! The jack had been waiting long enough until you found it , what a miracle. Yes I see P F Y , that suites your car perfectly. Thanks for sharing this story. Kats
  5. Thanks Chris , Gavin ! I hope the work will be easy . Also I am praying the head pass the leak test .The S20 is sometimes notorious for crack around valve sheet ring. This one is not the auction one , but the seller is the same person from the auction one . Kats
  6. Hi , I picked up my spare S20 , I am so happy that now I can see it closely and I can list up what else I need for this engine . I see the head needs some fundamental work such as valve guide replacement, sheet ring replacement. And , the biggest problem is , No. 1 and No.5 Spark plug hole is something weired, someone drilled the sparg plug ,then plug’s metal is remaining in the hole’s groove. This makes me nervous, I have to find an engineer who can remove it and clean the hole . I don’t want a re-coil method if I can avoid. Other than that , parts are all in good shape , I don’t think I need to put my NOS parts into this engine.I will use this original component as much as possible. I will show you rest of parts when I am home . Kats
  7. Comparison back of the solid emblem family. Kats
  8. Hi Blue , thanks for the picture and your statement is very interesting, we need to discover it . Today I would like to show you this , A Fairlady-Z ‘s solid metal quarter emblem , an ultra early emblem . I have got this recently, and this is Right side quarter emblem as you can see “R “ on it . Attached pictures show the difference between hollowed metal emblem and solid metal emblem. I found the solid emblem is a little bit thicker than hollowed emblem. And it is so heavy to compare the hollowed emblem. I am impressed with this solid emblem is so clean and shiny, almost identical to the hollowed ones which are literally New In Box . I asked the seller if he has a solid Left quarter emblem, but he did not . As we already know , nearly 1000 Japanese Zs ( L20 and S20 models ) were produced by the end of Dec 1969 . This quantity is almost double of export S30s ( L24 model ) , but I cannot be optimistic, it is so hard to see the early production Fairlady Zs nowadays. Kats
  9. You see the single defroster line “ dead “ . Kats
  10. Thanks Gavin , it could be AU market car . Does AU market car have a set of “ lowered coil springs “ like Euro cars ? The car looks slightly lowered at front , the gap between the tire and the fender .Optional item chosen ? This morning I took my 240ZG as a commuter to an airport. In a cold rain dawn , but comfortable cabin . Kats
  11. Hi Gavin , I still don’t get what they are joking about, let me review it again. Today I have a question, what country was this red car be exported? The red must be #110 , RHD 260Z , And interesting turn signals and , it even got the fuel filler door knob !! This crisp and clean exterior make this car looked so beautiful , I wish we could’ve have this car in Japan . No exterior mirror , front grill, bumper over riders are my favorite features . Kats
  12. Thanks Gavin , I did not know there are some venders out side of Japan . Even they includes the eight shape gasket ! No need to ask Steve . And thank you for sharing pictures of your jewels , you did it your own , having fun and saving a lot of money . Here is a genuine Mikuni gasket kit just for your reference. Kats
  13. By the way , the left choke disc is an early type , the right one is later type . My spare set of Mikuni 40 PHH is an early type which has straight-head screw for securing top cover . They must have an early type choke disc but , later type is on . Today Mr. Shimoura ( Hakosuka GTR And ZG owner ) gave me an old picture attached on a wooden frame , he told me the engine is for KPGC 110 ( Ken & Merry GTR ) because the oil cap is a black plastic , and the carburetors has Philip head screws for a top cover .And the choke disc is a later type . Kats
  14. About a Mikuni Solex carb , what everyone is doing about this , eight shape rubber gasket . This gasket is not listed on a service manual / parts catalog because it is not meant to be disassembled. Please see the pictures, you see the eight shape groove on the cast jet block body . If this gasket deteriorated , fuel is not supplied correctly. However , overhaul kit never including this gasket . This gasket is sold by a few venders . The gasket is described “ Factory Mikuni made “ . I have some , yes I think they are genuine by the looks . Each one cost 1000 JPY ( 10 USD ) ! How come this is available, while overhaul kit does not have it . Anyway , I have bought some from a local Mikuni service shop . @nix240z , is there any chance to make this by your hand ? If demand is large enough , a price will be less than 10 USD ? Kats
