  1. when i first got my z the kids asked if they would be able to drive it (i have 5: 14, 15, 16, 18, 20) and i told my (then) 18 yr old he could take it to the prom. he was the star of the show that year, when the pictures came back all the girls wanted a shot next to the car in their fancy dresses and the boys put on their best James Bond rental tux suave... that was a couple years back and the next one (now 18) just took the z to his senior prom this past weekend - boy was he happy to go pick up his date! each time i see one of my sons drive off it takes me right back to high school and how a cool car was everything.

Took on a client for some Z work- didn't have enough to do- 1972 Auto from out west- very rust free and original. Going to try and bring her back to glory
  3. I have great respect for you guys with kids so close in age, more so for your wives. My sister wanted a girl but wound up with 4 boys then her husband had a clipping done thank god. I can't keep up with their birthdays and Christmas is expensive but I like them all. One is eerily similar to uncle cliff, he doesn't think twice before diving head first. She was pregnant four times in five years. I took my dad's '84 Vette to my '87 prom. Stayed long enough for the proof we went pictures then to a hotel room party. I beat that car for all it as worth that night. It was a very fast car back then and I raced everything that pulled alongside me. As Carol Burnett sang " memories, nothing but memories..."
  4. I love it!!! I also have 5: my oldest is 20 and the baby will be 12 this year. Unfortunately I haven't had a running Z for them but I have built cars for some of the older ones. Started a 73 fast back mustang with the older one, a BMW Z3 for the oldest girl and a 510 Wagon for the second boy. Enjoy the memories, that is where the real treasure lies...
  5. Oh I hear you on that, a few years back I did a run of triangulated shock tower brace bars, by the time they were all sold I calculated that I was working for $6 an hour. Anyone who builds a needed product for our cars is doing all of us a favor.

Permatex makes a special product for DIY repair of W/S rubbers. It's called flowable W/Shield and Glass sealant. It is a very thin, clear RTV that " Flows " into hidden nooks and crannies of W/Shields that are held in with Rubber gaskets. It has a special small application tip so you can slip it under the rubber and inject the sealant. PO had replaced the rear hatch glass rubber with an aftermarket POS. It leaked like a sieve... but he never drove the car in the rain. Here on the Wet Coast I do not have that luxury. I was looking at having the rubber gasket replaced but decided to give the Permatex product a try. Gotta say it worked danged good. Hatch rubber is now sealed tight to the worst rains and my rear trunk area now stays nice and dry. Thanks. That will be handy. I got about 50% of the metal clean by tumbling a box of half inch nuts in it for 15 minutes (count them going in and out and have a magnet ready), so it's not as bad as I had thought. I am currently dehumidifying it and will fill it up with white vinegar again once it's dry. That will sit for the rest of the week I think. Then I'll descale it again.
  8. Wow! A quote from almost 8 years ago. Back when I was still active and still had my Datsuns.
  9. Sean, the finish is stunning! Are these headers something you are going to continue making into the future or a one off batch? Thanks, Chris
