  4. I would think you're worried about the dizzy play. That would come from worn bearings. Advice I have is that the bearings are NLA. This happened to me and I had to replace with another dizzy. I think it came off a ZX and has created a few problems of it's own. I have recently acquired a "proper " dizzy and will replace it in due course. In answer to your question, there shouldn't be any play, if there is then the timing will be out [or rather the gap]. If you have a wobble in the dizzy then you will need to replace it with another. Hope this helps.
  5. I got both, however you can't compare them as Alfa thinks. The 240 is manual and goes like the clappers, so does the 260, but remember it is a 260 2+2 and is heavy as, also is running with original, but overhauled carbies. It's like comparing apples and pears. Anyone with a auto & manual 240 out there?
  6. I think there are 2 things you're asking here. 1. Distributor shaft play. 2. Dizzy play. Which one would you like an opinion on?
  7. Mike, In the interests of making the thread readable, is it possible to remove those threads and replies which diverted the attention of the intended thread? If you feel that this is not possible or would rather not, could you please copy the salient details relating to flat tops into a new thread. The info in the thread must be regarded as interesting to people who[m] for whatever reason do not want to change to pre-emission SU's
  8. Oi Alfa, Clear out your mailbox and head to chat
  9. Good, Now I can sleep tonight.
  10. Hold on, you haven't pulled the plugs yet!!!!!

Guus, Do you mean 120 euro each pair or each ball joint?
  12. Actually, I can see a good reason why you wouldn't want to install these LEDS. From what I have read, you can't dim them. There either ON or OFF. I am Right or Wrong on this?
  13. Actually I have an idea. Why not get these things to blink faster as you go faster. You know, a real slow blink as your going slow to a mind boggling pulse when you hit the ton.....
  14. Hold on there Alfa, are you saying you have blinking dash lights?
  15. Remember that those pics only qualify if they have zed related bitsROFL ROFL My suggestion is , oh no better not.....
  16. or is there some sort of switch so you can chose blink or no blink?
  17. Huh? I'm confused. How do they blink? Does this have something to do with the 2 batteries or is it the way they are wired up?
  18. Wow, what will they think of next, Alfa, would the Leds flash half as much if you used only one battery, or does using 2 make them brighter?
  19. OK, maybe I should have started by asking what is a LED! Nop, never heard of it and haven't heard of any zed conversions either.
  20. Now this is an interesting idea! Has anyone done a conversion?
  21. Won't try to correct you as I was going from memory as well. The photo was in How to Hot Rod & Race your Datsun or the other How to book. I think the USD20K + price killed any ideas of mass production! If I remember correctly it did little by itself to lift performance anyhow!
  22. Well, we've all seen the photo's and we now it existed [even if it was pre-production]. If it wasn't a ZGRS30 then what was it?
  23. Plugs are located on the top of the head.
  24. If the plugs are black & sooty, then it's either to rich or it could be ignition. Thats another common problem, point gap. Check that as well, after all if he is getting weak spark, then you get incomplete combustion and hesitation.
