I painted my engine bay and when I am currently putting everything back. I’m not sure where this goes. D693C3DC-0383-4875-BE98-6D9AF0C812B2.jpeg

Can’t say that I’ve ever seen something like that on a Z.

Sometimes there were prankers that put some weard parts in a pile of parts that the new guy took from a car at the painters.. Always fun to see what they do with it! 😁

The part you show here ... i never seen such a thing..

I'd guess it is some sort of alignment tool. Bellhousing to engine block for example.

Can't tell the exact size from the picture. A scale reference would help. If it is about the size of a quarter, I'd go with the soldering iron tip.

Looked like a firing pin until Zkars id as soldering iron tip. Looks to have some shiny tin too.

I'd have to go out and check this with my car tomorrow...but I'm pretty sure that part seats inside the vacuum controlled solenoid valve attached to the B.C.D.D. (Boost Controlled Deceleration Device)...the solenoid valve I'm referring to screws into the side of the BCDD and has an electrical wire connected to it. I'll check this tomorrow, and if I'm wrong I'll update my post.

When i take a good look on that tip.. it closes something.. as it has a rounded scoring on it.. i would think it's out of a solonoid..

A bottom view and a size reference would be very helpful in identification.
