  1. New and never mounted. I purchased this a while ago, but decided not to use it. These sell for $299 from MSA. Asking $290US including shipping to anywhere in US mainland or Canada. *note* these will not fit the 280z and the 260z.
  2. 71!! You are my new hero. I did one when I somewhere around 41. Stayed in bed flat on my back for a whole weekend!
  3. I've wondered the same. I have a set of 280 ZX 2+2 CV companion flanges. I found a somewhat confusing thread implying that there's a problem with wheel bearing sizes. I wanted the six hole CV flange in my 280Z but I'd have to go backward to 240Z axles to use them. Side note - it's kind of odd that Nissan went back to a smaller axle for a heavier (2+2), more powerful (turbo) car. Here's the thread about bearing sizes. It also has another path to 5 lugs though, that might be interesting - http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/103344-280zxt-stub-axle-cv-swap/ On the topic of reinforcing the holes - http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/116276-5-lug-hub-stub-axles-conversion-for-240z-260z-280z/ Seems like some thought about where the loads are distributed and how clamping forces work would be worthwhile. People seem to be thinking that radially directed loads are the extreme ones. Not so sure.
  4. Look them up on HybridZ.com in the vendors forum to see the sale ad. Sale prices are good until 31 March.
  5. Have to give credit and thanks where it is due. Zup, since you pointed me to www240Zrubberparts.com I want to thank you. I emailed them my issue and since they were out of them, they would add them to the next batch in a few days and I could order one when they are ready. THAT is great service for our Z's. I just wanted to give them a compliment in front of our member and thank them for the quick customer friendly service. I think I will order the entire brake and hose clamp set from them in addition to the ash tray door. I will reward good companies with my wallet. That kind of service is hard to find.
  6. Hi , I am outside now, let me see what I have. ZA has a red operating light , probably ZB has a green light I guess from reading the owner's manual. My 4 cars have 4 different audio system, it is fun to look at each other. Talk you soon. Kats
  7. (As you found out) as long as you have good connections, soldering isn't necessary. I used tinned stranded wires of a gauge that fit snug into the female contacts. Probably the same gauge you used... I ran like that for about a year before I rebuilt the entire harness to make those (and other) changes permanent.
  8. Filler hose problems aside, in the past two weeks I used an impact wrench, a hammer and some cursing to get all the sensors out of both thermostat housings, and after a bit of refreshing they still look to be in good shape. Removed a whole bunch of water scale from the 280zx housing and everything's back on the motor. Nissan switched the locations of the two larger sensors, though, so there's a routing issue I'll have to deal with when I re-flush the system again. Also, no more garish blue hoses! I can't seem to stop taking on new little projects before finishing the old ones. Took out the tail lights to clean the rear deck. Hmm....dirty. And a bit rusty (I understand how lucky I am that this is -- so far -- the second worst bit of rust I've found on the car). And then the paint flaked a little bit....and I never liked the body color on those panels anyway....and then a couple hours later....and then a lot of hours later, because some of that paint did not want to come off. So now it looks like this and I'm trying to decide whether I want to go all the way and paint the panels or just leave them as is. They do match the state of the rest of the exterior right now And the Shin Buster Supreme is finally gone. Not walking into those things ever again.
  9. Finally.....she is in it's way.....they just picked it her up by the shipping company and it will go inside a container and it will head to Long Beach California. Some pro Pictures before coming to the USA....I know the wheels are ugly and she is naked.... but all that will be taken care of when she gets here.....
  10. Late consoles mount differently than early ones. Possible, but not "bolt on". Plus it's just wrong....
  11. 1 point
Where are the Canadian guys? They should be all over this one. Get it running and sell it to a collector outside canada.Take advantage of that horrible exchange rate while you can.
  12. I just got the information from BRE in their Tribute Car Program. It is pretty much as I described above. For a nominal fee you, as an individual, are granted a limited license to apply their color scheme, logos, etc to your car. This preserves their copyrights against commercial challenges of abandonment. Besides being right with the law - and doing right by BRE - you get specific details on colors, stripe dimensions, etc. You also get two decals indicating your official membership in their Tribute Car Program along with a certificate signed by Peter Brock.
  13. Fortunately we won't remember how bad it is and how often it happens.
  14. Here is a link to the sale. I spent days on this one. The spokes were stripped to metal, primed, sanded, painted. The rim got scrubbed, bleached, sanded, stained, four coats of clear, lots of sanding in between, I ran out of nice horn pads so I am including a brand new reproduction horn pad. Have a look, it sure came out pretty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/331796135203?
  15. I was running a 3.90 open diff when I first got the car. It definitely had some advantages as it was turning about 2500 at 60mph on my 5-speed (from an 1982/3 ZX). The problem for me, though, was that because of my 3" exhaust, the drone was unbearable just at that rpm, and it was a little pokey off the line and picking up speed as the powerband my my 3.1 stroker doesn't really kick in until 3500 or so. When I upgraded to an LSD, I swapped to the 4.11, which pushed the rpms to about 2950 at 60mph. Gas mileage got worse by a hair, but it is quicker and more agile plus the drone went away, so I'm happy. I don't drive this car long distances, mostly to work and back (15 miles one way), so the mileage didn't make any real difference. I also understand that these engines don't mind running at a higher rpm, so I"m also not worried about wear and tear (I only put 3-4K miles on it a year anyway). BTW, I had my car on the dyno last fall and before any real tuning my numbers were almost exactly the same as yours. Good luck with your decision!
