I have been cleaning up the front suspension on my car and I am missing the dust cover for the tie rod ends. Is there some place I can get just the rubber covers? If there is a difference I have a 76 -280Z. thanks Michael

Ahh, yes! I'm working with Fortune Auto (A 'local' up and coming performance coil-over company) to create a new, affordable, top-quality suspension option for the S30. Fortune Auto coilovers can be found on everything from 'VIP' style cars, to all-out race-winning time-attack cars. Their product has been featured in Import Tuner, and Super Street magazine. Fortune Auto is offering these at a price of $1075, with a 2-3 week wait period- provided there are 10 committed buyers. Of course, these are still not complete- and I'm still working out all the details. All coilovers incorporate a 50mm piston, 30 way damping, fully anodized body, custom rates & a 1 yea…

I have a 1971 240z 03/71 build date, I am ready to install the rear suspension. In the picture I have two different upper and lower rubber stoppers. The first picture are the uppers and the second picture are the lowers. Does anyone know the correct ones for my 240Z.

Hey all Together with a mate we installed a set of Tokico struts and spings for my late european 260z (78). The springs were 5022R and 5020F. The R were longer than the F´s. Because of this, he claimed the R´s had to go to the front, to handle the heavy engine. I found it strange but thought he would know the best and we gave it a go. Anyway, I purchased some XXR wheels and tires and put them on. This is how it looks now : its not a bad look, but I suppose not how it is meant to be. My questions are : What will it do if I were to change it the right way ? So the F go to the front and the R to the back? I assume the Z´arse will go up higher and the nose down? My …

I am in the middle of rebuilding my entire rear end. All new bushings, brakes, mounts, etc. and will eventually be getting to the front end as well. As part of this I am preparing all of the major components ie strut tubes, springs, etc) for painting (or possibly powder coating) and would like to get a recommendation on the type and brand of paint that people have used in the past and have achieved good results. Would appreciate any and all comments. Mike.

This all started almost before I had my Z running. I decided I wanted the options that go along with the coilover conversion and sectioned struts. I would like to thank Jon Mortensen for his initial help and advice. I've also read and re-read numerous HybridZ posts to better understand the workings of Z suspension (many written by him and John Coffey). I also ended up buying his old shocks and springs to start my project. I had also decided to source used struts and found some so I wouldn't need to cut the originals. This, of course was in case I didn't like how it road. It took me forever to get all the parts bought and ready to do the swap. I disassembled the rear st…

now from what i can get from this z is that he just cut the perch where the spring sits and slid the coilover inside and wielded it. can anyone give me some inside on how you think he achieved this. i know its very very low. i cant go that low in my town anyways but i just like the fact i can go that low for the look. you ether love it or hate it. heres the link. http://www.motormavens.com/2009/10/center-stage-shakotan-s30-240z/ hes the section where he talks about how he did it but i just feel like theres more to it then this. For the car to be REALLY low, I would have to droop the springs excessively and I had no idea if I would be left with any travel. At first I tried…

I'm trying to get the strut nut off and it just spins, not going up nor down. Any ideas of how to get it off? Should I decompress the springs to add some pressure or ?? I can see the nut turn inside the strut mount insulator, without the strut turning. Any ideas would be appreciated. 1978 Z coupe. Thanks, bob

Well I am in the process of changing out a wheel cylinder, and with the wheel off and the car in the air, I had some time to clean the area pretty well. Well, since I know the PO put on tokiko springs and shocks, I had a look at them. Is the stock shock tube threaded? Or did he have to thread them on to get the struts in the tubes? I have never done anything with a stock 240Z strut. If I wanted to go to the illumina's, since the shock is already threaded would that make it easier?
