Do I have to take out the glove box?
I've pulled out two Z dashes without having to remove the glovebox, as long as you lie with your head in the footwell to look for bolts, it should all go pretty easily, however a second pair of hands in excellent when trying to take it carefull out of the car.

Vive La France!
After looking at this, you can understand why something should be done though . This is intended as a humorous quirky attachment and nothign else, please take it that way (it could be taken far more seriously than intended)

POR actually makes a tank salvaging kit which is available over here, comes with flushing agents, cleaners and sealer as well as a small patch for repairing any minor leaks that may occur

Steering wheel - wood treatment
So carl, in spite of the stirring, these photos are to prove that the wheel is actually plastic right?
-
Steering wheel - wood treatment
I may well be wrong, and some models may be different to others, but when looking closesly, mine certainly appears to be of non tree origin. But it is a pretty convincing fake.

Steering wheel - wood treatment
The "wooden" 240z steering wheel is infact an epoxy based plastic (ie a thermosetting one) not real wood? Not sure about all of them, but mine sure is given the small cracks that it has in it.

Steering wheel - wood treatment
Couple of things i can think of for that. If its a case of just wanting the shine, you can lightly sand your plastic wood wheel, then get an epoxy based clear coat sprayed on (as long as its got the UV modifier it should work well) Speak to a boatbuilder or spray painter. The dash firm near us does steering wheel restos, and can put all sorts of finishes on it pearl etc, so a wood finish should be a doodle for them. I went to the local sushi bar after reading cats original post, and it had a laminex top

Flywheel
Not sure if its any use to us, but it might be good to be able to take to the machining shop (what I intended to do with it) http://www.datsport.com/Flywheel.html hope its of some use, but might pay to check it out before you go to these specs

DATSUN 240z Guard Badges
The thing is, I enquired about a set on ebay from a dealer, and he claims they never came out in metal, which I Know is incorrect, then he said they should be plastic for my car, but having lied to me once, i wasn't about to get taken for a ride, I'd rather know, and get it right first time. So anyone have a metal badge for sale, or better yet two?

DATSUN 240z Guard Badges
Looking for a set of guard badges to put on my Z (not in a hurry, just keeping my eyes open for a nice set or a well priced new set) but should they be plastic or metal? I have seen both pop up from time to time, but which ones would be strictly correct for the car? The car is a 73 240z RHD Guard=Fender

Siezed Tie Rod end
I broke the head off the axe, then snapped the pitman arm puller doing this, finally lashed out and got a pickle fork, three taps later and it just fell out. Go for the pickle fork, they can be had cheaper than breaking the pitman arm puller.

ABOUT TO BUY THIS 240Z.. What u Reckon?
For 5500, i would expect it to be in nice condition, but not great, if you want to see what you get for 900 have a look at my gallery, its not much but i figured on my budget it was going to be a full and gradual rebuild, so why start with an ok car, when you can start with a rough car put a similar amount of $ into it and still coem out with the same result For 5500 it doesn't look like a bad bus

Your Cars' Name?
For want of a better name, mines currently called "Chomp", for a few reasons, it takes a huge chomp out of any money i accumulate working, it had a redback spider infestation when i got it, and its taken that many bites out of my knuckles stripping it down, as well as dropped a diff on me, it had to be something violent.

Z died 40km from home!
I think from memory the guy was fitting alfa a new fuel pump, and a brake master cylinder amongst a few other little things.

Z died 40km from home!
The colour of fuel is an interesting thing, our LRP fuel varies much in colour, ranging from a light yellow throught to a brown colour. But in order for a fuel filter to clog up to that point, you would expect more and more gradual poor running. Could it be something like the new fuel pump being faulty?

A message for ALL !!!!!
I have no objections to them protesting, as long as they know what they are protesting about. However the vast majority of them are nothing more than sereal protestors in it for the cheap thrill, you see them week in week out protesting about one thing or another. On a lighter note, at the first big anti war protest they had in adelaide i got punched, merely for stating my opinion, and on pointing out the irony of a violent peace protest they swung again, i swear to god, if it hadn't been a 15 year old schoolgirl i would have fought back, assuming i could stop laughing for long enough. PS I Don't think lachlan would try it, becuase from memory, hes a little chap who might just get pounded into the ground

Let's build us a club race car ?
Come on ozzie guy, before the targa you need a good shakedown rally, make it the classic adelaide, then its at least got a fair bit of fellow Z competition.

A message for ALL !!!!!
Hell at 6'7, I'll give it a try. Might be useful to get rid of that damn rent a crowd of arts students who have parked themselves on the uni lawns, striking from school and uni in a protest against war. Its amazing the lengths some people will go to to get a free saussage sizzle, I can see no other reason why they would be there. :stupid:

Oil pressure
Just thinking, its probably one of two things, the gauge and or sender is cactus, or the motor is low on oil, not sure about the Z's (never had one on the road) but with my landrover, the gauge going down on braking was an indication that the oil was surging forwards, starving the oil pump, and decreasing oil pressure. Its probably not anything too major, when i had the Z motor runnin just to check it out, i had an eppileptic tacho, all over the shop. Good Luck

Original alloys on eBay - Aus
Well for the wheels, I have seen many sets, and don't reckon they're that hard to find, but good luck finding the wheel centres. Polished up with black paint in the right places, they look awesome. I recently had a surplus of these wheels, and i reckon RogerZ did pretty well out of them. I would personally never pay more than 50 dollars for a set, but thats just my opinon. The last set cost me 250 bucks, but they came attached to a parts car, the wheels have no gutter rash, and is a set of 5, so i say his price is a bit high. If you're that desperate for them, I'll swap you a great set of 5, and an average set of 5 for the wheels on your car

VIN/Engine number discrepancies
I beg to differ, My 73 has a mph speedo, as do all aus spec 240's (to my knowledge), I would say that the car with the km/h speedo has had it changed cos the driver found doing long division in his head too hard whilst trying to drive.
