  1. My egr tube came loose and after years the exhaust gasses rotted a hole in my intake manifold about the size of a golf ball. Chased that problem until I put a handheld mirror under there and saw the huge vacuum leak. Replaced the intake and deleted the egr which is way more than just pullung that stuff off. There's some vacuum lines and thermal vacuum switches you have to deal with too. I'm with Zed Head on the reverse tuning you're going to have to do but you're here where everybody likes to solve issues. The forum has been needing a good puzzle too. You are a pleasant and thankful guy so it'll get back to running soon. We like pictures that show what you're talking about so the more the better even though the car's in one place and you travel. Do a photo dump when you're back with the car. Zed Head will figure it out.
  2. Thanks! Got it here……https://jdm-car-parts.com/collections/nissan-skyline-vintage/products/datsun-competition-steering-wheel-wood-version-for-datsun-240z-260z-280z-510-coming-soon?variant=13657764986989
  3. I don't think smog will be able to tell what the compression ratio is. Whether you can get the EFI to run properly with it, is another story. You could always add a rheostat on the temp side of the EFI to dial it down some but that still might not work. If I were going to build a motor and wanted more power, I would probably ditch the factory EFI. It's not very tunable. Build what you have to and get it running and then mod it after you move and know what the new rules will be at your new address. High compression motor with SU's, or SU throttle bodies, ITB's or go turbo. with as much displacement as you can afford
  4. Already ahead of you, have a Fidanza Lightweight flywheel ready to be put on. Was the first thing I bought for the build as my other Z also has this flywheel and made a huge difference with my triple weber Z.
  5. Headers and EGR delete won't pass the visual inspection. Your car could put out zero CO2, NOx, CO, and HC, but if it doesn't have all of the smog equipment that Nissan installed or CARB equivalents, that's likely a non-starter.
  6. Despite the freezing cold morning air, several of us drove our Zs to a local car meet. We were joined later by a 350Z, and an AE 280ZX.
  7. Those are cylinder head temp sensors for the ZX. Used on the P79 and P90.
  8. I’m going to make it sound like an echo chamber. Where did you get that awesome looking wheel at?