  15. Here is a RB20 head joined with a L block . You are going to have same thing , fantastic ! http://sato1511.blog40.fc2.com/category47-2.html
  16. This PS30-00166 was registered in September 1970. Originally this car should have been painted with the red 905 . Kats
  17. I see over sprayed on the oil pressure unit and the chain front case too . Kats
  18. This is the engine which has never repainted. I can see the paint can color matches this non repainted engine block . I found hose clamps at a water pipe has over sprayed, this is interesting. Anyway only Japanese owners can have this paint can , we don’t have a judged show in Japan like ZCON , but I am sure this paint can deserves for a gold medallion car if we had a ZCON in Japan . Kats
  19. Hi Patcon , I didn’t know it is difficult to obtain the can outside of Japan . Today I painted the can to see how the color look like . I sprayed it on my spare L24-004556 , just a little bit right side rear end . In the picture, I held an alternator bracket side by side for a comparison . This bracket is the original , never repainted In the past . I see the can color is a little bit different from the bracket, but I see the can color matches perfectly to the original engine block which is in my orange 1972 240Z , never repainted in the past . Kats
  20. Thanks Gavin , additional pictures are fun to look at . Hi RS02 , let’s enjoy our Z together. Always nice to see owners in overseas. Kameari Engine Works is very popular in Japan , L Gata engine builders can’t do their work without Kameari. Recently Kameari is listing almost every S20 Engine’s “ necessary “ parts , that is also very helpful. Some of them are made in outside Japan , oh , I am waiting to hear about “ S20 replacement cylinder head “ which is made in Thailand. Kats
  21. This 80000 USD Z432 needs a set of magnesium wheels for 10000 USD , then it is still good price compared to when this car was first sold in the US . Mike , you can make it perfect using early Fairlady Z parts from your parts shelf . Oh , a set of Z432 coil spring is now on sale at Yahoo Japan . An exhaust manifold will show up some time . An aluminum radiator is bit hard to see but , It is not impossible. Kats
  22. Blue Dino is 215000 USD ! Half of average last year . Kats
  23. Mike , you will have a good opportunity to buy a car like this . This Red 110 car appeared to be almost same condition as the Silver 1971 one which I was talking about in this thread. I think market price is getting back to the way it should be . Price is corresponding it’s condition . The silver one would have sold close to this , 80000 to 10000 USD in Japan . I would not be surprised if a perfect , non restored ( maybe restored ) clean HLS30 were sold more than this Z432 in an auction in the US . Kats
  24. I can not explain well because I have not seen the car closely. http://bhauction.jp/pdf/catalog/005_1971_NISSAN_FAIRLADY_Z_432.pdf But seeing the other auction which sold a very clean , stock 280Z 2+2 over 40000 USD , I think people want a stock and clean car . If the Z432 were a kind of the one , it would be sold within a estimated price. Nowadays people who are potential- buyer know very well which is original and which is not . I think higher price deserves to a stock and clean car , just like the other classical cars . If this car had a stock coil springs , stock magnesium wheels, and sit it’s correct hight , would have looked much better. And the after market roll bars deduct buyers attention a lot . Other non original small parts , to obtain correct parts is tough but , you would be even enjoying to collect parts for a right shape Z432. Kats
  25. I was looking for an impression of an E30 with an L24 , thanks ! Once I asked about “ High octane or Regular gasoline for export model “ here , but I am not clear enough. What I am trying to say is , E31 would mean “ less compression, for regular gasoline “ while E30 would mean “ higher compression, for High octane gasoline “ . Export S30 ( 240Z ) started with E31 , we know it is higher compression than E88 , but originally E31 would have meant to be a less compression, regular gasoline , would not have it ? Seeing a parts catalog for Fairlady Z , when the car was started making , L20 had an E30 ( 9.5 ? compression) . Then after mid. 1970 L20 added a choice of E31 ( less compression , for regular gasoline. I forgot the ratio because I am in Houston Texas now ! ) . In Japan , we don’t have E31 with L24 ( except for racing cars ) because when the time Fairlady 240Z series went on sale ( Nov 1971 ) , L24 already had E88 . Nissan annunced Fairlady 240Z series is a regular gasoline engine which is good for environment. Kats
