  1. That was the saddest day in Australian Racing History, congrats on your new baby, post the #'s after you get it. [wonder if the nose would fit]???? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  2. I omitted one thing in the last post and that was those "choke" dashpots where the only thing that I found didn't have a major effect on performance. In other works if you disconnect them there is no noticable effect.
  3. Victor, I'm doing this from memory as the car is at home, I'm at work! From memory the dashpot you refer to isn't actually the acelerator pump. It actually has sometrhing to do with choking. There is a "U" shape vac line that contects from the top of the carb to the "pot". The accelerator pump is the round part held onto the body of the carbs by 3 screws. The rebuild kit contains the rubbers, seals to rebuild these. Becareful what you remove as far as smog gear, personally I wouldn't remove the water as it has a cooling effect when in heat. Mike

  5. At last remembered to get a snap of it.

  7. What ever it is it doesn't work for me! ROFL ROFL
  8. Ah, OK then, I didn't realise it was already in car. What, which car etc..... Also you can check the diff if you can get the boths wheels up. They both should turn in the same direction if it's LS, else if they turn in opposite then it's standard, can't help you with ratio though!
  9. No idea if it ever existed apart from the V6 EFI. If it did exist then it would probably have been down draft of some description or triple SU!
  10. Can't understand how you lot missed it? I rated it 6 out of 5, if only........
  11. Zedrally replied to 24OZ's topic in Interior
I for one would love to have one. Remember seeing this on Zhome several years ago, do you have the original flyer George?
  12. Zedrally replied to 24OZ's topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Was this operation done with engine in car or out?
  13. You're right on the money with that. Not only did they lose there investments, but all the knowledge. How come Duff hasn't been mentioned yet?
  14. I would guess the one that has the largest area? Can everyone go back to the're heads and please measure.
  15. Eric, it all depends on your use. Obviously, it's not the tranny you want to run, shame you're not in Aus, otherwise I'd be tempted to make you an offer. It's ideal for my use [Rally], unfortunately the freight would be prohibitive. As to how to shift it, get a shifter from another trans, and yes you do make perfect sense, you may as well stay with a stock trans. Mike
  16. How can the owner prove it's a Samuri? It looks pretty stock to me, but then again unless it's got a nose......
  17. Does this mean our cars are to cheap down here?
  18. Hi all, I deliberatly posted that question as I have a vested interest in part of the outcome. I probably should throw in another definition that we can throw back and forth in the ether. Works Replica. My reason for raising the notion is that with the lack a "works rally" cars in Australia [not just Nissan or zed related], the Historic Rally Association is floating the idea of creating a category which is recognised as a Historic Works Replica. Contary to belief there are a handful of 240's rallied spec'd and complete with log booked Rally History, looking very much like some of the works cars to boot! These we call privateers. They occaisionally make an appearance and are categorised as PRC Vehicles, losing any Historic appeal that they have. To overcome this the HRA is seeking ideas how a works replica category can "slot" into it's categories. Not just the datto's but all pre80 Rally Cars that had a rally history. As you can imagine, it's pretty expensive to go out and buy any "works" car, so as an alternative it's been suggested that a replica category be established for those vehicles that may fit in. But now the complication, how do you define replica? Obviously works shell is out, but what do others see a replica as? Historically, we can't make a works car, nor a semi works [still not sure of that definition]so what's left!!!!!
  19. So the conversion wasn't just performed on 240's. It was available on 260's as well. If it was all un-documented then it would be interesting how the seller of that car can prove it's providence? arse facing the air, cigarette in mouth. Sounds pretty much like the guy who invented the sand blasting method of polish/porting heads in situ! ROFL
  20. Didn't think there where any factory sponsored zeds out there. Definately a lot of privateers, but I wouldn't have thought these crews had access to the special "works " shell? In this case I would think "works replica"would be more appropriate. Time for another history lesson, Alan.....
  21. what do you exactly mean by semi works cars? They either are or they aren't, are they? Great photos anyway, makes me want to get the rally car out again, shame we can't replicate the snow scenes here!
  22. This is probably one of those questions that Alan could chip in on. All that I know of the Samuri is that it was a UK conversion? of a 240. Someone made mention of it in a thread last year but if that's the photo of the car in question, then it isn't doing it any justice at all.
  23. Oh boy, I'll start ducking for cover now!!!! Rather than you ask I'll jump in first. Firstly the greatest difference is that the mixture cannot be adjusted during tune-up. There is one other difference that being an addition of a vaccum type acelerator pump, once again when properly O/Hauled presents no difficulty. Flat tops are factory preset on the lean side, they can however be adjusted during a re-build, simply by altering the float level. I've been running both types of carbs in different conditions. On the street and cruising the flats are great, economical and responsive. Note though they have been re-built. Do not expect as new response from a 30 year old carbie that hasn't been re-built. [which is one reason I think everyone cans them]? The Kits are available and if you follow the instructions then I see no reason why you can't have a go at it yourself. As I wrote earlier, if you're looking at sending them out then you may as well change over to rounds, ifyou don't understand carbie's then take the easy way out at this stage, swap over, keep those flats and one day buy the kit and have a go at a re-build.
  24. Because they don't understand them!
