  1. Thanks Alan ! That is a great infomation. At Aug 1973 , UK and Europe got the most powerful S30 ever, L26 with 161BHP or something ? At that time, Z432 (160BHP) was dropped from the Nissan's line up. I have read an article of a Japanese magazine about 240Z europe model test ride , the journalist envied the europian customers so much. I found these picture , the metalic brown UK 260Z was on an auction 2016 , and the 110 red 240ZG was on a sale in Japan 2006. They are very useful to look at . Kats
  2. So I classified them like this , At the end of Datsun 240Z / Fairlady Z and 240Z series ‘ s production, the most strict and complicated anti pollution system is for #1 US and Canada ( air pump , and a lot of piping , HMB 46 ) #2 Japan ( No air pump but a canister , HMB 46 ) #3 Europe and Australia, New Zealand ( just simple, HJG 46 ) Is it correct? You see the black bottle, that is the canister for Fairlady Z models.( except Z432 ) Kats
  3. About the Summer/ Winter air cleaner, after 03/1973 , Fairlady Z series ( except Z432 ) has a new bigger air cleaner which has the vacuum operated valve with a temperature compensation . Excerpt from スクランブルカーマガジン 03/82 , Parts catalog Fairlady Z 1973 . And I looked FSM and Service bulletin for 1973 240Z. Kats
  4. I found one thing that inferior to the door mirror is , I can’t see nore enjoy the beautiful rear quarter body lines and the C pillar emblem , if you have these fender mirrors. Kats
  5. Thanks Cliff ! Thanks Blue , I think I don’t get it correctl?y but , here are pictures. This morning I drove my Z432 to an airport. Kats
  6. Thanks Patcon ! Always I thank you all , here is my best English school for me , because it is " free " Kats
  7. Thanks grannyknot ! And that is a good question, fender mirror is easy because you do not have to move your head to check the mirror, you just slide your eye point to the fender mirrors. But not easy to adjust the mirrors, the best way is to have your assistant for your best rear view . And the fender mirrors can show the rear view relatively smaller than the door mirror I think . 8. Thanks 240dkw , that is what I expected. I will look up the FSM . Kats
  9. I have studied “ carburetor icing “ when I was a pilot trainee flying Beach Bonanza A36 then Baron B58 . Icing condition is more familiar with me for the wing icing. The interpreter is great but weird sometimes. It is like my writing in English here , sorry ?
  10. Thank you, I made a mistake. “ Provinces” in Canada , now I have leaned! And the later larger air cleaner does not have the flap, is that capable for the severe winter condition ? It might have updated function in it , might not it ? Kats
  11. Thank you everyone, I was going to ask “ how about Hawaiian 240Z ? “ As we have got these reports so far , US and Canada received the Summer/ Winter air intake for all states . Swiss have it , thank you ! How about Sweden , Finland or other Europe model ? Japan , we have a lot of snow in winter in northern area , but we do not have the Summer/ Winter air intake . I guess Nissan engineers imagined “ Japanese customers usually do not drive a personal sports car like a Z in a highway cruising with heavy snow . But foreigners would do , they traveled long , long distance that is usual thing for them “ I think sports car was very special back in 1960- 1970s in Japan . Fairlady-Z was not for everyone’s car . But looking at overseas especially in the US , Datsun 240Z was so popular , and the way of driving the car was very different, Nissan engineers might not want to take a risk of the problem, even it costed more money to put the air intake for all the cars of US and Canada . I have one more question about an air cleaner box , Dec 1972 ? A new air cleaner box ( larger one ) applied for the US and Canada , it was also applied to Fairlady Z models ( except Z432 ) . Does it have the Summer/ Winter flap ? And is that larger air cleaner applied to any other destination ? Kats
  12. Thanks grannyknot , and Alan . The test drive late 1969 in the US and Canada , apparently the two test cars did not have the function because they are the earliest car , maybe they reported back to engineers in Japan then it was added ? Or how about other Nissan SU carburetors cars , did they have the same function corresponding with S30’s update ? Kats
  13. Sorry suddenly back to my 240Z story , I have a question about air cleaner horn flap , we do not have this flap in Japanese model , is this for a Northern Canadian customers ? R12 gas was filled by Mr.Okajima at Kyoto Nissan as usual. Kats
  14. Thanks Blue , GT40 is nice too , Superfomance is making a very nice replica which is cheaper than a real one ( still big money though ) . Or , I found this , a group made a TIPO 33 replica for an endurance race in Japan . They picked up an used Honda Beat , then put hand made FRP body , they started from a model car . I think I want it rather than expensive Dino , if someone making it and selling it . Here is a link , https://ameblo.jp/plus10alfa/entry-10031135523.html?frm=theme AUTO ART Japan presented me this TIPO 33 when they were making a Z432 , they were measuring and taking pictures of my car . I wish I could have skills of making FRP body . My friends would love to do the chassis work . Kats
  15. I don’t know much about Sanny ( B210 ) , but I know there are many hard core fanatics in Japan , modifying them, racing them . siteunseen , is that the car can rev up to 10000 rpm when going to 122 mph ? Type A engine ? Kats
