If you ever come up to north Alabama there's an old junkyard in Ridgeville that has about five 280Zs. Bo Gibbs Salvage, http://www.junkyardlife.com/2012/04/junkyard-tour-gibbs-salvage-in.html.

240z spray bar + sealant?
I used the grey gasket material you buy by the roll. Most of my gaskets are made out of that stuff, I'm very impatient and most aren't stocked anywhere.

Chas you're like me. I'll ask total strangers for help on here but won't let anybody put hands on mine, they make me nervous.

Here's what I went by to fix one of mine, it's just flipping the rocker plates but it is nerve racking messing with 42 year old plastic stuff to get to it. But you'll have to I guess? http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf

1977 280z running rich, troubleshooting help
Auto parts stores should have a loaner vacuum gauge. Have you checked the Throttle Position Switch on the drivers side of the throttle body, small black plastic box you can pop the cover off and make sure it moves from contact to contact. You could clean all the grounds and the coolant temp bullet connections. Here's a few links that will help. Also could be a clogged up air filter or housing, maybe both. Cleaning the brass,http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electricalconnections/index.html TPS switch, http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tps/index.html Everything else on a '77, Tech Tips You'll get it figured out on here.

Newbie from Alabama. . .
Hey Brian. Nice car you've got there. I live in Gadsden and come to Anniston all the time, I have family in Saks and friends at Betty's Bar BQ. I'd be happy to help in any way I could, mechanicing or selling. I found mine on craigslist.com. Can't beat their fee. :classic:

"Wink of an Eye"
That's come a looong way since my Mom dropped me off at the hobby shop for the day with my Womp Womp. She kept coming back for me though.

ZCON 2015 dates.
The drive up won't be too bad, leaving the air conditioned Hilton to go see everything is what will be tough. But I'll be there looking out the window drinking a cold dog, like at the beach.

New Member,New(old 280)Project.
That's a sharp car you have! I've done the opposite of what you've done. I had 280s in the late 80s, now I have the 240 bug.

That's a beautiful car! My orange one was built in February of '72, VIN starts with 69 thousand. It came from Peek Oldsmobile in Huntsville. How did you find such a nice one? It looks brand new. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you the biggest Z car show will be in Memphis next year. Z Car Convention, ZCON 2015 | Hosted by the Delta Z Club. Maybe we could meet up along the way.

Last try on this issue
I bought that same distributor and a Crane PS20 Fireball coil from amazon. The distributor was a little more than $100 but no core charge and free shipping. The coil was around $40. Great set up on my 240Z, highly recommended.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Where did you get your heater core hoses, please sir. The work you're doing amazes me. Is this your 1st restore? Oh yeah, what are you gonna do for the bumpers? futofab.com has some 240Z black powder coated ones for $240, haven't seen the sheen yet but the semi gloss you're using would work for me. Look at post #13, http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/body-paint-s30/53303-msa-fiberglass-bumpers.html Thanks, Cliff

Factory Broken Head Bolt?
My '77 had one rolling around in it's N47 head. I didn't know what it was at first, the recess for the hex bit was completely full of carbon. I figured it broke over time, heating and cooling down of stressed bolt. Replaced with the ZX turbo bolts.

Yes, but I'll have to wait on Santa. I'm broke at the end of the year. Thank you for keeping parts for us at reasonable price.

Just my luck! After a week of carefully cleaning the OE ones, they turned out OK but not like new, I could've bought new. Those look great.

Looking for tips on how to approach getting to the heater core on my '72 Z
I've read where a guy put some type of valve in between the in and out at the engine bay fire wall right before it enters the cabin. He said it bypasses the heater core in the summer months to help cool the cabin. I can't find the thread right now but I will. It sounded like an idea I'd like to try.

Hey buddy, welcome to the club. You won't find more helpful information and people than here. They've been nothing but nice to my goofy self, we've had some good laughs too. If you need anything let us know, it's already been done and pictures taken for future users. Just when I get stumped and am ready to call it a day I can get on here and find the exact issue from 10 years ago. I like the color with the steel wheels and hubcaps you have, post some pictures for us car pervs to look at. Cliff from Gadsden, where four 240Z owners reside. I can't stand it! Here's mine.
