  1. I am ready to finish the exhaust system on my '72 240Z. The engine has some work done: .030" over bore, TRW flat top pistons, .020" milled off head face, 3 angle valve grind, '78 EFI and the electronic ignition, 6-2-1 ceramic coated aluminum header(exit of the Y pipe is 1&7/8". On the body I have a MSA ground effects kit ( front sides and rear). The trouble that I have run into is the exhaust exit cutout in the rear valance is about 6" closer to the center of the car than the stock position. I think it is the location of a 280Z, but not sure. The question I have is: Will the stock bend of a 280 pipe fit properly under a '72 240Z? I would like to buy it - have it shipped to my door - and install it, as apposed to having a shop costom bend the pipe for me. Any thoughts? - Jeff

  9. To replace mine I needed only to pry the nylon ball off of the linkage...... 'greased' the new rubber with a finger full of grease & pulled the new one on over the nylon part.... It was quite a strech, but worked for me. - Jeff

  14. The bore and stroke are the differance ... the 240 has a shorter stroke and smaller bore diameter so it will rev up much faster than the 2.8L on the 280ZX. In my opinion ..... a well tuned set of SU's are equal in power and performance to a fuel injected engine. If you want the best of both worlds ( reliability & fast revs ) put the fuel injection on the 240 block. - Jeff
  15. You took that apart....Again?? Wow that is nice looking!! - Jeff
  16. I will never try it again without the clutch alignment tool!! $8 well spent - I have used it on 3 different cars now. - Jeff
  17. Take the Yamaha out when ever possable and flogg on it!!! no, really, if you want the general public to turn thier heads... Modify it alot. If you want the Z lovers to respect, adore,& stare? keep it as stock as possable. MHO.. - Jeff
  18. Shannon - A good set of metric wrenches.... For the trans job, 10mm thru 17mm in both box end/open end & 3/8 drive sockets with 3" & 6" extentions will remove & replace parts. ****** Amen Victor **** - Jeff
  19. I installed a '78 N47 head/FI and electronic ignition on my 2.4L block - All things considered - it was easy. The wiring was completly adding to the existing. Made starting perfect! made for a very fast revving engine. I love what it did for me! - Jeff

  21. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only thing that I can think of that pumping the pedal would do would be giving it some more air during cranking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- which is what we don't want, right? The whole idea of the choke it to temporarilly enrich the mixture to allow cold starting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More air will raise the compression. - Jeff
  22. My guess is that the seats are not leather. Also as texasz posted about the PS,PB. Power brakes it does have ---- vaccuum assisted. - Jeff
  23. Read my signature....... starts on the first piston to the top no matter the weather!! - Jeff
  24. The only thing that I can think of that pumping the pedal would do would be giving it some more air during cranking. As Dtsnlvrs stated --- there is no accelerator pump on a pair of SUs. - Jeff
  25. Oh .. by the way.. that connector is not a Quick disconect. That type is ment to be a perminent splice/tap in. - Jeff
