hey gang... I am getting an L26 with a 4-Speed that runs good. I will be dropping it into my 280 to get it up and running quickly while I save $ to rebuild my L28 the way I want it. I don't know much about the differences between these engines except the obvious. Can anyone tell me what issues I may need to deal with when I install?

I've heard that all manual transmissions from '70 to '83 are all interchangable and bolt up directly to the L-series motor, is this the same with the automatic transmissions? I'm going to swap out the automatic for a manual next year when I do a motor swap, but for now I could really use a solid automatic. Thanks, Ian.

i'm going to look at a 73z with flat top carbs. most 73 have switched to round tops. anybody running flat tops? i was wondering how they perform. do they deserve the bad reputation most people give them? do round top carbs just bolt right in? can i use the 73 intake and linkage? what's a ballpark figure in $ to switch them over.( plus cost of mechanic) thankyou very much in advance.

Is the Windshield Glass from 1970 to 1978 interchangable? I have the original glass from 1972 in the garage. It is quite pitted from the years. My car will be out of the paint booth in a week or so. I need to know if I need to buy glass for a 1972 or can I get any one from '70 - '78 ? -Jeff

Im brand new to the Datsun scene and i have a 240z. The car is me and my dads project and were planning to build it pretty much from the ground up. What i was wondering was if anybody had any helpful hints, build price, or horror stories on swapping a SR or RB series motor into the car (this wont be happening until everything else has been rebuilt). Any info would help, Thanks!

I am currently trying to swap my flattop carbs for a set of 72 SU's and I failed to realize that the air cleaner setup needed to change. Does anyone have a decent air cleaner box that will work w/ a set of 72 SU's? If so, let me know and we can discuss price. I understand there are other options using K&N etc. Anyone have details that won't drive the cost up too much? Tx, Bill Colorado Springs, CO

Ok, it's now going into the 5th month that my 71 has been off the road and I'm getting a little twitchy. Here's the lowdown. Stock tranny went out so I decided to stick in a 5 speed without changing other stuff (differential etc) and retain the same power. The T5 from an 82 Turbo fit the bill and right now I have it and my stock engine mocked up in position and ready to fabricate tranny mounts for it. My 2 major questions are 1: Will one of the aftermarket "ripper" shifters for Mustangs work with this setup so I won't have to chop up the center console (chopping is something I want to avoid at all costs)? If this doesn't work, can I bend a shifter to fit? 2: I heard …

What flywheel will work on my 83 2.8 ZX Engine from a 2+2 in a 76? Do I need to use a 2+2 flywheel or can I use a regular coupe flywheel?

Good news in several ways! I've hooked up with a source that will make the "Plug-N-Play 240Z Alternator Upgrade Adapter" to my specs. And the production version is frankly better in many ways than I had hoped. 1.) It is now the small, weather-resistant and self-contained unit I had originally envisioned. (See pictures below.) 2.) It is made with a factory-style connector, and new brass terminals. The necessary diode is self-contained. 3.) Better yet, the final version is cheaper than I had thought it could be made. The final price is $15.00 each, INCLUDING postage within the US. Contact me for shipping outside the US. A small volume discount is available for quantities…

Gonna be kinda long here, SORRY! Ok! son apparently blew up/locked up/trashed his 73 240Z motor.Havent had a chance to go over and look at it, but doesnt sound good. what I am think is this. I have a complete 77 280 motor with 5sp sitting in the garage, problem , he took it out when it was installed in mine and now smokes like a B**ch. Thinking it is rings, since the N47 (non-oiler rail) was recently rebuilt with new seals ect. Thinking of pulling the plugs and powering the starter and checking compression, should this tell me if it's the rings? would do a lower end rebuild if necessary. now he has the dual weber down draft carbs and intake, will it fit on the newer N47 h…
