I am working on this for a while to make it right. Since vintage style tonnaue cover(original one or reproduction one), does not fit right, does not work right for many reasons: Botton fastenings, unstable mounts, poor sewing condition, limited access to the back, limited access to the strage lids on Series 2 car, got to drille holes, does not work on 280Z cars, very expensive, very hard to repair once it breaks, and so on. So I decided to spend some time on this project. This new type will be targeted to be.......... 1. No drilling is required. 2 nuts and 2 screws. 2. Rear strut caps stay the same. 3. It even works with rear strut tower bar. 4. It will preven…

I purchased a 280Z console from Courtesy Nissan not too long ago to replace the mangled piece of plastic that was in my 260Z. There are two holes in the console that I assume would be filled on a 280Z. Could I get some feedback on what goes in them? The first is the hole between the defrost and choke lights. The second is a big square hole to the right of the defrost and hazard switches. Thanks in advance, Steve

First off, I am house bound after surgery so I can't look on my own. I have a late 77 280 that has the lifted rear deck panels that are bolted to the floor. The rest of the interior in the back is marginal. I may be able to buy a beautiful 76 280 that was totaled in a front end collision. (Everyone walked away). Can I change out the hatch interior, plastic and all, with a complete donor car? Were there changes in the actual structure or was it all bolt in? I know I loose my spare tire, that is what makes me wonder if the floor pan will be significantly different. I'd like to buy this 76 before it goes to the bone yard. Damage is extensive from center of hood to…

I can't believe it - the interior restoration on my burgundy '78 coupe is essentially complete! Finally! I feel like a contortionist, as I've been in so many unnatural (and very uncomfortable) positions putting her back together. It's been well worth it though! The only remaining items are: 1) new parking brake boot (not yet ordered), 2) new pedal/footrest pads (in hand and ready to install), 3) find and install the screws for the quarter window trim (somehow MIA along the way), 4) floor mats and 5) touch up the P/S kickplate. Any recommendations on touch-up paint for the cardboard kickplate surrounding the fusebox? Here are a few before/after photos. I'm looking…

This weekend I was installing my gauges into my dash and it appears that I misplaced my stinkin screws that go into the top of the bezel on the Tach and Speedo . Sooo, what I am needing is a replacement pair, or some advice on some tricks that some of you have tried. Help a bro out! Yes I can find some suitable ones at the local harware store, but I wanted to ask everyone first. Thanks.

Hey guys Last night it rained out here in Tucson. I took the Z over to a friends house and while driving I noticed that there was a nice steady drip coming from the rear of the car. After some examination I'm pretty positive that the water is coming from the rear glass gasket on the rear right corner. Secondly this morning when I turned on the rear defogger only about two of the lines work. (its been like this since I bought the car). So what exactly should I do here? What are my options window wise and what should be done about the rear defogger? Jan

Does anyone by chance have a key blank "gun" that cuts the OEM oval key by dialing in the OEM key number stamped on the OEM key? The local dealer here no longer has theirs.

Ok i need help installing choke lever on center console. Solution must be simple but i just couldnt figure it out. So there is 2 places for screws in choke assembly but i couldnt figure out their place in center console. Previous owner had drilled hole trough center console and there was long screw holding it (barely) in place (see picture) Every time i use choke, i can feel the center console snapping because of the screw. I think that is not correct way. Also center console has been cracked near that area ( i got that fixed but it'll barely last) Thanks already

Hey everyone, I recently ordered reproduction plastic panels that are part of the interior. The set that includes the speaker panels by the wheel wells, the dome light, the quarter windows and the rear brake light cover. I just got them today and was unpleasantly surprised to find that the butterscotch color that I ordered was nowhere close to the original. The butterscotch vinyl parts that I ordered were the original orangeish color but the plastic panels were beige to tan in color. It is obvious that the color is painted on as the back sides are black. I got them from Datsun Spirit and they were great to deal with but this is not acceptable. I have several questi…

I am in the process of restoring my 73 240 seats. I purchased new covers and foam. My seats had been apart before and some fabric stitched into the center sections. I have two quick questions: 1) Is the 1/4" foam glued to the seat back original? 2) Does anyone have any suggestions what to use in place of the sisal/hardboard that protects the foam from the springs on the seat? Mine has broken down into a nest of fibers. Thanks; Ted.

I was given a 260Z seat yesterday that matches the patina of my very good original passenger set. My drivers seat is in real bad shape. My "new" seat is a passenger seat that I believe I can switch to my drivers seat's rails. I have some "dents" in the seat of my "new" seat from something sitting on top of it for awhile. Has anyone been able to "fluff" up the foam to get the covering looking good. Or, will time and warmth make the vinyl and foam spring back? I have it inside the house right now and it looks like it might spring back - maybe wishful thinking!

Hello all as my title says I have a chance to purchase a set ,that the print on the box says '' Custom auto carpets , ''240z black complete set '' and they where purchased in the late 80's from a co in Chicago called Jc Whitney and Co . The seller says that they have built in underlay with the set and are still in the box never installed and with the installation instructions included and the asking price is very reasonable . Has anybody ever used these or know about the product thanxz for any feedback . Chris, in snowless Vancouver hosting the Olympics at the end of the week !
