When selecting the correct aluminum, or aluminium, foil, be sure to select the proper sheet thickness - standard duty or heavy duty. Do not skimp on quality, stick with a known brand. Refer to this guide. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/guide/551/types-and-sizes-of-food-service-foil.html

Don't get discouraged. Keep trying. You can do it!

Time to go shopping for a new tin foil hat.

The other downside of no longer wearing a mask, in addition to having to shave, is that people will be able to read your lips when you silently cuss them out. Personally, I'll miss that benefit of mask wearing. Stay strong, Cliff. Dennis

You might also try listing it on Craigslist in a nearby large city like Cincinnati or Indianapolis. Neither of those cities currently have any Datsuns listed. There's got to be someone looking for a 280Z 2+2.
  6. I wonder how old the video is since it shows the stock dash installed, unlike the current instrument panel shown in the gallery pictures ......or if it's even the same car on the track. Fun wonky video, regardless.

Cutting carpet to fit the Z, unless you do it for a living, probably won't give you the results you seek. Preformed carpet sets are available for floor and rear deck at a reasonable price from several sources like: https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic08g07 You can add sound deadening or heat insulating material under the carpet. Again, many ways to go with costs that vary. However, not a big expense for something functional that dresses up the Z interior. Dennis

My pleasure. If you're going to drill new holes, I suggest running a strip of wide masking tape across the hole area and then measuring and marking the drill points on the tape. Make sure all is level and you're good to go. Or, as "siteunseen" mentioned, check the backside of each fender. Dennis

FWIW, here are the fender emblem hole measurements from my one owner, no accidents, 1971 240Z. I used a precision micrometer and measured from the edge of each fender at the door seam gap to the center of the closest mounting hole. I then measured from the peak of the ridge below the mounting holes to the center of each of the holes. Measuring from the ridge peak is inexact as the peak is rounded, but I tried to measure from what I felt to be the highest point of the curve. Driver's Fender: 3.87 inches from fender edge to mounting hole center Mounting hole closest to fender edge 2.48 inches above peak of fender ridge Mounting hole farthest from fender edge 2.34 inches above peak of fender ridge Passenger's Fender: 4.25 inches from fender edge to mounting hole center Mounting hole closest to fender edge 2.26 inches above peak of fender ridge Mounting hole farthest from fender edge 2.43 inches above peak of fender ridge The center peg on each emblem can be marked after locating each end pin hole on the emblem. My car may differ from your car, but consider this as a starting point for your search. Have fun! Dennis

At least four of the vehicles in this commercial are the same seen in the picture I posted a few weeks ago when they were parked at the beach between LAX and Marina del Rey. They must be planning a series of Nissan commercials showing the old and the new. Can't wait to see the one with the blue Datsun B210. Dennis
  12. Speaking as the owner of a '71 Z since 1971, I've gone through the same decision making process you're experiencing. When I bought my Z in '71 it was persimmon. After owning it for about eight years, I had it color changed to silver. A few years later, back to persimmon. During that time, it wore a black/charcoal front BRE spoiler which started out gloss black gelcoat and was later painted charcoal using C-130 aircraft radome paint. I also added black bolt on fender flares which will probably be coming off soon. Changed to a 5-speed and trimmed the center console to accommodate the shift lever throw. Upgraded to 15" black spoked Konig wheels. Now, after 50 years of ownership, I'm getting it ready for new persimmon paint. I've replaced all of the bumper rubber trim and will repaint the sun faded tail light surround to as close to stock as I can get it. I also plan to add factory headlight covers, JDM front grille, and rear hatch louvers which have been in boxes for about 10 years. Lesson learned over those last 50 years....do what makes you happy. Whatever you do can all be undone and redone. It's your car, make it the way you want it. If you're doing it as an investment, keep it close to stock or at least easily reversible to stock. Have fun with the process. Dennis

With the various possible engine and transmission options you mention, the value could vary considerably. Have you looked for a similar car on the Bring A Trailer auction site? What engine and trans will it eventually have as that will be a huge factor in determining a price? How's the interior? Dennis

Dear Pilgrim, Cool your jets. I'm sure that sheltering in place has clouded your reasoning and judgement when reading and responding to posts in this topic. It's a difficult time for all of us. Time for you to take a chill pill, a solitary walk outdoors, and a long nap. Your stress level is showing and lashing out at me after misunderstanding the intent of my post serves no good purpose. Since you missed the point of my post. Allow me to elucidate. I was not referring to only domestic household pets and farm animals. Feral squirrels, rabbits, foxes, deer, cats, ducks, rats, raccoons and more will not be dropping by their neighborhood vet clinic for a dose of vaccine. If animals can be virus carriers, global virus eradication will not be easily accomplished. Now, relax, watch a good movie like Contagion, I am Legend, 28 Days Later, or 12 Monkeys. Please respond to me off forum if you want to continue this discussion. Your Friend, Dennis

The cause for concern is that if Coronavirus is cross-species, containing it just became fairly impossible. Dennis
  18. Mask up! Effective today, Riverside County California made mask use mandatory for everyone outside their home - no exceptions. Not sure how it will be enforced, but I'm sure a lot of people are cutting up towels, t-shirts, and pillow cases to make masks like those shown above. I made mine last week with new, clean, shop rags and a hot glue gun. Not enjoying the New Normal. Dennis

He probably could have gone about it differently - like having crew members notify their congress representatives or the IG. That might have been covered and protected under the "Military Whistleblower Act. I'm sure he felt he was doing it for the greater good. As a retired Air Force officer, I saw a few similar instances during my active duty years. His superiors view what he did as making a bad decision and you can't have someone who makes bad decisions in charge of an aircraft carrier. To his credit, he can say, "Mission accomplished". Dennis
  21. Will the price be the same for all plate finish choices? I'd suggest limiting finish choice to one or two to better manage inventory costs. Shipping cost (postage + package material + your time to stand in line at post office) built into price or extra? Have you checked domestic & foreign shipping fees? Knowing the production cost per piece would make it easier to price the finished product.
  22. Good story, but the actors seem a little stilted. ? Dennis
  23. Raymond Loewy designed 1955 Jaguar XK 140. Body by Boano. I have another of his classics parked in my garage, a 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2. You can see some aspects of this car (rear fenders and glass) in the Avanti design. Loewy did some interesting car designs over the years. Check this link for more on this car and others: https://tinyurl.com/rcpmq3b Loewy and I exchanged letters back in the days before email when people actually wrote letters on paper to each other. Loewy's letters were handwritten, not typed. I treasure them. Dennis

Locally, 59 identified Coronavirus cases, seven deaths, National Guard set up a Field Hospital in the nearby County Fairground. I'm sheltered in place, rationing toilet paper, and binge watching Tiger King on Netflix. I'm looking forward to waking up from this bad dream. Dennis
