I have studied “ carburetor icing “ when I was a pilot trainee flying Beach Bonanza A36 then Baron B58 . Icing condition is more familiar with me for the wing icing. The interpreter is great but weird sometimes. It is like my writing in English here , sorry ?

Thank you everyone, I was going to ask “ how about Hawaiian 240Z ? “ As we have got these reports so far , US and Canada received the Summer/ Winter air intake for all states . Swiss have it , thank you ! How about Sweden , Finland or other Europe model ? Japan , we have a lot of snow in winter in northern area , but we do not have the Summer/ Winter air intake . I guess Nissan engineers imagined “ Japanese customers usually do not drive a personal sports car like a Z in a highway cruising with heavy snow . But foreigners would do , they traveled long , long distance that is usual thing for them “ I think sports car was very special back in 1960- 1970s in Japan . Fairlady-Z was not for everyone’s car . But looking at overseas especially in the US , Datsun 240Z was so popular , and the way of driving the car was very different, Nissan engineers might not want to take a risk of the problem, even it costed more money to put the air intake for all the cars of US and Canada . I have one more question about an air cleaner box , Dec 1972 ? A new air cleaner box ( larger one ) applied for the US and Canada , it was also applied to Fairlady Z models ( except Z432 ) . Does it have the Summer/ Winter flap ? And is that larger air cleaner applied to any other destination ? Kats

The test drive late 1969 in the US and Canada , apparently the two test cars did not have the function because they are the earliest car , maybe they reported back to engineers in Japan then it was added ? Or how about other Nissan SU carburetors cars , did they have the same function corresponding with S30’s update ? Kats

Sorry suddenly back to my 240Z story , I have a question about air cleaner horn flap , we do not have this flap in Japanese model , is this for a Northern Canadian customers ? R12 gas was filled by Mr.Okajima at Kyoto Nissan as usual. Kats

Or , I found this , a group made a TIPO 33 replica for an endurance race in Japan . They picked up an used Honda Beat , then put hand made FRP body , they started from a model car . I think I want it rather than expensive Dino , if someone making it and selling it . Thanks Gavin & Blue , Looking at these cars, I found more beautiful and more rare car , more people want it , then need more money. The silver TOYOTA 2000 GT is a breath taking looks , I understand it costs 10 times more of Z432’s . Design, and quality of each parts , big difference between the two of them . However driving performance and feelings , Z432 is much better and more exciting than TOYOTA 2000 GT . S20 Engine was made by Prince engineers with totally new components while TOYOTA 3M was given a DOHC head by YAMAHA , joined with a regular M series SOHC engine block . One of the special feature of S20 is , the engine block has side bolts to secure the crankshaft cap , we think it is a racing featuring .Even superior to some Ferrari engines . But , looks comes first , other things next in generally speaking. Oh , my true dream car is this , Alfaromeo Tipo 33. Kats

It was a really interesting experience with a small Ferrari , especially Dino is my dream car . What makes a Dino 246 GT currently being so expensive than a Z432 ? Both cars have a DOHC , 5 speed , LSD , rack and pinion , electric ignition system . Dino is superior to Z432 having disc brakes all around , Z432 is superior to Dino having four valves per cylinder . I hope someone persuade me to prevent selling my all Zs to buy a Dino 246 ? Kats

Yesterday, my car had an air conditioning compressor replacement. I found big noise from it , and realized the bottom of it was very dirty covered by oil stains. I think maybe the noise was coming from the clutch. The York compressor is R209 type which is big enough to supply cold air in a Z . Kats

Hi Gavin , congratulations on your wedding! Also very interesting to read about Evie , your wife must be very helpful for your Zs .You are lucky man . When I married my wife asked me not to bring my 240Z with me to Japan after the graduation of basic flight training in California. I had no space in Japan so I returned the car to the previous and original owner just the day before of my returning to Japan . One of the picture , I found the date 19th June 1995 , I remember the day I visited the owner and so excited to seeing the real one , sitting in front of me . I decided to buy it for my birthday (18th June) for 1500 USD ,but I did not have that amount, he allowed me to pay 300 per month! I spend so much wonderful time with this car . This light blue 240Z was the very first car which I owned in my life . Now my wife seems acceptable for my spending time with my ?Zs Kats

Danny , I have read the thread , I was so impressed by the modified engine, what a wonderful work . A KA head on a L block ,I have never seen before . I have seen a RB20E (SOHC) on a L series block , this is very nice too , here is a link this is a cross flow head , so it is a good candidate for LY engine tribute . Kats

Danny , Sounds awesome!! I love the tunnel with opening the windows, your RB20 is very well tuned , response is sharp and quick . . What kind of ignition system do you use ? LHD S30 with DOHC , I have been thinking doing it but not any progress so far . You did it already ! I have heard RB series engines were only applied for RHD destinations due to the issue of the exhaust fabrication. Is it true ? Only Japan , UK , Australia, New Zealand, etc ? Kats
