1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build

Charles,

I'll try my best to describe the mounting process. You will need a "L" shaped bracket strip to secure the foot/motor of the antenna to the body. The small leg of the "L" attaches to the antenna via the screw near the drain port - see the pic, screw on the left. The long leg of the bracket attaches to the car body just inside the fender well cavity. Feel along inside and below the pinch weld and locate a threaded stub bolt shank. That is the mount for the bracket. The factory used a wingnut to secure the bracket to the stub bolt. This is the ground point for the motor so it is important that the threads on the stub bolt are clean. Run the drain tube thru a grommet in the hole at the bottom of the cavity. Hope this helps.

The metal strap just keeps the base of the antenna body from moving fore-aft or side-to-side. It doesn't support any of the weight. Instead, the weight of the antenna body is supported entirely by the fender mount (where the mast pokes through fender). In the picture below, the strap is obvious, but the body-mounted stud is hidden. If you look closely, you'll also see the drain tube and the point where it exits through the grommet at the bottom of the body cavity (this is also the place where the little centre pins for the interior panel plastic rivets go to die).

I added some door seals but they need some more work. They didn't adhere very well

On a different note, I drove my car today for the first time!!! It has never run since I've owned it.

16 years...

I don't know if this will play

On a different note @SteveJ why does my ammeter wag like crazy? It seems to settle at idle but when driving it wags from one extreme to the other most of the time

@Patcon love the lightweight interior, will make for one fast Z! Congrats on the first drive after all your hard work.

@Patcon I can only assume my strut isolators won’t work on a 240.

Merry Christmas friend

The front insulators are the same for all S30's - 54320-E4100, same units for the rear 240's and 260's. Rear insulators changed for the 280Z's - 54320-N3701. The E4100's are still available new at Nissan.
