  1. Having the same issue after replacing the same items. New mechanical fuel pump still hasn't fixed the problem. What worked for you?

  7. I forgot to show off my '71 240Z Vintage Dash. Love it!
  8. Another question for those who have 1970-71 240Zs with original side marker lenses. I have one yellow that has DOT on one end and one yellow that doesn't. Which one is original?
  9. Thanks for the info. I will give it a try.
  10. I have a 1/1971 240Z that has original side lights. They are in ok shape, just needing a clean and buff. The buffing is easy enough. The cleaning is another thing. They seem to be composed of two pieces that are nested together. There seems to be no seal in this nesting of the two pieces. The result is that there are small amounts of dirt in between the two parts. Anyone had luck getting this dirt removed from between the two parts of the lens? I've tried blowing with air and soaking in water with no luck.
  11. So, I have two 240Zs in the garage. One is a January 1971 (with everything on a 1970) and the other is a February 1971. The seats in the 1/71 seem to have been reupholstered at some point and have some hand cut, cheesy clear plastic between the upholstery and the seat back brackets. I see on the 2/71 that the plastic is thicker and precisely cut, fitting perfectly under the brackets such that I think that these are original. My question, to those with original 1970 240Z seats, are these plastic protectors used on the 1970 year? Or, is this just a 1971 onwards improvement?
  12. Many thanks! I'll give those suggestions a shot tomorrow.
  13. Thank you for the quick replies with the great level of detail! Are the original screws chromed, stainless or zinc?
  14. I have a Jan/1971 240Z that the previous owner recovered the seats and removed the seatbelt hooks. What size is the screw that attaches the hook to the side of the seat? If anyone with an original could post up a photo that would be great. I went to the hardware store and picked up some #6 and #8 sized screws. Both work, but I can't tell from pictures online which is closer to original.
  15. Thanks for the quick reply Dave WM. Pretty sure the leak is at the rear seal. I'l get under there tomorrow and check the side to side play in the drive shaft.
  16. I had my engine and transmission out of my Jan/1971 240Z for its restoration. While I had them out I changed the seals on the transmission. Afterwards, I still had a leak at the rear seal and went to a local shop to have professional install one in case I did something wrong. Weeks later it is still leaking. Anyone have some experience with this seal? Is there a technique I missed? Is it just two bad seals in a row?
  17. Thanks. I was thinking that was the case. Did the install Wednesday, but ran out of time to test it before heading out on a trip.
  18. That's the one I'm asking about.
  19. I bought the 60-amp alternator upgrade kit from MSA for my January 1971 240Z. Is it really a straight swap or should I be upgrading other things? What is your experience?
  20. I bought a set of the Euro taillights to go in my US spec 1971 240Z. The harness plugs are not the same. The US harness has a 4-wire plug and the Euro light has a 6-wire plug. Any one know of a diagram that would show a reversible harness I could make to bridge the two? Or is somebody selling a plug-and-play adapter?
