The sudden death of my closest friend Enrique Scanlon (EScanlon)
I wish I had been able to get to know him, sounds like a really standup guy. I'll bet he'd have never guessed all these people admired him so much. You never really know how much you affect the people around you, and that you meet and associate with throughout your life. He even friended me on facebook just because we were fellow Z enthusiasts.

Video: Nissan 40th Anniversary Z Tribute
Forty years ago this month the Datsun 240Z arrived in North America, heralding a new era in sports car design. The 240Z was a revelation to the automotive world an affordable sports car that could be driven every day and was accessible to anyone with the $3,626 base price. And though the price of a new Z might have changed a little in the past 40 years, its unmatched value, style, performance and segment leadership remains stronger than ever. To celebrate, Nissan has created a special, limited production version of the current 2010 Nissan 370Z Coupe, the 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition. It will be available at select Nissan retailers nationwide beginning in spring 2010.

240Z Seat Belt Hangers?
Obviously these seat belts changed every year based on changing NHTSA requirements, that I believe were in flux during that time. The pictured belt above and by 26th is nothing at all like my 8/71 belt which has the Z logo printed on the center of the push-button female buckle. The j-hook was also located on the vehicle below the forward part of the quarter window. BTW, the bolts are 7/16" x 20. Here are some photos: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/open-zcar-discussion/48091-looking-re-tractable-seat-belt-parts-restoration.html#post417772

280z - Hidden/secret/weed compartment?
The accessibility issue threw me off, made me think something was modified by an owner.

headliner question
Well there are other options as well, like spray-on lizard skin. They have two products 1) sound deadening and 2) thermal insulating. You spray on #1 and then #2. I suppose then you would adhere the headliner to that.

headliner question
How does the headliner look when install over the Dynamat product? Can it be seen?

280z - Hidden/secret/weed compartment?
I'm not a 280Z owner, but it sounds to me like you have something installed in the car that is not stock. I know the car changed some, but a 240Z (71-73) has two compartments with metal lids and rotating latch mechanisms. The cover for the spare tire is a piece of pressboard that is velcroed (no hinges) down to the floor. The carpet sits directly over the entire deck and has slits sewn into it so you can lift the carpet to access the compartment lids. If you you have to remove all that to access the two compartments, sounds like something is wrong.

Accident repair of my 70 Z
I'm very impressed with this. It appears very straight in the photos.

What to do?
They expected the sheer acceleration of the Z to clear the water off theat ledge.

Quarter glass parts
What's that rough residue along the forward edge in second photo?
-
Quarter glass parts
See the dark finish along the edge? That's what I mean. Looks like it was painted. I'll probably reuse that built up part again instead of trying to fab it, because they appear to have tapered the rubber sections in the stack.

Quarter glass parts
No, I have a 71 model, it's original. There was a black finish of some kind on that forward edge.

Accident repair of my 70 Z
Make sure they're careful with the stainless trim about the glass seal, and tape it down to a large piece of cardboard when they remove it so it doesn't get bent up!

HELP Windshield Replacement
My car probably wouldn't make it into a strict stock class anyway. So who cares?

Quarter glass parts
Thanks. Well I know there was something black on the entire surface, it was not bright stainless.

Quarter glass parts
I'm refurbishing my quarter glass windows on both sides. I have the new seals and the urethane sealer that you put on the surfaces. I cleaned up the stainless frames very well. My question is, what is attached to the forward edges next to the door? There appears to be either or both a corner piece around the forward bottom corner or and piece that attaches along the entire forward edge. Either way something black either paint or a piece of rubber appears to have exist along this edge at one time. I have a set of 72 quarter glass as well, and there is some thick residue of some kind along those edges. It looks like old rubber. It doesn't seem logical that Nissan left this edge bare. My understanding is the the 280Z quarter windows had a rubber component riveted onto the forward edge. Black Dragon Automotive (bottom of page 13) shows a part #4 Seal-Front Quarter - LH & RH for 70-78 Z's. Anyone used this part? So I'm a bit confused as to what was actually there. I'd appreciate some help.
