  1. Horray! Fixed! Just a connection issue.... Now I can roll down the road and honk to my hearts content! Thank you all for all of the ideas and feedback! Once again the community prevails! Appreciate you! K The lil z lady
  2. People say that's a sign of one of the shaft nuts coming loose. The CS nut, I think. There are threads out there on various forums. You have to pull it apart to fix it.

I finished my LED bulb upgrade for the map lamp. First I cut strips of thin plastic (the kind you get from stuff packed in the welded plastic display packages) to fit into the lamp. The strips were covered in aluminum foil tape (used for taping heating ducting) and were glued into an arc to form a reflector for the light. I used GOOP for the adhesive. The bulb used is a 12 emitter paddle-style bulb with 100 Lumens output. The reflector and high-output bulb made a noticeable difference in the light. I might still put in a bulb of the warm-white 5500K color, but for now it is fine. I did not paint the inside of the lamp with gloss white paint, but I might later. I like what I did because I will not have to disassemble the lamp to change the bulb.

that id plate looks too nice for its age
  5. Something a bit different, Les Collins engine similar to the Green Hornet's.
  6. And the show is on again! With the 1970 Z on its way to California now, I finally have my garage space back and a few pennys to rub together for a change. First order of the build is to weld together an engine stand that will also hold the Z dash so I can integrate both of the wiring harnesses and instrument cluster. Good bye old friend.
  7. I started work on the quarter windows, the fixed corner at the bottom of the frame is where water can accumulate and rot out the steel brace that is welded to the stainless steel frame. After soaking the brace in Evaporust I drilled through the spot welds and Mig welded it the frame back together and sealed it all back together. The brace really should be SS as well and maybe before it all goes back together I'll grind out that old peice and replace it with SS.
  8. You are not going to find a $30,000 Z for $1,500 I'm sure you know that. If it has sat under a tarp outside for 25 yrs then you should do some very through digging under the carpets and underneath the car, just be prepared to walk away. Any rust you see is only 20% of what is actually there.
