Back when I did this in the early 90's (when my car was actually running), I seem to remember times of about 12 - 14 seconds. This was unofficial results from my own calculations in the car.
  2. The bouncing point idea is good. Have you considered moving to a magnetic type system? They have conversion kits available for pretty cheap.
  3. His original message says something about a ZX pump. Steve, how did your oil do on the return trip? No problems? Or, did you say that you couldn't sustain the 90mph because of the cops? Anyway, 20w-50 Castrol is decent stuff. I wouldn't think it did that type of thing. Did you verify that the oil was in fact bubbling up at all? Or, was that just speculation due to the dropping pressure? Check the contacts for the sending unit and make sure they aren't working loose. Maybe you have a short and it gets worse as the engine heats up or as the wind blows through your engine compartment at 90+mph.
  4. Damn, this sounds like a blast!! I wish I lived in CA during the summer. You guys get all the cool stuff. Not much going on here in Oregon. A few decent events show up at the Portland International Raceway.
  5. One of the screen shots looks like you can ride a Harley? That would be sweeeeeet.
  6. Good luck.. With luck.. your pins will simply pop out.
  7. Yep, I'm back in Oregon trying to recover from timezone drama. (jetlag) Anyway, I'd love to get in touch with someone who can do this engine for me.
  8. I'm more than willing to try someone else. I just decided to go with ATK because they actually test the engine before shipping it out to the customer. I also heard many good things about them. But, alas, I don't think they can get the parts they need for this project. I'm thinking that this blue baby is probably more work than I have time for... so, I might be getting rid of the car so I can actually work on my yellow beast. Or, maybe I should gut the 280z 2+2 and sell the parts? It would be a shame because the car is in excellent condition and only has around 70k original miles. It just sat for over 15 years and needs new things.....
  9. Looks like they are coming out with another cool version of Grand Theft Auto III. It's called Vice City. Due in Oct here in the US. http://www.rockstargames.com/vicecity/
  10. Hi all, Just thought I'd post a message about my experience with ATK Engines. About 3.5 months ago I ordered an engine from ATK. I decided to use this company because I heard nothing but good things about their rebuilds. And, they also have a very good record because they actually TEST the engine before it leaves the shop. Good deal. Anyway, they told me it would be about 4-6 weeks before they would ship it. No problem, that was a little late, but, it gave me sufficient time to remove and prepare the car for the new engine. When the expiration date showed... no engine. So, I call ATK. Looks like they will need another 4 weeks to get it to me. Damn, I really wanted to get this thing running over the summer. But, ok... looks like I will be shipped off to Australia for business. 6 weeks in Australia... nothing. But, I do receive a call. They need another 2-3 months to get my engine. Crap. So, now I'm still down an engine and my other Zed isn't getting any closer to a finish line. Morale of the story.... Looks like ATK is no longer able to get the engine blocks for rebuilds... Unless this is just a phase, look elsewhere. Hopefully it's just a phase.

Well, another update... ATK Engines bailed on me while I was in Australia. I received a message that they called and then phoned back. They need another 2-3 months!! What the hell? Looks like I'll be purchasing an engine somewhere else (or at least getting this one rebuilt).

  13. Hey Cuong, Your idea is awesome. In fact, I've been considering the invent of something like this to make my life easier. The current system is set up based on a decision that I make. Ie: When it's time to change the ride of the month on the main page, I look through the galleries and make a decision. Right now, there aren't any rules and I make my decision based on quality of work, time spent on the system, amount of pictures posted, and basically a nice car. I am totally up for automating the system so that users can vote. That will require some coding skills and time. I have the skills, but, I really don't have the time to create a new system. If anyone knows PHP and SQL, I'd love to hear from you. This is something that I think can be done. It will just take a little tweaking.
  14. Hey Ali, Where did you get that information? I have been considering the import of a RHD Skyline ever since I got the chance to drive one in Melbourne. But, if we are going to get them in the US, I might wait until a LHD is available. Anyway, where can I look up more about this? [m]

Depends on your definition of porn.. :stupid: Some people consider Zcars pornography for their mind. I know sometimes I'd rather look at a nice car rather than a naked woman. Well, maybe not... umm.. but, cars ARE less hassle.

Holding a banner for 240z.org? Where's that photo? I want a copy of it!!
  17. Don't forget that Australia converted from Standard to Metric around 1960-1970 (?) . I don't know the exact time. Someone will need to confirm. But, maybe the first series of Z's were in mph because of this? [m]
  18. Don't forget that the 'law' was created because of extremely bad people. Ammendments and points are added as exceptions to the law for the people who decide to fight it. Because our system is soo screwed up, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're not altering VIN's and selling cars... then I seriously doubt that the court system will even bother. My uncle had this problem with an older Toyota Landcruiser in the CA area. He rebuilt the whole vehicle from the ground up.. So, he went out and cut a VIN (engraving) from an older truck and welded it to his frame (cutting a hole and fitting the other number in place). He's a great welder and the job looked top notch. Needless to say, he made it work. But, remember... the truck is his own restoration and he's not selling Toyotas on the black market this way.. It's all of the breaucratic BS that makes it difficult for us real fanatics to actually live life. Don't ya just love the US? Well, I shouldn't complain. Australia has these god awful speed cameras everywhere. Talk about BIG BROTHER watching you. I think it should be banned. [m]
  19. How about this picture? I really like this one. But, the hood is up and you'd have to cut it out somehow. Not a bad image to use on the main logo. http://www.240z.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=486
  20. Same here... I like the one with the lines better.

  22. Not sure about the engine thing. You'll have to get the engine numbers and cross-reference that info. Ask a dealer. Or, maybe someone else here knows. Get your engine # and post it. Used injectors? Hmm... I wouldn't do it. But, I'm a stickler for good components like this. In fact, if you asked me... I'd tell you to replace all of the injectors with new ones. It's such a pain in the arse to replace, I'd do it right. If they were easier to replace, then I would say yes.... At least get rebuilt injectors. That way you know they aren't plugged. I had some pretty plugged up injectors due to old hoses.
  23. Well, I did it... and I've been called a dummy (along with many other colorful names in the past). But, I don't know if you can replace the hose from the rail down to the injector itself. I just purchased all 6 new injectors and that particular flex-hose looks like it's permanently attached to the injector itself. As for all of the other hoses, replace them all when you have it apart... and make sure you use some compressed air to clean out the fuel rail at the same time. The injectors were fairly easy to replace and, yes, you need to pull the rail. There are a lot of little fuel hose clamps to remove and it's a job that requires patience. Make sure you don't bend the metal rail or you will need to buy a new one.
  24. Uh oh... do I sense a new alias coming?
  25. Can you take out the lines and make the Zcar shades of blue (leave the logo in full color)? I want to get the image size down to 15k or so.... This image is loaded by EVERY page on this site.
